After Hurricane Fanny hit Blessings, Georgia, Rowan Harper is the only surviving member of her family and rebuilding her life seems impossible. A decade ago, Bowie James and his mother were forced out of town, but now his grandmother needs him to help rebuild her home.
This heartwarming romance starts off with some excitement of the ‘Hatfield and McCoy’ kind and just gets better from there. The hero and heroine is strong, compelling characters that easily win over the hearts of readers as the sparks sizzle and pop with lots of chemistry. The relationship is sweet with a steady build of heat and romance throughout the story and invokes a whole range of emotions for readers to experience.
The plot is a steady paced romance with some thrilling excitement when some of Bowie’s estranged family cause’s friction and trouble throughout the story, but for the most part, this story focuses on two people who fall for each other by helping out others and trying to rebuild lives in the aftermath of a deadly hurricane. The way the author includes all the inhabitants of this small town makes the story seem more realistic and captivates readers’ hearts as they feel as if they really know the characters. This romance is truly an inspirational and delightful read that warms the heart and puts smiles on the faces of readers.
This is Book 8 in the Blessings, Georgia books. This is a really good sweet romance. Bowie returns to town to help his grandmother and help repair their home that was damaged in a tornado. He meets Rowan, who has been taken in by his family. There’s a lot of bad blood between him and the Boone family. And it all comes to a boil when he returns home. This was such a good book. It definitely will pull your emotions as you read it. I would highly recommend it if you are looking for a great read that has strong characters and a good hometown romance. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book that I received from Netgalley.
A Rainbow Above Us (Blessings, Georgia #8) was another great read by Sharon Sala. Hurricane Fanny seems to have affected everyone in Blessings. Rowan Harper is the only surviving member of his family. She is looking to rebuild her life but now that seems almost impossible. Bowie James has come back to Blessings to repair his grandmother’s house but doesn’t want to stay long. He was chased out of Blessings a decade ago and hasn’t forgiven the people responsible. Rowan and Bowie get closer to each other the longer they are near each other. I really enjoyed reading Rowan and Bowie’s story and can’t wait to read more by Sharon Sala.
Awesome book
Yeah! This book will take you back to Blessings Georgia. Hopefully you have visited before in the eight previous stories in this series. If not, it is okay but I have been in love with them all and definitely recommend.
Bowie and Rowan meet due to a horrible hurricane that has affected all in Blessings. Bowie’s grandma and aunt have taken Rowan under their wing even though all have been left destitute.
Bowie is our white knight, coming back to town to save the day for his family. He is an amazing man especially after the way his biological father’s family treated him 20 years before when he was just a boy. Ugh my blood is boiling a bit. Yours will too after you read this book. Eek.
I am madly in love with the journey this couple takes us on. You weave in and out of a beautiful community full of hope and kindness. Don’t get me wrong there are some injustices that still are occurring but it makes my heart happy to see Bowie find some resolution and retribution. Some people are there own worst enemies.
Love this story and the sweet classic feel of romance stories from yesteryear. It is worthy of all five stars. Happy Reading!
There are trigger warnings for violence and sexual assault in this story.
I love the Blessings, Georgia series and look forward to each one. This one shows the aftermath of the Hurricane that occurred in Forever My Hero. Bowie James has come to Blessings to help repair his grandmother’s home that was flooded in the hurricane. However, his memories of this town are far from good. He and his mother were driven from this town by Judson Boone and his family. When he was still a teen, the men in the Boone family beat him to a pulp and told his mother to leave town. This had to do with a family feud and hate that spans generations.
He meets with his gran and his Aunt Ella in their temporary housing in the nursing home. Another hurricane refugee is Rowan Harper, a woman that has lost her family and her home. Their interactions form the love story for this book. I throughly enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one in this series. Sharon Sala writes characters with courage, grit and faith in their hearts.
Thank you Netgalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for this ARC.
Rowan Harper has lost everything, her home and her father, during Hurricane Fanny. She finds sanctuary with Pearl and Ella James in an assisted living facility as they await help from their grandson and nephew, Bowie. The facility has taken in those who have no place to go until they can make other plans. Bowie swore he would never return to Blessings, Georgia. He was beaten by the men in the family that his mother had accused of her own beating and rape, which produced Bowie. His mother is now gone and he is heading to Blessings to repair the damage, from the hurricane, to his grandmother’s home. Bowie is an honorable man and his return will cause situations that he will deal with one at a time in his own way. His one “blessing” in Blessings will be his introduction to Rowan. He owns his own construction company and had no plans to settle down as he goes from one site to the next in his motorhome. Will Rowan take a chance on him and the open road? A heartwarming and amazing story about the many lives and loves of Blessing! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
Bowie James, along with his mother, Billie Jo, left Blessings ten years ago. That night that his mom and he left still carries memories not forgotten. After a plea from his Aunt Ella, telling him how Hurricane Fanny destroyed his grandmother and aunt’s home, Bowie returns to Blessings to rebuild their home.
Ten years have done nothing to change the minds of a select few who do not want Bowie back, and the ones that Bowie’s mother fled from. The first day back, Bowie encounters two from the Boone family sent to make sure he gets the message that he’s not welcome. But, Bowie has grown up, and holds his own.
Bowie, whose plan is to surprise his Gran Pearl and Aunt Ella that he’s back in Blessings. He will be moving them into his Motorhome for the duration until the house is rebuilt. They’ve been staying at a nursing home, and formed a family unit with Rowan Harper, who lost her father and sole family member in the hurricane. Bowie refuses to leave Rowan behind, and makes room for her in the Motorhome.
As Bowie tackles his past, and deals with the Boone’s hatred, he finds a love with Rowan. An encounter with the son of one of the Boone’s brothers, allows for the beginning of change to end a feud.
I can’t say enough good things about the Blessings, Georgia series! Each book can be read as a stand alone, but the town people are often incorporated into other stories. Reading, the love that is written between family and formed by strangers, can be felt through the pages. I, highly recommend this series!
I received an ARC from NetGalley via Sourcebooks Casablanca and have voluntarily reviewed this book.
I want to start out by saying that the Blessings, Georgia series is one of the best small town, inspirational series out there! When I want a break from real life, I love to dive into this series and the latest book, A Rainbow Above Us did not disappoint me. Bowie James has returned home to help out his aunt and grandmother after a 20 year absence. I do not believe in revealing spoilers so if you want to know why he returned home and why he was gone so long, you will have to read the book but know that it was sad and ugly but he has come out on top of the cards that were dealt to him in life. His grandmother Pearl and and Ella have been living in a shelter ever since their home was destroyed in Hurricane Fanny. They have befriended another young survivor of the hurricane, Rowan Harper. Rowan has nothing left. Her father drowned in the flood following the hurricane and her home has been destroyed. These two lovely ladies have befriended her and for that she feels truly blessed. As a reader, you know from the first moment Bowie meets Rowan that he is going to be her hero but what he doesn’t know is that she is going to be the savior that his bruised soul needs. Sharon Sala gives us a great story about hatred and forgiveness, fear and triumph, loss and love. This story stands alone in the series but I recommend reading all the books so that you can get to know the great residents of the fictional town of Blessings and why I would love to live there!
It was so good to be back in Blessings, Georgia!
The characters are amazing and as always the writing is superb. Sharon Sala really knows how to tell a story.
I absolutely loved Bowie & Rowan. They just make the perfect couple.
Bowie James hasn’t been back to Blessings since he was a teenager and hadn’t ever really intended to ever come back, but his grans house was severely damaged by the hurricane and he plans to fix it for her. Bowie knows coming back could start some trouble with the Boone family but he never expected to be assaulted or have his vehicle vandalized within the first 24 hours of being back. Bowie though won’t let anything stand in his way of helping his gran.
Rowan Harper is all alone now that she’s lost her home and her father to the hurricane. She’s been seeking shelter at the nursing home and has become quite close to Pearl & Elle James.
When Bowie surprises his girls, he can’t leave Rowan behind, so he takes her with them.
Wow! Blessings is full of all kinds of Drama. I won’t say too much more, I don’t want to spoil the story, but I will say you definitely don’t want to miss this one.

I have only read one other book in this series, and like before, it reminds me of a 1950s movie, with the chatting dialogue and the southern flavor.
The story center mainly around Bowie James and on a lesser degree, Rowan Harper.
Bowie left years ago in the middle of the night with his mother, after he was beaten and his life was threatened. He is back only because his grandmother and aunt asked him for help. Their home was destroyed during Hurricane Fanny and are now living in a nursing home. Here they have taken Rowan , a young woman who lost her father and all her possessions in the hurricane, into their circle. He rescues them and takes them to his luxurious trailer.
Bowie’s return brings back the evil people that chased him away, but he is now a grown, honorable man able to defend himself.
Suffice is to say, that the story is at times heartbreaking. We meet the very dysfunctional Boone family, where the men are evil, and bullies . But karma has a way of showing up when you least expect it and their days of glory are numbered.
It’s a story of survival, overcoming the odds , redemption and in the end finding inner peace and love.
Though at times I found the dialogue too wordy and would have cut out 1/10 of it, as well as a little different from other books by this author, it still was entertaining.
I was entrusted a copy of this book by Netgalley. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
It’s been a while since I’ve been to Blessings, Georgia, and I was long overdue for a visit, so I was delighted to be able to read an early copy of this book. I had forgotten what a great fictional town Blessings is, as well as the amazing talent this author has for creating a touching, evocative storyline. If you like a romance with a hero and heroine who are flawed but immensely loveable, a story that elicits every kind of emotion to give your heart a workout, and colorful, endearing secondary characters, you’ll love Bowie and Rowan’s story.
Bowie James left Blessings, GA, as a teenager, vowing never to return, until he received a letter from his grams and Aunt Ella explaining their house had been destroyed by a hurricane. Bowie just happens to be a builder, and there’s nothing he won’t do for his family, but the welcoming committee waiting for him when he returns to Blessings is the same that ran him out of town. Bowie isn’t that scrawny kid anymore, and the welcoming committee is in for a big surprise when they try to take on Bowie this time.
Rowan lost her mom as a child and it’s always been her and her father and their farm. The hurricane destroyed their farm and took her father, so she’s all alone in the world until she meets Ella and Pearl. When Bowie goes to get “his girls” from the nursing home where they’ve been staying to take them to live with him in his RV during the house renovation, Rowan is automatically included.
I truly didn’t know if my heart would survive because this book was one emotional hit after another. It holds so much love, so many special moments, and is a story of redemption, second chances and the power of love. Don’t be mistaken, there is also an abundance of pain, sorrow, hatred, anger and the most vile evil, but it only serves to make the good that much better and the love more precious. This is one of those stories that will fill your heart, leave you with a smile, and stay with you long after the last page. Don’t miss this heart warming, uplifting, truly special read!
*I reviewed an advance copy of this book freely and voluntarily, having made no commitment to provide a review and receiving no compensation of any kind from any source for this review.
Let me start by saying I want that house on the cover.
I love this town, its people and the sense of family. Of course there’s a lot of gossip thrown in there too.
Bowie and Rowan are a great couple but the book held so much more. A senseless feud that has gone on for generations imploded, lives were changed forever.
I follow this author on social media and felt she put herself and family into some of these characters. No one is a stranger in Ms Sala’s well spun tales. I enjoyed this story immensely and can’t wait for the next one.
What a story to pound home the fact that secrets can tear families and relationships apart! This small town romance has more to do with family than romance. Bowie has returned to help what is left of his family, only to discover that the anger and hate that drove him and his mother away in the first place is still alive. But something has changed…he’s not a little boy who has to take it any more.
As he, his grandmother, aunt and the lovely young woman they have taken in come together to form a unique family, those responsible for his troubles and their actions come to light and their family deteriorates around them.
I found this book rather unique in that you really did get a good look inside both families. The romance was almost on the side, but was still important. I really loved this book and will go back to read those in the series that I have missed. Ms. Sala wrote a captivating book.
I was given a complimentary copy of this book via NetGalley. All thoughts are my own.
Love all her books — the characters are believable, everything is well-written and a pleasure to read.
Very good, Sharon Sala never misses on a good story with interesting characters.
Great book! A must-read book.
Sharon Sala has given us another wonderful, heart-warming story of hope and positivity. I love her complex, real-life characters, and the entire Blessings, Georgia community. There’s always so much wit, empathy, and wisdom in a Sharon Sala book. I’m going to need to read the whole series now.
Interesting the many different characters this small town has generated.
This was a sweet story with a new twist on the man coming back home and facing his past. Bowie is almost too good to be true but you can’t help but love him and all the supporting characters in Blessings. As always in this series the bad guys get their comeuppance and the good guys help those caught in the crossfire when it happens. I wish lifetime would make this a series. I’d say hallmark but I fear they would massacre it as they have
