With the same incomparable style and warm, inviting voice that have made her beloved by millions of readers far and wide, New York Times bestselling author Fannie Flagg has written an enchanting Christmas story of faith and hope for all ages that is sure to become a classic. Deep in the southernmost part of Alabama, along the banks of a lazy winding river, lies the sleepy little community known … community known as Lost River, a place that time itself seems to have forgotten. After a startling diagnosis from his doctor, Oswald T. Campbell leaves behind the cold and damp of the oncoming Chicago winter to spend what he believes will be his last Christmas in the warm and welcoming town of Lost River. There he meets the postman who delivers mail by boat, the store owner who nurses a broken heart, the ladies of the Mystic Order of the Royal Polka Dots Secret Society, who do clandestine good works. And he meets a little redbird named Jack, who is at the center of this tale of a magical Christmas when something so amazing happened that those who witnessed it have never forgotten it. Once you experience the wonder, you too will never forget A Redbird Christmas.

Looking for an uplifting, humorous, and touching story to read during the holiday season? Look no further! This is Fannie Flagg at her best. It is the story of a man dying of emphysema moving from Chicago to the coast of Alabama hoping a warmer climate will be good for his health. He finds it good for his body, soul, and mind. I laughed out loud in a couple of places with such unexpected humor. This is a quick read, but it is not a “fluff read”. The layers of community, friendship, and love are deep. I highly recommend this book!
Fannie Flagg is a wonderful writer. I will read anything with her name on it.
What can I say other than Fanny Flagg?! She never disappoints.
I really liked this book, the characters were great and by the end of the book you really cared about them.
Charming book of small town in Alabama with the quirky characters you’d expect from Fannie Flagg. Wonderful description of the region. The story is an enjoyable tale of people with kindness and giving hearts. Very uplifting for a holiday read.
Love all Fannie Flaggs books. Wish she would put out more!!!
In this tale as the plot unwinds you find yourself turning the page to see what happens next. The characters are likeable even the red bird, Jack, holds your attention even after death. This is a warm heartfelt story about Lost River and it inhabitants, evolving around a orphan girl, Pasty and her best friend Jack. I highly recommend this book.
One of my all time favorite Christmas books. Heartwarming and beautiful with Flagg’s charming wit.
I love all of Flagg’s books. They are all so well-written with great twists and some have a little supernatural bent to them . A Redbird Christmas was so sweet and heartwarming. I loved the characters.
On my favorites list.
I really liked the heart of the people in this book.
It was a wonderful read with wonderful characters.
Made you want to live in or at least visit the small town and river. Not realistic but fun reading and uplifting.
I love Fannie Flag books & am just finishing this one. Relaxing, easy read & so enjoyable after a hectic Christmas season.
A second chance at life, turns out to be magical for Oswald and the little girl who warms all the town’s hearts.
Loved this book!
Sentimental without being sickly sweet, romantic without being predictable, and unashamedly uplifting. A perennial Christmas read.
I really enjoyed this sweet Christmas story. I love southern small town stories. The way people help each other their sometimes quirky ways.
