Can Chester convince Eden to put aside their families’ feud and trust him with her heart and love? Of course he can – with difficulty.
What a wonderful story filled with a witty and intelligent heroine and a deep but loveable hero. Highly Recommend.
Manchester “Chester”, Marquess of Sterling has returned home after 10 years. He had a falling out with his father, the Duke when his brother was killed in a duel. He meets Eglantina Eden Haverdon when he is leaving the tavern to go home.
His horse is lame and he asks her for a ride to his home. He is fascinated by her and learns that she is the illegitimate sister of the man who killed his brother. On the way to his house, they have an accident on the bridge and Eden nearly drowns.
He insists that she stay the night at the manor, this starts a series of events that end up leaving Eden homeless. Chester feels responsible and offers her a job, she declines, but when she falls ill, he takes matters into his own hands.
This was a sweet story and I loved Chester – LOVED HIM. This story was very well done and while it is short, it was definitely paced perfectly and the love between Chester and Eden felt fully developed.
Legend has it that the blue rose only blooms when true love is found. Will it bloom for a marquis and a perky miss born on the wrong side of the blanket and to a member of the family so hated by his father?
My attention was captured from the moment Egglantina Eden Haverden dumps her eggs on Manchester’s, Chester, boots to the end.
I absolute adore Collette Cameron’s wit and writing style and A Rose for a Rogue did not disappoint.
A Rose for a Rogue, by Collette Cameron. I enjoyed reading this short romantic story. Eden and Chester, I couldn’t help, but feel sorry for these two. I found myself wanting to yell at the two families to leave these two souls alone. I was happy, but caught off guard at how Chester addressed his father when he showed no respect to Eden.
I was very pleased to read a character were the love interest is a strong woman whose intellect can match any person who would consider themselves above her. Chester, I melted to his character. In the beginning, I was like wait a minute here, but as I continued to read the story, he warmed up very nicely to me. I enjoyed the whimsical ways of the story and the different characters. They brought humor and wonderful excitement to Eden and Chester’s love story.
Until next time my fellow readers… read on!
This was a very entertaining story. I loved the characters of Eden and Chester. Eden was such a kind and thoughtful person and who wouldn’t love a charming but honest man like Chester. However, they are of different stations in life, there is a family feud and disgruntled and conniving relations to contend with. This story also highlights the few options available to women of limited means and how easily people judged them. Add to this the author’s quirky turns of phrase and this is a book I can highly recommend. I received a copy and have voluntarily reviewed it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Marry for love.
Chester is returning home to his ailing father when a chance encounter with an unusual lady distracts him on his journey. Eden is the illegitimate daughter of a wealthy landowner and does what she can to supplement the penitence left by her father. When tongues start to wag, Chester steps in. If he listens to his heart and his Mother’s advice, Chester could be happy. A charming romance with a kind hearted hero who will do anything for the young lady he loves.
I absolutely love the magic of this one! Fate brought them together and nothing was going to keep them apart. The moment they met their common sense and ways of doing things went out the window. They definitely had obstacles to get past, but none were like his father.
I got giddy when they were told the meaning behind the rose. Then I was holding my breath with his father’s last attempt, but loved that scene and how it played out. I was just beginning to think he had changed when that happened. At least I wasn’t wrong about her brother in the end even though that scene had me on the edge of my seat. The proposal was one of the best I’ve read.
Eden is very different from any of the women Chester could meet. She has a fun collection of pets and stands her ground against anyone. I loved her right away because she didn’t hold back her thoughts about anything.
Chester is also very different from the men Eden is used to. He doesn’t bat an eye at her birth and will do anything for her and her mother. He loved to be one step ahead of his father and jumped at the chance put him in his place.
I loved in the end how everything worked out for everyone.

Eden is such a refreshing character, from her first meeting with the Marquis, to her assortment of pets – including a horse that wears a straw hat and a pet squirrel named Acorn, the reader can’t help being charmed by her and it’s no wonder Chester can’t keep his mind off of her.
Ms. Cameron does a wonderful job with this story and sets a good pace, keeping it fresh and interesting with characters that are well thought out and likeable, and the epilogue was a delight.
4.5 Stars
A Rose for a Rogue by Collette Cameron is the sixth book in the A Waltz with a Rogue series and definitely worth reading.
Eden and Chester shouldn’t be attracted to each other because of their different standings in society and the ongoing family feud between the two families, but neither of them can seem to help themselves. They enjoy each other’s company and want to spend more time together, but Chester’s family has other plans that involve his soon-to-be betrothed.
I was given an ARC from the author/publisher. All conclusions are mine and mine alone.
Collette does it again!! A Rose for a Rogue by Collette Cameron is book 6 in A Waltz with a Rogue series. Collette has such a creative mind and her character are so amazing that you can’t help but fall in love them. I love that she has included great animal characters as well which Collette is famous for and also a blue rose. This is a standalone story and what a story it is. It is a page turner! This story is sad and cruel but has a HEA. This story has enemies, hate, kindness, a mother’s love, rape, rescue, illness, deceit, cruelty, a fire, verbal abuse, scandal, neglect, love at first sight and so much more. I highly recommend you read this story, you won’t regret it!
***This book was gifted to me and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Our hero, Manchester aka Chester, Marquess of Sterling has returned home to attend to his dying father (or so he is told) after being gone for 10 years. His father, the duke, and Chester had an argument years ago when his older brother was killed in a duel and the duke blamed Chester – so Chester left home.
Chester literally runs into our heroine, Eglantina Eden Haverdon as he was leaving a pub to go home. His horse has gone lame and he asks Eden for a ride to his home. He finds her very interesting and he discovers she is the illegitimate sister of the man who killed his brother in the duel. They have an accident on the trip to Chester’s home and Eden comes close to drowning. Chester insists Eden spend the night at his home – this leads to adventure, humor, fun, romance and eventually a HEA.
This was such a “feel good” story and even though it was short, it packed a punch. I loved Chester and Eden and they just fit together perfectly – add some lovable animals and the book had it all for me! I was gifted this ARC and I am so happy to be able to give you my recommendation- read it and you will enjoy yourself immensely!
A delightful story. When Eve stumbles into Chester and drops eggs on his shoes neither of them expected the instant attraction. Eve is an illegitimate child of a well to do man and Chester is next in line as a duke. As circumstance throws them together and they come to deeply care for each other, there are people who will do what they can to keep them apart. I loved the whimsical Eve and the daring Chester.
A Rose for Rogue was utterly delightful with it’s engaging characters, fast pace and charming romance, as well as a few surprise twists that added something special to Collette Cameron’s latest book. I highly recommend this book! I voluntarily reviewed it and the comments are my own.

I’m so pleased Chester has had his story, I loved him in an earlier book. A charming, often humorous story of two people from vastly different backgrounds finding love. Eden is a strong young woman caring for her mother & eking out a living growing & selling produce. I thought Simon was despicable, until he had his wake up call, I also disliked the duke but he did mellow with time. The attraction between Chester & Eden was apparent from their first meeting & only grew, they also found that they could talk to each other & liked each other as well as falling in love. I loved the blooming of the rose add a couple of distracting pets & I was a very happy satisfied reader who read this delightful book in two sittings
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
In A Rose for a Rogue, book 6 in her A Waltz with a Rogue series, Collette Cameron once again manages to weave an enchanting story filled with engaging characters, whimsy, humor, delightful pet animals and struggles the two main characters must overcome before they find their happily ever after.
From the first moment they meet, Manchester (Chester), Marquis of Sterling, is captivated by Eden Haverden. After receiving word that his father is very ill, Chester plans a return home after several years of absence. On the way home, he visits a nearby tavern after his horse is lamed. Upon exiting the tavern, he literally runs into Eden Haverden who upends her basket of eggs onto his boots. From that moment on, Chester is captivated by Eden and begs a ride home from her.
Eden is the illegitimate sister of a man who killed Chester’s older brother in a ridiculous duel years before. His brother had been the favored son and his father blamed Chester for his death as well as Eden’s family. Both of them have obstacles to overcome. As the sole support for her ill mother, Eden has done her utmost to live a scandal-free life due to the status of her birth. Chester has been diligent about the life he has led and wants to remove the taint of a sinful duchy.
I loved both of these main characters. Rightfully so, Eden is wary of trusting anyone of the ton or gentry. It took her longer to believe in Chester as she first thought him a charming rogue. Though Eden would be deemed unsuitable by his peers, Chester was so attracted to her and found her so unexpected that he knew she was perfect for him. He knows sooner than her that he wants her in his life permanently. His challenge is to find the right moment to convince her. Not helping in this situation is his conniving father, the Duke DeCourcy.
If you want a delightful, sweet romance to read and enjoy, I sincerely recommend this work by Collette Cameron. I was lucky to receive an ARC from the author and offer this voluntary and unbiased review.
On his way home to be with his dying (so he claims) father, Manchester, Lord Sterling, meets Miss Eglantina Eden Haverden. Miss Eden is lovely, cheerful, and has a wonderful sense of humor. She has a menagerie of odd pets and puts a sunbonnet on her horse. Chester is taken with her almost immediately. The problem is that the families are involved in a feud. Neither family wants to see them together. Can Chester convince them to end the feud? Is there a way for him and Miss Eden to be together? Chester is pretty smart, so it is possible.
A Rose for a Rogue is a delightful addition to the Waltz With a Rogue series. Chester and Eden have great chemistry. They would both like to help the families make amends within and between the families. The old Duke and Eden’s brother are stubborn and mean, but possibly redeemable. The story flows along quickly with a good dose of action and drama, as well as a surprise or two, and a blue rose.
We meet Manchester “Chester” Marquis of Sterling (from Wallflower’s Wicked Wager) during his trip to his father’s home. The old cranky duke wants his son married off. Chester has other ideas. He needs some assistance after his horse is injured and darling Miss Eden gives him a lift home. After an accident she must spend the night at his home. She is the illegitimate daughter of his father’s enemy and being under the same roof doesn’t go over well with the Duke. It doesn’t take Chester long to fall in love and realize he needs Eden (and her array of pets) but convincing Eden to accept and trust him is a whole other story. Eden doesn’t trust the “upper” crust. Her mother and Eden have lived content in a cottage off her father’s land and her Half brother is not happy about it. When Simon learns that his sister has spent an unchaperoned night with the enemy he has some words. Words that Chester does not like. Their argument gets Eden and her mother thrown out. Now she must find work and does (as Chester’s housekeeper) and provide for her mother. Now Chester has his work cut out for him. Eden is his heart and he really must make her see it.
Good story about a good deed that does not go unpunished. Loved Mr. Wiggles the dog. I received an ARC of this book.
A great historical read by Collette Cameron.
I purchased in an anthology
When I read a story by this author, I know I am always in for some whimsical characters and words I have not heard used in a long time and I love it! Chester, Marquess of Sterling has come home after years away due to word of his dying father. By happenstance ( or was it?) his horse goes lame at the tavern and he gets a ride from Eden (Eglantina Eden Haverden) to his home. Of course Eden has her beloved dog with her and her horse has a sun bonnet on its head! Chester is totally enchanted and finds out she is the illegitimate sister of the man who killed his brother years ago. One thing leads to another and as he takes her to her home, she shows him her rose garden and there is the blue rose with buds on it. I adored Eden! She was very whimsical with her pet squirrel Acorn and menagerie of people and animals. Chester was just swoon worthy and great interaction between the two. I loved Chester’s thoughts “There was something truly unique about Miss Eden Haverden”. Can the legendary rose bring them together even though their families had been enemies? You will be totally enchanted by this story and heave a heartfelt sigh at the end. This was part of the Rogues to Lovers collection
