After growing up as an orphan, Josiah English wants nothing more than to have his own ranch and raise Arabian horses. Riding for the Pony Express seems like the ticket to his dream. And when he meets the stationmaster’s beautiful sister, it seems he may be within reach of the happy life he craves.Mara Reid is thrilled to finally meet the man of her dreams, and the fact that they both want to … want to raise horses in the Sweetwater River valley seems like confirmation straight from God.
But when the Express shuts down and Mara’s family home is in peril, the danger looming over Mara’s life may not be half as destructive as that threatening her heart.

I enjoyed this book very much. I would give it 4 1/2 stars. It was a little slow in places, but very enjoyable. The characters were very believable.
Great read with a glimpse into the pony express and the hardships young men met
I love this book and recommend it to other Historical Christian Romance Book readers like me!!
Well-written story that remembers the “history” in “historical fiction”. While you’re enjoying the trials, tribulations, failures, and triumphs of the characters, you also learn something of the very real Pony Express.
This was such a good book, I had a hard time putting you it down.
Enjoyable read with interesting facts about the Pony Express. Mara and her brothers raise horses and run a Pony Express and Stagecoach station. Josiah comez to their station as an inexperienced Pony Express rider. He and Mara fall in love but there are many obstacles in their lives. I enjoyed the twists and turns if the story along with learning about the Pony Express. Some things happened a bit too conveniently but the overall story was good enough to overlook them.
An enjoyable read. Love it!
Misty Beller has never disappointed! A Pony Express Romance is an interesting story of a Pony Express rider, Josiah English, who dreams of having his own horse ranch and of Mara Reid, who helps her brothers run a Pony Express station after the death of their father. Mara and Josiah are both excellent protagonists. You will enjoy reading about Mara’s lack of cooking skills and admire Josiah’s kindness since he has previously worked as a chef! I recommend A Pony Express Romance to anyone who is intrigued by the Pony Express. I received a complimentary e-book from the author. This is my honest opinion.
A love story that takes place at a pony express station back in the mid 1800’s. Indians were very active then and it could be many miles between any other people.
Mara and her brothers ran the station that was a part of the pony express as well as a stopping point for the stage coach line.
Josiah was hired to ride for the pony express and was stationed at the Pine Ridge station. He was green to the long, hard rides that he took over. With Mara’s help with tips on how to handle the horse, he was able to ride the hours at a time. But what really kept him going, was his love for Mara.
When the pony express is shut down, Josiah leaves to find a way to earn enough money to buy his own land and build his own home.
Will he and Mara find a way back to each other? A lovely story
This is a beautifully written story. It portrays the hardships people faced during that era. It tells the story of the deep love that Josiah and Mara has for each other. It survives through separation and hurt. They both trust in their faith in the Lord. It sees them through to a happy ending.
I liked this story very much. Ms. Beller is very good at writing a romance with a little suspense.
Loved it!
Christian Historical Romance
Such a delightfully unique book! I especially loved how they grew in their relationship with God! “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
The narrator was great but there’s a humming sound through most of the recording.
What a great story! The authors notes made it more special. I saw the whole series is available and plan to get it on KU. It’s a western adventure at its best.
Josiah English wants to raise Arabian horses. Riding for the Pony Express can help him get his dream. Then he meets the stationmaster’s sister, Mara Reid.
I was drawn into the story from the first scene. It was like reading a Louis L’Amour story.
Detailed descriptions gave me the experiences of the Express. Bone-jarring rides on crazy horses over icy hills. The dangers of the job were ever present, and the characters suffered as a result.
Sometimes I held my breath as anticipation mounted, then the reveal. Then tears. Twists I hadn’t seen coming made this book very interesting.
I found myself glued to the pages, wanting every word. Beller is a gifted author, one who weaves an exciting plot. It’s a book I’ll long remember.
I’m hooked on this series and look forward to the next one.
I love historical fiction/romance books & this was a great one! She really researched to have true facts and the way she wound a great romance with it was so good. I have my computer read is to me & could not shut it off until it was done. The unexpected turns throughout the book really kept you wondering how things were going to turn out. This was the first one of her books I read & I can’t wait to read another!!
Another great book by Misty Beller. Her characters are always warm and make you feel like someone you know. She makes the hard times seem like you are there. When caught in the snow you will feel like you are there in the cold, bitting wind and swirling snow. Highly recommend this author and I bought this book and all opinions are my own.
I couldn’t wait for the end. Enjoyed it.
Book would not open. Only a statement that the book had errors.
The characters were very real, informative about the pony express writers, seems they had a hard life.
