For the past year, talented chef Millie has been consumed with running her new catering business with her sisters, Dru and Tasha. It isn’t until Jackson walks through their door that she realizes something may be missing in the recipe of her life. For the past year, Jackson has been dealing with the fallout of his wife’s abandonment. He’s had to learn how to be a single father to their … their eight-year-old daughter, and will do anything to fill the void her mother left. It isn’t until he commissions Millie for his daughter’s birthday party that he realizes he’s forgotten that he’s not only a father, but a man.
They both think they’re content in their lives, but sometimes the right amount of spice can turn an okay dish into a magnificent one. A Pinch of Salt may be all that’s needed to bring Millie and Jackson the flavor they’ve been missing.

A Pinch of Salt was a wonderful romance. The characters were funny and endearing. The subject of divorce and abandonment are realistic and relevant. I can’t wait to read the succeeding book.
Fun read!!!
A PINCH OF SALT is a standalone read with a HEA. It is a bit steamy. Three sisters own a catering business. Each sister has her own field of expertise and this story is about the oldest, a chef. She does all the cooking and meal planning so she spends her time in the kitchen.
All the sisters are hard workers but each is lacking in the romance department. They have been so busy getting their company established that they have not taken the time to even date very much. All that is about to change. A dad comes in and is desperately needing their help giving his 9 year old daughter a tea party birthday. Instantly attracted but noticing the ring on his left hand she decides to just help him but keep her distance.
There is a bit of drama where the ex-wife is concerned and the trauma the daughter is experiencing with the missing mother. It is an entertaining read and I really enjoyed it. It is the start of a series as the other two sisters will get their own story. I would definitely recommend it for an easy read.
I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 9/7/18
Excellently written. Looking forward to reading some more of this author’s work. Because she wrote this book with such feeling and knowledge of the storyline. Good read!!
Sometimes I just need a quick easy read that isn’t too complicated. Sometimes I just need a story that doesn’t have me skipping all the sex pages (I am so tired of filler sex). Sometimes I need a little family drama that is real. Sometimes I need a book that gives me a HEA that leaves me smiling.
Sometimes I need a book with a pinch of child drama, a pinch of disappointment, a pinch of family. A Pinch of Salt has just enough seasoning and life to put it over the top. Today was sometime and A Pinch of Salt was just what this reader needed.
Food and romance, and three sisters, what’s not to like.
A sweet romance easy read! Loved the way the book was written and how it flowed even though different characters are narrating. Can’t wait for more from this series.
Three Sisters Catering series are going to be a hit! I loved Pinch of Salt. This book brings you laughter, tears, and some yummy sexy times all wrapped in one delicious recipe! Millie and her sisters are adorable and feisty. You never want to get on their bad side. Millie is the cook behind the scenes of the sisters catering business. Then one day a hot dimpled man with glasses came into Millie’s life and changed it before she knew what hit her.
Jackson has an adorable little girl and is a great dad. He is also a great teacher and is an expert in the poems and literature department. The sparks that ignite with Jackson and Millie are amazing! The chemistry just overflowed with these two and I could literally feel the butterflies when these two would meet up. I loved that Jackson was just as nervous as Millie when they would hang out. There was drama and baggage that Jackson had to work out. Would it destroy what he and Millie have before it truly starts? Will Millie be scared off by a young girl who has conflicting emotions and attitude because her dad is dating again?
The sexy scenes with Jackson and Millie were steamy and romantic at the same time! There was a little bit of side drama with one of Millie’s sisters that will unfold in the next book. I can not wait!
Millie is completely engrossed in expanding the catering business with her two sisters. She isn’t normally the one of the three who plans the events. Until the day the handsome man comes in begging for someone to cater his daughter’s birthday party.
Jackson is at a crossroads in his life. He has had to adjust to being a single dad since his wife just left him and his daughter. But things change the day he meets the person he’s asked to cater the birthday party.
They slowly start spending time with each other, but soon it becomes serious. But dealing with his daughter and her feelings regarding her dad being with anyone besides her mom. Her attitude causes Millie to step back from Jackson to protect her heart.
But romantic books, an apology, and a trip to Graceland changes everyone’s lives forever.
This is a fun rom-con and yet again Bethany Lopez has grabbed the reader’s attention. I look forward to reading the stories of her sisters.
This first book of the Three Sisters Catering series is phenomenal!!
Millie is one of the co-owners of Three Sisters. Jackson is a single father who stumbles into Three Sisters when he’s in a jam for his daughter’s birthday party. From the second they meet, the sparks flew. There’s obstacles and reluctance but is the connection strong enough to overcome those?
I loved every second of this book. One of my favorite things about it is that it shows the realities of single parenting and how a significant other has to deal with that. I was connected to the characters, I laughed, I cried, and pretty much everything in between. I can’t wait to see what’s next for this series!!
Bethany Lopez sweetened the pot. A Pinch of Salt, should be renamed A Dash of Sugar. Not only does she serve up some spicy romance, she gives readers a taste of a father’s love. Written between the lines is a tablespoon of sage advice and all of this is delivered with a teaspoon of love. Caring can be as simple as lending a kind ear or helping out a friend or taking a chance by risking it all and opening up one’s heart again. Reasonable advice hidden in a tasty little package.
Didnt like the language. Was not needed.
Millie and Jackson are crazy for each other with Jackson’s daughter thrown into the mix which creates an unpredictable sequence of events. Add Elvis and you get a happy ever after!
OK – slow build up
A sweet fun read. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The characters are people you can relate to and like.
Slow. Very hard to get into
A pinch of salt…a dash of that…We all know we have our own special preferences when it comes to ingredients…whether it be in food or our romantic tales. A little more heads up here is Jackson, the hero, and his nine year old daughter were abandoned by his wife a year ago. So, yeah, he’s been living in limbo not sure what to do about divorcing her because #1 He doesn’t know where she is #2 The hurt it will stir up/unleash upon their child. He does know his marriage is now on paper only, and he would never take her back. Divorce is inevitable. She’s the only woman he’s been intimate with and has been celibate since her without warning departure. He’s a good guy caught up in a bad, not sure how to handle it situation.
Millie is as awe struck with Jackson at first sight, as he is with her. They are like two missing pieces you come across while trying to complete an intricate puzzle. They just instantly click and feel right together. It was sweet how they slowly, casually started dating in order to get to know one another before the few graphic smexy time spent near the end.
Yeah, this quick read may have been mostly predictable, but I still enjoyed it. Mainly because I do like this author’s writing style. The groveling at the end had me raising my eyebrow a little. It was cute and sweet, but I’m not sure that particular audience was appropriate or the location itself overly feasible.
The next book will feature Tasha and a past college love interest she immaturely walked away from, who conveniently isn’t in her past anymore. I’m a little hesitant to put up with/accept such a knucklehead decision all those years ago. For me, there’s quite a difference between miscommunication and no communication when pulling up stakes and leaving a supposed love behind without explaining oneself. We’ll see. Since it currently is on Kindle Unlimited, I’ll likely give in to curiosity and give it a try.
Book three seems to have a desperate, last sister standing set-up with Dru drooling over a friend of a family member private investigator as her love interest. Again, we’ll see. If nothing else, I’ll blame this author’s addictive writing style as making me read it.
Title: A Pinch of Salt, Series: Three Sisters Catering (Book 1), Author: Bethany Lopez, Pages: 226, stand-alone but part of a series, chef heroine, high school English teacher hero, has a 9 year old child, no love triangle, no OM drama, technically still married but wife left a year earlier/wants a divorce, only a few very steamy scenes, relationship angst, instant attraction.
Book 1 – A Pinch of Salt
Book 2 – A Touch of Cinnamon
Book 3 – A Splash of Vanilla
(I voluntarily read and reviewed a Kindle Unlimited version of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I was not given any payment or compensation for this review. There is no relationship or affiliation between this reviewer and the author, publisher, or PR firm.)
This was a quick read. It’s a sweet story with minimal drama and interesting secondary characters. A bit too insta love for me but once they connect on an emotional level all is good with a little bit of heat.
It was a good book that I enjoyed a lot.
Typical HEA Romance
