A full-length STANDALONE romantic comedy from USA TODAY bestselling author R.S. Grey. When her mother’s incessant matchmaking hits an all-time high, Georgie Archibald does what any sensible woman would do: she flees the country.Seeking refuge in the picturesque seaside village of Vernazza, Italy, Georgie’s only plan is to lie low, gorge herself on gelato, and let the wine and waves wash her … waves wash her troubles away…that is until she wakes up in a bed that belongs to the most romantic-looking man she’s ever seen.
Gianluca.
After going out of his way to rescue her, the former London financier turned mysterious recluse makes it clear that despite acting as her white knight, he has no plans to co-star in her fairytale.
But Georgie isn’t asking for his heart—she’s merely intrigued.
After all, Gianluca isn’t just gorgeous—tall and tan from days spent in the sun—his touch sets her world on fire. With him, Georgie experiences the most intoxicating passion she’s ever known, and it only takes a few steamy nights for her to realize that sometimes running away from trouble is the best way to find it.

I have been a fan of this authors for a while now, and I had thought I’d read all her books but recently discovered this one was unread, which I quickly fixed.
Georgie flees London due to her mother’s meddling and heads to a place she pointed to on the world map – Vernazza Italy. Straight away I had to look up what this village was like, as it was described so vividly and it looked as gorgeous as it sounded. Georgie makes a grand entrance to the market place and needs assistance from Gianluca and his cousin. Georgie is smitten but realizes nothing will come of it, as even after five years, Gianluca is still morning his late wife. They do form a friendship and set about restoring his grandmother’s B&B which Georgie hopes to manage and stay in Vernazza for a while.
I was a little worried when I first started reading that I wasn’t going to enjoy this one, I felt Georgie was too pushy and stubborn. Then once I settled in, I understood her motive of helping Gianluca out of his comfort zone so he could live his life again. And if she could spend a little time in his company, then a bonus for her. Gianluca slowly thawed towards Georgie, but would never go all the way as his heart was still with Allie. But it takes a strong and brave man to see that he was young enough to be able to love two woman in his life time, while not being unfaithful to his late wife and fully commit to his new relationship. This book has a slow burn feel to it and I loved watching them fall for each other, even with the past issues. They had good banter and there is humor throughout with the secondary characters as well. Well worth the read.
You know those books which are so perfect that when you read them all you want in that moment is to have some sort of magical power to somehow be sucked in to that world completely. That was A Place In The Sun for me. It gave me a vacation to the beaches of Vernazza when I was sitting right at home. Let me be clear, this is not the first time I’ve read the book. Let me be clear enough — it’s not enough to read this book just once.
What I loved:
Georgie & Luca. Georgie & Luca. Georgie & Luca. MAN, I need the both of them in my life. Georgie was a perfect character — free spirited, fearless & funny. While Luca was her perfect balance — brooding, brave & beautiful.
I especially loved how Georgie never backed down from a challenge when she puts her heart into it.
The humour was absolutely amazing and just what I needed.
Lastly— no one realises this, but the setting of a story really matters and the fact that this author chose the small but picturesque town of Vernazza, Italy was the best decision. Because just the descriptions made me want to be there.
There was absolutely nothing more I needed from this book.
It had just the right amount of drama, angst, humour, passion & romance. This is one of the many great books the author has written! I can’t wait to read her newest release Cold Hearted Boss!
This book will make you want to quit our job and run away to Italy! But instead you’ll be a responsible adult and get lost in an awesome book about loving after losing.
I enjoyed this one a lot. The narrators took a little getting used to, but I’d recommend the audiobook. I’m giving it 4.5 out of 5 stars.
I liked Georgie’s character a lot. I felt like we could have maybe been friends if she was real. And Gianluca was a hunk, and seemed like an amazing guy. He’s going on my book boyfriend list.
This book didn’t surprise me much, especially something that I think was supposed to be a plot twist. Never the less, I enjoyed it a ton. The mental picture the author painted of Italy was breathtaking. I’m jealous because I want to travel so bad!
Lots of the other characters were great too. This book wasn’t super happy go lucky; some of the characters had gone through/were still going through some hard times. I won’t say more on that, but just be prepared for some feels. I can’t wait to read another one of her books!
What a wonderful story about love and loss and finding it again! In a recent Instagram story post, Ms. Grey say that Gianluca and Georgie were her favorite couple that she had written so far and that made me want to read this book immediately. And I can definitely see why they hold a special place for her!
In the six or so books of hers I’ve read, Ms. Grey’s characters all have ex girlfriends and ex boyfriends, some have ex wives and ex husbands. But this is the first time I’ve read her write about a widower. When I found out, I was very excited. It was a whole new dynamic from this author and I was super excited to see what was in store!
Georgie was the perfect match for Gianluca. She, as well as everyone else, could see that he was living in a state of constant mourning. But she was unwilling to let him get away with living a half life. The way their relationship unfolded and their love grew was a beautiful thing to read.
And the setting of Vernazza, Italy was beautiful! The descriptions were amazing. I felt like I was there. I really hope I make it to Italy one day!
The hero and heroine start sleeping together about halfway through the book. This is fairly early for an R.S. Grey book, but I’m not complaining! There’s 5-6 sex scenes of various types (hand jobs, oral and the regular way), all very detailed but all very different (one of my biggest complaints is when authors write multiple sex scenes and they’re all the same). There’s two, maybe three uses of the f- word in the whole book, and only a couple uses of other curse words (in English and Italian).
I highly recommend this book!!!!
I loved this book! I’ve only read three of Grey’s books prior to this one and they were a few of her earliest. While I enjoyed them, this book was far superior in style, wit, and character development. It really magnifies the improvement of her writing. The story reads more like women’s fiction with romantic emphasis, which I absolutely love and find myself enjoying much more than straight romance these days. This is labeled as a romantic comedy, but thankfully the humor is witty and subtle rather than slapstick. Much more my style. I’ve been slogging through some so-so reads and this book perked me right up. I didn’t want to put it down. As for the H/h, I loved them both. I’m hard to please when it comes to the main heroines of a story, and Georgie was one of the best. I also spent some time listening to the audio and the narrator’s did a fabulous job. I loved the accents and they made the characters come alive. Overall, a fun and heartfelt story. The best I’ve read by this author.
Such a sweet and romantic story, it was also very descriptive. It was like you were right there in the little villages. Georgie was great! I enjoyed her more than I did Luca. My one and only thing that I had with the story was, there is a lot of inner monologue. For me personally, I’m a dialogue whore. I just find that it keeps me focused and not skimming because of on going paragraphs of “innerness”. But besides my little quirk, it was a great story.
I really enjoyed A Place in the Sun. It had a different feel than Settling the Score but is just as sweet and sexy and well written. I love Georgie and Gianluca together. And especially I love Georgie. She’s as sweet and fun as she was in Settling the Score, but away from Freddie she is allowed to shine. Gianluca was a little harder for me to connect to at first, but once he dug his way under my skin I couldn’t help but love him.
Georgie has decided she’s had enough of her mother’s endless matchmaking so she heads off to Italy on her own. It’s there she meets the mysterious, brooding, sexy Luca. It isn’t exactly love at first sight, though, as he’s barely communicative with her when she meets him. But, in time, they enter into a relationship. Georgie ends up falling for him, but the man has a steel cage around his heart and isn’t willing to let the ghosts of his past go enough to give his heart to Georgie. Thank God he finally realized the amazing woman he had right in front of his face and let himself love Georgie! Not without some angst at first, but finally he let himself love.
It isn’t just Georgie and Gianluca that have my heart, though. Massimo and Katarina are amazing, too! I love Georgie’s friendship with her and Massimo’s with Gianluca. One thing about RS Grey is that she always populates her stories with a complete cast of amazing characters. It isn’t just the hero and heroine that are lovely, the whole cast here is.
