With the same incomparable style and warm, inviting voice that have made her beloved by millions of readers far and wide, New York Times bestselling author Fannie Flagg has written an enchanting Christmas story of faith and hope for all ages that is sure to become a classic. Deep in the southernmost part of Alabama, along the banks of a lazy winding river, lies the sleepy little community known … community known as Lost River, a place that time itself seems to have forgotten. After a startling diagnosis from his doctor, Oswald T. Campbell leaves behind the cold and damp of the oncoming Chicago winter to spend what he believes will be his last Christmas in the warm and welcoming town of Lost River. There he meets the postman who delivers mail by boat, the store owner who nurses a broken heart, the ladies of the Mystic Order of the Royal Polka Dots Secret Society, who do clandestine good works. And he meets a little redbird named Jack, who is at the center of this tale of a magical Christmas when something so amazing happened that those who witnessed it have never forgotten it. Once you experience the wonder, you too will never forget A Redbird Christmas.

Loved everything all the characters, story plots within the story. The small home town feeling and how the town comes together to help a little girl. And the wonderful bird the stold all their hearts & blessed their lives
I really enjoyed this book. Fannie Flagg’s characters are always interesting and down to earth and the stories are heartwarming, but not in a sappy way. It’s worth your time.
Charming Christmas read
I loved everything about this book.
I always enjoy Fannie Flagg books and this was no exception.
Fannie Flagg is an author like no other. she has characters that are so interesting that you read as fast as you are able just to see what they are doing with their lives. Who else could make a red bird the major part of a story with such warmth. Throw in an unwanted child, some almost Senior citizens and you have everything you need for a Fannie Flagg success.
I really enjoyed this book. Will be looking for more books this author.
Fannie Flagg is such a good story teller and this is a sweet Christmas story. Her characters are likeable and she develops her story with wit and charm. Highly recommend reading over the Christmas him or any time.
Loved this wonderful little Christmas gift….always enjoy Fannie Flagg and this was special.
This was a delightful read about a small town crew of delightful characters. My personal favorite is Mildred, the golden gal who had trouble expressing her positive thoughts. I too know someone named Mildred who is more adept at saying what’s wrong in the world than what’s right, but when she does give praise it feels like gold.
The parallel plot line among the red bird and Patsy worked well. I loved the feel good ending.
The setting is perfect for this story that I’m glad I listened to the day after Christmas. Fanny Flagg is an amazing author, narrator, and story teller.
I have read A Redbird Christmas every Christmas season since I got it. I know everything that’s about to happen and most of what everybody’s going to say, but I still come back year after year. For many years I yearned to go there, thinking it was impossible. But on a whim, I Googled the location and found it is a real place, Magnolia Springs, Alabama! A few of the characters are based on real people that live, or lived there, and it is the only town in the US where mail is actually delivered by boat. There is a B&B and a restaurant in one of the buildings referenced in the book. A bucket list trip for sure, hopefully for my next birthday.
somewhat witty not as amusing as i had hoped for.
Love it – a real “make you feel good” story!!!!
Sweet story – I loved “Fried Green Tomatoes,” and hoped this would equal it, but really, what could top that one! It is written with humor, and the characters feel like they could be real, small-town folks, but it got a little too unrealistic for me. It WAS, however, an nice antidote for the dark thrillers I’d been reading, and was just right for a Christmas season uplift.
Another fun story from Fannie Flagg.
A good Christmas read, but not her beswt
I love this author! I have read several of her books and have not been disappointed yet. It’s a story anyone can relate to.
In typical Flagg style, she pulls you in and puts you there. The characters are people you wish you knew and by the end of the story, you begin looking for another of her gems!
A very sweet Christmas story.
It was a fun holiday read. Jack (the redbird) and Patsy (the little girl) were a heart-warming duo.
