Book one in the Brilliance Trilogy…It all started with a note, just a simple note hand written by a woman I didn’t know, never even met. But in that note is perhaps every answer to every question I’ve ever had in my life. And because of that note, I look for her, but find him. I’m drawn to his passion, his talent, a darkness in him that somehow becomes my light, my life. Kace August is rich, … is rich, powerful, a rockstar of violins, a man who is all tattoos, leather, good looks and talent. He has a wickedly sweet ability to play the violin, seducing audiences worldwide. Now, he’s seducing me. I know he has secrets. I don’t care. Because you see, I have secrets, too.
I’m not Aria Alard, as he believes. I’m Aria Stradivari, daughter to Alessandro Stradivari, a musician born from the same blood as the man who created the famous Stradivarius violin. I am as rare as the mere 650 instruments my ancestors created. Instruments worth millions. 650 masterpieces, the brilliance unmatched. 650 reasons to kill. 650 reasons to hide. One reason not to: him.

Aria is a woman with a lot of secrets. While searching for her missing brother, she stumbles into a world she’s done everything to avoid. But she can’t resist the allure of it, especially because Kace is very much a part of that world and he is a man who makes it impossible to turn away. Dark and delicious, he commands a room and commands her attention without a word. A violin rockstar, he’s rich and famous… and he’s still just a man. A man who wants what and who he wants and he most definitely wants Aria.
“Once you go upstairs with me,” he says, his voice low and rough, for my ears only, “you’re all mine. And I don’t promise to be a gentleman about it.”
But again, Aria has secrets and while she knows she needs to reveal them to Kace before things go any deeper, she doesn’t. And while he bares his soul, she gives him bits and pieces. Suddenly they’re involved in a passionate affair and he wants her to be a part of every facet of his life. It’s obvious that he trusts her. Now she needs to learn to trust him in return.
“I’ve learned in life that the facade of truth destroys more than outright lies.” – Kace
When some truths hit too close to home, what will Aria do? Well, based on the intriguing cliffhanger, I don’t really have an idea. Aria acted just as I thought she would and I can only hope that she steps up more as a heroine. I’m a bit disappointed in her and I’m desperate for that to change. Considering the fact that the story is being told from her perspective, I expected some growth from her and maybe that will be something that will be seen in the books to come. Honestly, I’d appreciate Kace’s voice. He’s such a strong character and deserves to have his side heard.
This book was very reminscent of LRJ’s Inside Out series, especially with visits from past characters, and I’m still a bit confused by why Aria’s heritage is so desperate and dangerous. How can playing a violin or enjoying music automatically link you to your history? There are so many people in the world who have that kind of appreciation. Maybe that is also something that will be further discussed as this story grows. I’m looking forward to continuing this trilogy and getting more Kace!
“And somehow there is a sanctuary in two like souls haunted by demons of the same evil.”
Okay…I know, it’s a trilogy. That tells me to expect a cliffy. But I’m always still surprised when it happens. Trying and trying to get that last page to turn. Not ready for it to be over…
I’m a big fan of music-themed stories and I really enjoyed this one. The author teased me to within an inch of my life with all the exciting secrets and suspense. I’m sooooo curious! And Kace, lawdy, that man is so delicious. At the beginning of the book, the author shares her muse and I googled him. I kept that delicious image in my head throughout…sigh.
I can’t tell you what happens, I can only tell you how much I enjoyed it and am looking forward to spending more time with these amazing characters. I can also tell you how much I love it when some of my favorite characters from other series pop up, especially those sexy Walker Security guys, they’re so badass and funny. I can’t wait to get my grabby hands on A Wicked Song. The line forms here…
Oh, it’s a bittersweet symphony called life.
Aria is an antiques dealer. She buys and sells antiques for her wealthy clients. Aria has a secret. She is a direct descendent of the Stradivarius legacy. The reason why she is keeping it secret is she doesn’t want people to hound her for secrets about the Stradivarius. She meets the world-famous violinist Kace August at Auction one night and they are immediately attracted to each other, however, Kace stays away. from Aria (Only for a little while) In the meantime, Aria is worried about her brother Gio who hasn’t contacted her for several days after leaving on one of his adventures. I don’t normally read cliffhangers in books but I took an exception after reading the reviews for this book. After that, I just had to read it! I loved it. I love the characters. They were well-defined. Three dimensional and oh so interesting and very sexy. Lol. I loved Aria. She was intelligent and competent. Kace was very sexy and talented. I loved what he says when he meets Aria about the song remaining the same. I thought that was so sexy and cool. I melted. Lol. This book is very well-written and smart. I enjoyed it very much. I am a new fan of this author and will be definitely read the next two books as well as her others. I am going to sign up to her newsletter as soon as possible and suggest you dear reader to do the same. Lol. I received a complimentary ARC copy of this book from Netgalley.com and the author in exchange for an honest review.
Even though I knew it was going to end in a cliffhanger, it still makes me want to throw my kindle and stomp on it for good measure.
Aria is trying to find out what happened to her brother when she runs into Kace and they both feel an immediate attraction. It’s not a really good time for Aria, she has too much going on but then again he’s a well known world rock artist on the violin! He has things he’s not being all the way honest about either. Who is going to give up their secrets first?
The more these two learn about each other, the more I wanted to know and realized that the author was going to tease me!!! Cannot wait to get to the next book in this series and see what the author has in store for us!
Lisa Renee Jones gives us a love story shrouded in mystery and suspense. The plot is well-written and the characters are wonderful yet mysterious. Secrets are being kept all the way around with many of the characters, and we are left hanging on the edge of our seat by the end. This does end in a cliffhanger.
I really enjoyed this introduction to the Brilliance Trilogy. We are introduced to new characters and there are characters from previous books that make an appearance. The guys from Walker Security also make an appearance, which I love! There is great chemistry between Kace and Aria. They have an instant connection and something draws them together. When they finally come together, their passion is explosive but each of them is hiding things for different reasons. Kace is a violinist who plays rock music. He has a mysterious aura and a dark edge. Aria Alard runs a business with her brother, Gio where they find rare items for their clients for a fee. Aria’s brother goes missing. This leads her on a wild goose chase for Sofia, someone who wrote her brother a letter. She is hoping this will help her find her brother but will this journey to find her brother lead her into danger? The cliffhanger confirmed some suspicions but also leaves us with a whole lot more questions. The only thing that would have made this story better, is if it were told in dual POVs. I feel that not having both POVs took a little away from the story. With that being said, this is still a very good read that will have you hanging on to every word and dying to know what happens next!

What an amazing beginning to this new trilogy!!! I loved everything about this book!
Aria is a heroine who I connected with immediately although I couldn’t tell you why. Her character was just written in such a manner that she felt real. I empathized with her struggles and was drawn into her family’s past while curious to know more.
We never get Kace’s point of view, and while I missed it a time or two, it was simply because I’m used to having the hero’s POV. The lack of it did not hinder the story at all and I believe that was one reason why I felt such a strong connection to Aria. Because I never really got to know Kace, I loved the way he utilized the moments he saw Aria to make his move. He’s definitely inching his way into the LJR hero that I adore.
Aria’s and Kace’s relationship builds a step at a time which was refreshing instead of the insta-everything, which I don’t mind but have read quite a bit of lately. While this doesn’t necessarily have a lot of drama, I found this to have a nice solid foundation for what may occur further on in the trilogy. I found this book to have a nice pace to it, never repetitive. We also see plenty of characters from different series which was the icing on the cake. (No need to read previous books in order to follow this one.)
At a time when I’m struggling to concentrate for long on a book, this one pulled me in immediately and had me hooked. The characters quickly captured my attention and the “mystery” at the core of this story insured I would definitely be moving forward.
I’m so excited to dive into another one of Lisa Renee Jones’ series and it’s in the same world of her Inside Out series which I loved reading. I am so curious about Aria’s and Gio’s past which is touched on in this book. Kace has his own secrets and I’m wondering why he keeps telling Aria that she will run if she knows. Of course there’s a cliffhanger but I have confidence that Lisa will not let me down and there will be more revealed in the next book. This is such an intriguing, romantic, fast paced story and I can’t wait for the next book. I received an ARC from the author and this is my honest opinion and voluntary review.
A Reckless Note is the first book in a trilogy. There’s mystery, suspense and some heat. This book will suck you in and leave you wanting to know more.
Aria’s brother, Gio, is missing. She is lead to an auction house trying to find more information about a mysterious woman who is connected to her brother. Kace August, is a Rockstar, but not in the traditional sense, he plays the violin. There is some mystery surrounding him and as the story unfolds in this book more you begin to learn more information not only him, but also Aria and her family. Aria and Kace have great chemistry from the moment they met and definitely heated up the pages a few times in this book. I can’t wait to see where their story goes in the future books.
I love that there is some history mixed in with the fiction. It gives a fun twist to the story. I can’t wait to see how that aspect continues as the story between Aria and Kace unfolds.
A Reckless Note will leave you guessing left and right and it does end on a cliffhanger that will leave you on the edge of your seat. A MUST READ!
GAH! Of course this ended on a cliffhanger! Did we expect anything less of this author? We also received a very good, very sexy, very vibrant beginning to this trilogy. Aria Alard is virtually hiding from her ancestry but is she hiding successfully? Her brother Gio has decided he wants to embrace their Stravi roots and find the recipe but has been missing for weeks. Now Aria has met the famous Kace August, a violinist who owns several Stratavius and when he meets Aria he is captivated. Is it her or is it because of who she is? Bring on book 2…NOW!
I was captivated by A Reckless Note from Lisa Renee Jones. It was an intense and moving story filled with brilliance and intrigue.
Aria made me love her from the outset.
Kace is mysterious and a little wild, but hey, he’s a rock star with a difference. He’s managed to make violin playing sexy and cool, so it’s kinda expected. Aria is fascinated by him, and in turn, so is the reader.
As with most of Lisa’s stories, this has a high heat point, the characters are irresistibly drawn together and they have secrets they want to keep hidden. It’s a fabulous start to a brand new trilogy and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here, especially with the way the book ended.
This just grabs you right from the beginning. I love that it felt like jumping in with both feet and not being sure where you’ll land.
It immediately starts off with Aria’s missing brother and the mysterious background of her family. You don’t learn a lot in this first book and it does end on a pretty big cliffhanger but it really had me guessing throughout.
I love that Kace is not your average rock star. He’s a rock star who’s also a violinist. That’s unique and made him more interesting. He also has some mysteriousness about him, but the one thing you won’t question about him is his attraction to Aria. In fact, his attention to her is pretty addicting.
I can’t wait to see where these two will go from here. That ending could mean several things. I also can not wait to find out about what’s going on with her family. Great first book!
Looking for complicated? Search no further than intriguingly, mysterious, ever sexy, Kace August. Open a Lisa Renee Jones romance and everything else becomes background noise. Reckless Note only scratches the surface of what looks to be an ever evolving thrill ride. A CAN’T PUT DOWN, MUST READ!
Amazing start to a wonder trilogy!
I really can’t say enough about this book. It keep you captivated from the very beginning and it’s hard to put it down.
I love Kace and Aria, but that ending, I’ve just felt something was off this entire book. Of course, Lisa keeps hanging on by a thread and now we wait for book two.
Lisa Renee Jones is a brilliant write and knows how to keep you hooked and begging for more.
Aria and Case meet at an auction and sparks fly with them. Case is a musician and Aria comes from a long line of them. This is an interesting start to the trilogy. The story will keep you wanting more as you can tell trouble is coming down the road for this couple.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley.
I really enjoyed the first book in The Brilliance
Trilogy. The concept behind it intrigued me. To
blend the original creator of the violin with Aria’s
ancestry was really interesting.
I was instantly hooked, especially with all the
characters in the book, which are from some of
her other book series. All the mystery surrounding
Aria’s family and the Stradivarius was genius.
You don’t really know who the bad guys are, even
when you think you do, you’re still left wondering,
especially at the end of book one.
I don’t know why it took me so long to read this book because I have read the author books before and I knew I was in for a great story.
An interesting concept with great characters and a bit of everything, from angsty moments to chemistry of the charts, from suspenseful twists to the cliffhanger ending that makes me want more and I’m really looking forward to read the next books in the trilogy because now I’m hooked.
OOOH! I wasn’t sure where this book would lead, but the synopsis had me intrigued and I was very quickly consumed by this story! I was lost in Aria’s story. The little glimpses into her childhood and how she became the woman she is today. She’s strong and has a lot on her shoulders, but she’s up for the challenge. She wasn’t expecting Kace and she certainly wasn’t expecting the pull toward him. The two of them were a perfect fit and they had a lot in common. I was completely lost in Aria’s journey and the chemistry between her and Kace was off the charts!
It took until about Chapter 19 before I could get into it. I liked the story but I didn’t like how long it took for somthing to grab my attention. I gave it 5 stars because of the story line and I knew with Lisa that it would eventually get to the parts of the story without all of the descriptive parts. I knew I would need to read to the end of the trilogy just to complete the story.
I loved the story of Kace and Aria along with all of the twists and turns to know that the love they share is endless.
Aria is in hiding from powerful people that wants the secret recipe her ancestor created and they will do pretty much anything to get it. Aria is worried about her brother who disappeared and does not return her messages. She isn’t used to letting anyone in worried about their safety and whoever may come for her.
Aria is determined to find all the Stradivarius violins because they can lead to the secret everyone is willing to kill for. She is able to determine if the violin is real or a replica based on the information her father taught her. Oh … did I mention Aria is the heir to the Stradivarius history.
When Aria finds out that a violin is going to be auctioned off, she is determined to see it. She is willing to do whatever it takes including talk to the man in charge of the VIP list himself, no matter how intimidating he is. Only he is not the only one sitting at the table, someone from her past is there as well Kace August.
Kace is a very private person and is pretty much closed off from everyone. He is a famous violin player/rock star. Aria is the only one that is able to get through his tough exterior. He is willing to do whatever it takes in order to get Aria and keep her.
I put off reading the trilogy as long as I could, I really hate when you really start getting into a story and then having to wait for the continuation to find out what happens. I am used to being drawn into the world with characters, but Kace and Aria are unlike any characters I’ve meshed with. These two are so drawn to each other, you can see and feel the electrical charge that connects them. They both have so much baggage and hurt from their pasts that they both believe no one will be able to wade through it and stay with them. Can’t wait to continue and get energized right along with them.
Surprising read with a sexy as sin violinist!
A Reckless Note was beautifully harmonically written, and it’s the first book in the Brilliance Trilogy. Let the author pull you in with it’s bravado, cantor and majestic melody and have it whisk you away with it’s brilliance.
Aria keeps her families secrets tight to her chest and is in search for her brother, but at the first turn she comes in contact with world renowned violinist, Kace. What’s a girl to do with a handsome and talented musician? In search for the one thing that will get her closer to her family, will her secrets unravel and come crashing down around her? In the process, her and Kace become closer but with his ‘hot and cold’ nature, what is he hiding as well?
I was blown away by the magnitude of Aria and Kace’s chemistry. I felt like their lies only intensified their connection even more which made this story excel brighter. While reading, I couldn’t release my eyes from when the author described Kace through Aria’s eyes. I yearned for more and it’s like I could picture his presence and emotions all from the authors words. Brilliant
