From #1 Bestselling author Morgan Rice comes the debut of a dazzling new fantasy series. A Quest of Heroes (Book #1 in the Sorcerer’s Ring) revolves around the epic coming of age story of one special boy, a 14 year old from a small village on the outskirts of the Kingdom of the Ring. The youngest of four, the least favorite of his father, hated by his brothers, Thorgrin senses he is different … different from the others. He dreams of becoming a great warrior, of joining the King’s men and protecting the Ring from the hordes of creatures on the other side of the Canyon. When he comes of age and is forbidden by his father to try out for the King’s Legion, he refuses to take no for an answer: He journeys out on his own, determined to force his way into King’s Court and be taken seriously.
But King’s Court is rife with its own family dramas, power struggles, ambitions, jealousy, violence, and betrayal. King MacGil must choose an heir from amongst his children, and the ancient Dynasty Sword, the source of all their power, still sits untouched, waiting for the chosen one to arrive. Thorgrin arrives as an outsider and battles to be accepted, and to join the King’s Legion.
Thorgrin comes to learn he has mysterious powers he does not understand, that he has a special gift, and a special destiny. Against all odds he falls in love with the king’s daughter, and as their forbidden relationship blossoms, he discovers he has powerful rivals. As he struggles to make sense of his powers, the king’s sorcerer takes him under his wing and tells him of a mother he never knew, in a land far away, beyond the Canyon, beyond even the land of the Dragons.
Before Thorgrin can venture out and become the warrior he yearns to be, he must complete his training. But this may be cut short, as he finds himself propelled into the center of royal plots and counterplots, ones that may threaten his love and bring him down — and the entire kingdom with him.
With its sophisticated world-building and characterization, A Quest of Heroes is an epic tale of friends and lovers, of rivals and suitors, of knights and dragons, of intrigues and political machinations, of coming of age, of broken hearts, of deception, ambition and betrayal. It is a tale of honor and courage, of fate and destiny, of sorcery. It is a fantasy that brings us into a world we will never forget, and which will appeal to all ages and genders.

This book kicks off a 17 book series which Immediately reminded me of the Arthurian tales. There are enough differences that it is definitely a different story and I find myself having trouble putting it down. Beware the Grammar and context mistakes contained herein though. I’m almost finished with the ninth book but will probably not get any more …
I love finding a new fantasy series and this one is as fun to read as it is epic. When I got to the end it was ‘what? That’s the end? Where is the next book!’.
Thor is a fun hero to follow and I cannot wait to see what trouble he causes and how he gets out of it in the next installment.
This seems to be a knock off of Game of Thrones, Vikings, and I’m not sure what else. I ended up skimming half way through – which a rarely do. Any time someone wakes up they are confused, disoriented and they don’t know how they got there. Also, everyone screams! These are supposed to be big tough knights so they should shout, bellow or even …
This author’s books keep appearing for free and suck people into downloading them. Do not waste your time. Not certain how the author is managing to keep priming the reviews online but look at the well written 1 and 2 star reviews that fully analyze the book(s) – there are 17 very short ‘books’ in this series. While the initial plot had potential, …
A Quest of Heroes follows a young boy named Thorgrin that comes from a small village on the outskirts of the Kingdom of the Ring. His dream is to become part of the Kings army, which his father and brothers thinks is ridiculous considering is small stature. Thorgrin eventually runs away from home and heads to the King court to prove himself. …
An interesting plot, but so far the main character is so overpowered and blessed it’s making for a very boring read.
Poorly written; one dimensional characters; too D&D campaign, not enough believable story.
I read this book a few years ago, but I still love it. The story draws you out of your own world and places you into a land of fantasy and intrigue. The characters were easy to relate to and left me wanting to read more. There are quite a few books in this series and I read until book 13, which was all the author had out at the time. She has …
Tragic and scary but not in a good way. So formulaic that I knew what was going to happen next, so poorly written that I could tell what the character was going to say and do. Reminiscent (to be kind) of several series such as the Belgariad, which was an original when written. For example, in the Belgariad (which I actually liked), you always …
Morgan Rice is the equivalent fantasy writer of Mercedes Lackey. She writes so you think you are there, watching all her characters in all the action.
Once you start reading, theres just something in the story that will never make you want to stop turning the pages!!! <3
Awesome read !! Couldn’t put it down and bought the next book in the series as soon as I was finished reading this one ! It only gets better!
A fun series of books
Awesome book. I couldn’t put it down!
A Quest of Heroes (Part 1) is a very well done fantasy filled with many interesting characters and a good plot. A bit predictable but at times not. Having only read Part 1 I can’t say what twists and turns may turn up in the rest of the series but so far it’s intriguing and I can’t wait to read Book 2.
Really enjoyed these books I bought more to read and it got a little thready towards the end but overall a good read
Strictly a teen/YA book.
action packed
Morgan is a great author, I love this series. She does an awesome job getting you attached to the characters!
This is a really series. The timeline seems odd but the story is really good. Just new aware, it is a 17 book series.
