This reviewer says it best: As in Houston’s previous books, this yarn has all of the elements, a murder mystery, a bit of romance, and my favorite, the wonderful interactions Jake has with his animals, Fred, his golden retriever, and a new found kitten who tries to steal the show. Houston is able to tell his story without gratuitous violence or sex. Richard Houston is a two-time USA Today Best … two-time USA Today Best selling author whose amateur sleuth solves murder mysteries in Colorado and the Missouri Ozarks with his Golden Retriever and widowed, sixty-nine year old neighbor.

A bit strange when the main character went snooping for relics at the end!
I’ve enjoyed all these “to die for” books I’ve read. Love the dog and Jake.
I love all of Richard’s “To Die For” books!!! Love both characters and especially love Fred!!!
I have read all but one of these books! Have in joy them all. I have told my friends about them!
I like any thing with a good dog – and this is a different kind of story – not the usual 1-2-3 good read
I very seldom put down a book without finishing it. This was one of the few that I have. The story line was difficult to get into and the writing not easy to follow. Would not tecommend this book.
Very entertaining, with quite a bit of humor mixed in with the mystery. Of course, the dog is an endearing part of the story, as in the others in this series.
Love these characters and dog
An entertaining mystery. Very humerus events lead you to who did it.
I liked the dog but not much else. A totally unbelievable plot.
Interesting. A drunk but good natured neighbor and a broke writer/computer hacker solve a murder.
Enjoyed this book
always entertaining
This was a fun book to read, lots of wit. Jake is helping his friend and her sister find relics stolen by grave robbers from their great great grandfather’s grave. I recommend this book for pure pleasure.
Good read.
Loved all the characters, especially Fred! Very original to have the smart dog find clues. Fun, interesting mystery!
Loved it
Good Characters with an easy story line
Easy read. Short. Doesn’t require much concentration to follow. Relatable characters Wondering if it’s self published, because it could use more editing. It could use more meat, almost as if it’s an outline for a full length novel. Maybe I’ve just been reading books thst are too long and involved, lately!!
I’ve read them all and will continue to do so.
One of my favorite e-book authors. Looking forward to more books by Mr. Houston
