Some are born with a perfect palate, others with perfect pitch. Lily Sparks was born with a perfect eye. As Conservator of Paintings at the Denver Art Museum, she uses her keen visual powers to restore masterpieces and detect what’s authentic and what is not. When the museum’s billionaire benefactor is brutally murdered and Lily is dragged into the case, the grisly tableau stuns her: it’s the … human embodiment of the museum’s prized landscape by famed Impressionist Gustave Caillebotte.
Lily comes to believe the Caillebotte was forged and the killer is a painter the art world spurned. But this knowledge comes at a terrible cost. As she confronts where art ends and fraud begins, she must face the deceptions in her own past.

This one kept me guessing until the end! A great read
I loved the art references in this book! I definitely could picture the painting details that were mentioned. The details were explicit and easy to follow along.
I would have given it a 5 but to much discription I did enjoy the story itself and would read more of her books
Just ok, unless you are an art major, it becomes boring.
Found the last few chapters the best in the book.
Lily is a conservator of paintings at the Denver Art Museum. She used to be a lawyer. After years of schooling she is finally where she wants to be doing what she should be doing. She is known for an ability to observe things just a tad better than the rest of the world. Her father taught her this skill as she grew up. The plot is an art world murder mystery which also involves an old flame from the FBI. The book is well written and keeps your interest while also involving you in the world of art and art restoration. The author effortlessly immerses you in the technicalities of restoration. It was very interesting information. Ending had a good twist with good action. I’d gladly read more of Stephanie Kane’s books.
I didn’t think that this would be the kind of story for me. It turned out to be interesting and had some unexpected twists that added to the suspense. It was worth the time to read.
An exciting read with more than a few twists and turns.
Having a perfect eye is the main characters blessing and curse. Her father taught her everything, but didn’t tell her the truth about her past. She can find a forged painting but can she get the proof? Can she save the people she loves and loved? Can she save herself?
Good read! Thought I figured out who-did-it and was surprised when it turned out to be another. Interesting learning about art techniques, they were seamlessly Integrated and moved the plot along.
It started well, but then got so bogged down on the details, I wanted to yell, “MOVE IT ALONG!!!” Some interesting insights into the art world but not enough for me to rate it more than “okay”
The perspectives generated from art were a refreshing change from other suspense novels, and this was an enjoyable read for that reason.
Overall a very good book. However, at times it meandered and was confusing. Still worth reading
Thought provoking read, hard to put down!
Interesting content and good plot
Good read. Interesting plot and characters.
loved it!
Couldn’t put it down.
Nice easy read, with interesting information about the art world.
Slow starter for most of us, with convoluted structure & challenging vocabulary vis a vis art-world, but quickly evolves into delightful detective yarn — with ample learning opportunities. Well-done!
Intricate plot
