A completely-engaging read! I couldn’t put it down!
I could not get enough of the antics of the three Birmingham sisters. It was frolicking good fun as they try to outsmart their ruthless, arrogant, power and status hungry mother. The storyline covers Agnes, Isabelle and Eleanor’s love life. The trouble they get themselves into and out of is so entertaining you will never be bored reading this book. It is full of laughter, love and romance. The mother, Victoria, had enslaved the household, under threat, to help her to spy on everyone and reporting anything and everything back to her. Her husband Williams Birmingham, the Duke of Cambridge, turned a blind eye to his wife’s flawed doings letting her get away with many a folly because he did not want her cross with him. Williams is a kind man, stern in business, respects his staff and those he does business with and he adores his three daughters. But he is blind to the plights of his daughters. Now Agnes is in love with Alan Sheldon, a wealthy merchant and has been for several years. He returns her love and has been meeting her in secret for fear of Victoria’s wrath and fear of disappointing the business relationship he has with Agnes’ father. Nicholas Stamford, heir to the Duke of Yorkshire, is promised by his parents to wed Agnes, but he falls in love with her sister Eleanor and Eleanor returns his love. What a conundrum. Isabelle and her archenemy, Nicholas’s best friend, Benjamin Witherspoon, Duke of Sussex, conspired against Victoria’s plot to wed Agnes so that she would gain more power and influence among ton. There is so much going on in this book, so many antics, many twists and turns, totally unpredictable, original, crafty and funny. This is so much fun to read and it is completely original and relatable. I highly recommend it.
This is a great book about three sisters and the men they come to love. Agnes, who is betrothed to Nicholas, is in love with Alan and Nicholas is in love with Eleanor after having spent time with her in a library escaping from a ball. After learning her sisters are in love with different people, Isabelle sets about to correct the attachments, and along the way she is aided by Benjamin who is assisting her in bringing about these changes. The story is beautifully written and keeps you interested until you find you have read the entire story. There is treachery in the book that is instigated by someone close to the women. There is a lot that happens in this book and I would highly recommend it as a great read, you will not be disappointed.
