Love can come softly, like holiday snow. Or sweep you away like a riptide.World-class surfer Krystal Walters would have appreciated the beauty of her surroundings—a quaint cottage in a fragrant Portuguese olive grove—if a wipeout hadn’t changed all her holiday plans. Now, suffering the dizzying aftereffects of multiple concussions, she’s determined to make it home to Rhode Island for Christmas, … Island for Christmas, even if she has to defy doctor’s orders. Except those orders are being enforced by Adolfo Silva. A man as arrogant as he is ruggedly handsome.
Spending every waking moment working to make the family olive farm a success, Adolfo barely has time to savor a traditional Feliz Natal. But the moment Krystal disappears under a mountain of sea water, his focus shifts to a sun-kissed spitfire with golden hair, sky-blue eyes, and a will as immovable as his own.
Keeping her safe is his first priority, but this bold, courageous woman’s wings won’t be clipped. Before they can plant the seeds of a future together, he’ll have to convince her that spending Christmas—and maybe every holiday to come—with him isn’t the end of the world. Because she’s become the center of his.

” Portuguese Christmas” Josie Riviera narrated by Allyson Voller
I liked this story. It was an easy listen. If you like sweet and clean romance stories, I think you will enjoy this story, too.
Note: I received this audio book as a gift. This is my honest opinion.
Josie Riviera makes you long to travel. I’d never really thought about going to Portugal and now I would love to be able to go and no I don’t expect to find an Adolfo, although if I was younger that would be nice too. I love the interaction between everyone, Krystal, Adolfo, Victoria, Clemente and the boys, Bento and Bernardo. I also had never really considered how dangerous the sport of surfing could be. This was an excellent story and I enjoyed it very much.
Who would believe Krystal would find love in Portugal & perhaps have to give up her winning the championship surfing competition. She will have to choose which she wants? This is a sweet story. I received a free copy of the audible copy from the author. This is my unbiased, voluntary opinion.
Josie Rivera wrote a fun story full of stubborn and fun characters. A US surfer and a Portuguese farmer go head to head… will they find love? Will their stubbornness be too much for them to overcome? You need to read this to find out.
Crystal and Adolfo were both passionate and stubborn. She’s determined to get to a surfing championship after crashing and injuring her wrist and head in a competition. He’s determined to protect her from her own recklessness. They have several passionate rows in this book, which the narrator brings to life adding Portuguese accents for Adolfo and his family. I loved reading about all the wonderful food they made and their Christmas traditions. It made me want to plan a trip to Portugal. I thought it was great that Krystal found another love outside of surfing besides Adolfo in designing bathing suits. This was a clean holiday romance.
The Audible narrator has an upbeat tone with voice changes, inflections, and accents in all the right places that kept me listening to the end.
I loved this sweet Christmas story by Josie Riviera! I was kept up very late turning the pages! This story of surfer Krystal Walters and olive farmer Adolfo Silva has Krystal seriously injured due to a surfing wipeout and Adolfo as her rescuer and becoming her protector. She is rebelling and wants to compete in the finals and return to the US for Christmas. He is taking the doctor’s orders to heart and keeping a close eye on her. I loved these characters and this storyline. I just couldn’t put this one down as I needed to see how it ended. A wonderful story with beautiful descriptions of olive groves, some beaches beaches and the Portuguese Christmas customs!
This story was fun and you also learn a little about Christmas customs in Portugal. There is even bits of the language too. The characters were well thought out and the plot too; definitely researched not guessed. This story has a professional surfer at a surf championship in Portugal and an olive grower who wants to do more. This is a clean holiday romance.
I was given a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. A surfing accident and Krystal only wants to surf even if it’s against doctors orders and then make it home to Rhode Island by Christmas to her dad. But handsome strong willed Aldolfo see ‘s it differently, he wants her safe and maybe his? Need to read to find out. Recommend good read.
This book is a sweet, clean Christmas romance story. The author has set her story in Portugal, and makes it real with interesting details about Portuguese cuisine and Christmas customs.
The female protagonist is a surfer who is unable to surf for a while because she suffered a yet another concussion from a surfing mishap. She becomes upset with the male protagonist, because he doesn’t want her to surf again and risk another concussion! In the light of what is known about multiple concussions and their effects, I think she is dopey! But then I guess some athletes are.
An angsty Christmas romance.
Krystal has one goal on her mind and that is to win the World Surf League championship so she can add on an in-law suite to her bungalow for her dad. She’s been through too much not to succeed and she promised her dad they would be together for Christmas this year. But when she gets seriously hurt avoiding another surfer during her wave, that promise goes down the tubes as should her competing in the finales. Even after meeting Adolfo and him helping to take care of her, she can’t admit the truth that she shouldn’t be surfing anymore. But maybe love can change her mind?

A well written story with a very good storyline, a story that kept me turning pages. World-class surfer Krystal Walters and olive farmer Adolfo Silva are two strong willed people that are going to learn how to give a little if they are going to get a happy ending. I will be reading this book again.

After reading a couple romances that I did not care for from other authors, I gratefully dived into Josie’s latest knowing that she never disappoints me. I was pleasantly surprised to have a surfing and olive farm setting. I do not know much about either, nor the Portuguese culture, so it was thrilling to learn about all of these things – I especially liked the Portuguese words woven in. This was a sweet, clean, enticing Christmas story with a few twists and turns. It was perfect.

A Portuguese Christmas
Loved the setting in Portugal. Very descriptive and lots of interesting information about Portuguese Christmas customs. Good conflict between Krystal, who needs to recognize how her guilt has controlled her life choices, and Adolfo, who needs to learn to let go of some control and enjoy life.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Josie Riviera writes a beautiful Christmas story set in Portugal describing the beautiful scenery and the Christmas traditions. Krystal suffers from a severe concussion while surfing and is taken care of by Adolfo, her sister’s brother in law who is an olive farmer.
I enjoyed learning about olive farming and about the local Portuguese Christmas traditions that are in this story.
Book my Christmas flight to Portugal!
Krystal Walters is a world-class women’s surfer. The competition in Portugal has left her with a serious concussion and the doctor has cautioned her that her brain shows evidence of multiple concussions. If Krystal heeds his warning, it could take her out of Surfing competitions for the rest of her life. She loves surfing and needs the money to pay for travel to other surfing competitions. The doctor says she cannot travel for six weeks which will mean missing Christmas with her father back in the States.
Adolfo Silva is a Portuguese olive farmer and the brother-in-law of Krystal’s cousin. He is still recovering from his father’s death. His olive keeps him very busy. Too busy to have time for women, but he finds himself drawn to the delicate American surfer staying in his farms’ guesthouse while she recovers.
Krystal’s husband died in a surfing accident and she will not risk heartbreak again. Adolfo’s kindness and masculinity are hard to resist but his stubborn insistence that she gives up surfing threaten their future together.
This is another beautiful Christmas romance by Josie Riviera. The richly descriptive writing makes me want to book a flight to Portugal for Christmas. I couldn’t put it down and finished it in one day.
I thoroughly enjoyed A Portuguese Christmas! Reading of Portuguese Christmas customs was wonderful. The relationship between Krystal and Adolfo developed quickly, but was fiery and passionate in a very sweet way. The family relationships were well developed, and forgiveness of others as well as self was woven throughout
This is a contempory story that is so wonderful to read. The holidays, surfing in the Atlantic off Portugal’s coast and a very handsome Portuguese man and the woman surfer who goes head to head with this guy even if she is injured and he ends up taking care of her.
Awesome conflict and wonderful characters and I really enjoyed this story very much.
I received this and two other books as a set as ARC’s and no promises of reviews but I loved it and wanted to review this one.
This is a wonderful holiday romance. I think I would like to spend a Christmas in Portugal! Once I started reading, I could not put the book down. The characters are well developed. The story keeps you reading. There are lessons in family, letting go, overcoming grief, growing olives and Portuguese holiday traditions. I really enjoyed being transported to Portugal – especially at Christmas!
