With the same incomparable style and warm, inviting voice that have made her beloved by millions of readers far and wide, New York Times bestselling author Fannie Flagg has written an enchanting Christmas story of faith and hope for all ages that is sure to become a classic. Deep in the southernmost part of Alabama, along the banks of a lazy winding river, lies the sleepy little community known … community known as Lost River, a place that time itself seems to have forgotten. After a startling diagnosis from his doctor, Oswald T. Campbell leaves behind the cold and damp of the oncoming Chicago winter to spend what he believes will be his last Christmas in the warm and welcoming town of Lost River. There he meets the postman who delivers mail by boat, the store owner who nurses a broken heart, the ladies of the Mystic Order of the Royal Polka Dots Secret Society, who do clandestine good works. And he meets a little redbird named Jack, who is at the center of this tale of a magical Christmas when something so amazing happened that those who witnessed it have never forgotten it. Once you experience the wonder, you too will never forget A Redbird Christmas.

Great book for light reading. Oswald and friends will capture your heart. Good read.
Fanny Flagg helps spark the joy of Christmas with this tale of small town community
For me a four-star review means I liked the book a lot. Generally, there doesn’t have to be something I disliked about it to dock it a star, it just means I thought it was great, I’d recommend it, but there are other books I like just a little bit more.
RECAP: A little redbird named Jack is at the center of this story. Jack was shot by some teenage hooligans and a small-town Alabama store owner nurses him back to health – kind of. Though Jack’s not healthy enough to fly free, he’s healthy enough to fly around the town’s only grocery store. It’s there that the whole town falls in love with Jack, including Patsy, a little girl who is soon loved every bit as much as Jack. I don’t want to spoil the story for you, but suffice it to say, it’s totally worth reading. It’s funny and heartwarming.
BLUSH FACTOR: Nothing to speak of. Perhaps a bad word or two, but I just finished the book a few hours ago and I can’t remember what they were.
THE WRITING: Excellent.
STAND-ALONE OR CLIFFHANGER ENDING? Stand-alone
CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT: Fantastic. I loved each of the characters and I could completely picture each one in my mind.
BOTTOM LINE: A Redbird Christmas is a story of love, determination, hope and forgiveness. I highly recommend it.
Just love the pace and humor of this story. I almost believe I am in the midst of the rural activity.
A nice story !
My Book Club loved this book. In our current world, a book that left its readers feeling happy is welcomed. Not having cardinals in the NW, learned about their appeal – understandable now. Also got to hear Fannie Flagg do some Audible for the book which was a treat!
This book was a perfect Christmas read. Contains all the things that make for a joyous and peaceful Christmas wrapped up in one sweet book
A delightful story.
As much fun as any Fannie Flagg book, which I always love.

I love Fannie Flag books; this one was very moving.
Loved the characters and the village setting. Oh, if we could all live like that.
I couldn’t put it down until the end. It made me feel so good I wished it was a real place I could go to live.
A great book to read, especially during the holiday season. If it doesn’t bring a tear to your eyes, you have no heart!
I didn’t think I could be blown over by a bood, I read so many…but Fannie Flagg has entered my list of awesome authors. This book grabbed my heart strings in many facets and I read it with love from start to finish.
This is one of my favorite Christmas books and as a collector of Christmas books, I’ve read a lot. I was already a fan of Fannie Flagg’s writing, and this is one of my favorites- a heartwarming story to inspire your holiday spirit.
Easy read I couldn’t stop reading . read it all in one morning.
Fannie Flagg is always a treat to read!!
Started reading Fannie Flag when Fried Green Tomatoes became popular. Over the years, reading her books when they came out, I have never been disappointed. This novel has a Chicagoan (like me) going down South for his health. Sharing the experiences he had, told with Flag’s unerring gift for making her scenes come alive, was a delight. I fell into this book, and didn’t come up for air til the final word.
I picked this up at a library sale and I am so grateful I did. Like a warm magnolia breeze. I loved the town and the characters. If you haven’t reaf Fannie Flagg, (she wrote fried Green Tomatoes) I highly recommend this and her.
