After her fiance’s tragic death, Terri Clark has spent two years in mourning. She moves to Shepherdsville hoping to start over, but she’s finding it impossible to forget that last, horrible night. Now, her hope of a fresh start begins to crumble when restoring the town’s ballpark forces her to work with the ruggedly handsome Sam Bradley. The last thing she wants is to work side by side with … someone as cold and uncaring as Sam. He isn’t quite the man she thought he was, though. Can she bring herself to risk her heart again?
A single dad, Sam takes fatherhood seriously. He’s determined to restore Shepherdsville’s ballpark to its former glory to make up for the turmoil in his young son’s life. I love her books! I appreciate the fact that they are clean and the stories are wonderful. In this book, I was hooked from the first page. The dynamics between Sam and Terri felt real. The other characters also had things going on and the author was able to go back and forth in the book between characters and keep the story lines flowing. She creates the conversations and thoughts of her characters that relate to true life situations. I really hate to say too much because I don’t want to give anything away. The author threw in a few surprises too which caught me off guard and added to the suspense. A great read! Hopefully there will be another book so I can see what happens next!

A Perfect Catch is the story of two people gravely wounded by former relationships. When Terri and Sam are forced to work together to restore the old ball field, they find their animosity changing to attraction. I very much enjoyed watching their relationship blossom.
A Perfect Catch by Shawna Lynn Brooks. Terri Clark has been saving up for an European trip to try to find peace after her fiancé died in a car accident two years ago. She is living in Shepherdsville hoping to start over but can’t forget the night he died nor the fight when he left. She found out he was having an affair which he denied but in which was worse, his betrayal or her feeling she hadn’t been enough for him. Sam Bradley is fighting a custody battle with his ex-wife after she kidnapped their son and is now living with a known felon Allen. When his ex comes back to town to try to make things work, Terri questions if she once again isn’t enough for Sam. A great story.
Terri is still adjusting to her new life in Shepardsville after the tragic death of her fiancé 2 years ago. She has not resolved the guilt she feels for his death. She feels a responsibility and hopes that she can afford a trip to Italy to help bring closure for her.
Sam has gone through a traumatic divorce. He has sole custody of his son but still has some legal battles to fight to make the decree permanent.
The last thing both of them need is a complication. For Terri, it would mean moving on with her life without her fiancé. For Sam, it would mean trusting someone who was friends with his ex-wife. Neither is willing to take that step yet fate brings them together on a project and emotions become entangled.
How will Terri and Sam resolve their hidden feelings? If they are outright with them, they risk losing their hearts. Other relationships that look glossy on the outside also have inner rumblings of discord. However, when you’re immersed in your own issues, seeing others is clouded.
In the midst of it all, the ex-wife returns wanting to take back what she feels is hers – both Sam and their son. Both Sam and Terri are willing to take the first steps but are confronted by their pasts. Before they can resolve anything, they must consider the child who wants his parents to be together. Is there too much pain and history for Sam to go back? Will Terri run away to Europe to seek closure?
This is an interwoven story that shows the struggles are real.
