Miss Ellen Brooks is surprised when her father arranges a marriage to Viscount Stafford without giving her any choice in the matter. But she is a dutiful daughter who obeys her father’s wishes and plans to make the best of the match. To her great surprise, Viscount Stafford is not an old man as she feared. Aside from a scar, she is very pleased with him and it seems he feels the same. But suddenly Lord Stafford decides that there is no need for the arrangement to continue and publicly breaks their engagement! Ellen is determined to find out why!
Viscount Leonard Stafford had been pleased to have Ellen as his betrothed and things were running smoothly. When a former acquaintance from his past, Lady Moore, shows up, she threatens to blackmail him by revealing things he didn’t want made public. He wants to protect Ellen, and the best way to do that is to break off the engagement, even though he now realizes that he really does care for her.
Will Ellen and Lady Newfield be able to set things right when they discover what is going on? Will Leonard be able to gain Ellen’s forgiveness if he can get another chance to make things right with her?
Leonard, Lord Stamford bears a scar on his face and as a result is shunned by many members of the ton and didn’t think he could find a lady who would willingly wed him until Miss Ellen Brooks’ father approaches him with a betrothal agreement. Ellen is relieved to not be marrying an old man and is not upset about Leonard’s looks, but an ex starts blackmailing him and he is forced to break their agreement to protect her. This clean Regency had intrigue, suspense, and sweet romance. I liked Leonard’s friend Lord Repington, who cannot decide on one lady to court and I’m looking forward to his story in a future book.
Lady Ellen Brooks had no choice when her father negotiated her marriage to Lord Leonard Stafford. She was delighted to find he was a young man and did not oppose her engagement any longer. Unfortunately a woman from Leonard’s past came back to haunt him reminding him of his promise to marry her many years ago. She was now a widow and needed someone to take care of her and that was Leonard. As she blackmailed him he broke his engagement to Ellen. Ellen, along with Lady Newfield and his friend Lord Repington came up with a plan to extricate Leonard from the clutches of Lady Moore. Can they find the truth and free him allowing him to marry Ellen?
Loved the fact that Lord Stanton, disfigured as he was had an arranged marriage. Lady Ellen didn’t see a disfigurement she just saw the man. When a Lady from his past showed up and started blackmailing Lord Stanton he breaks the engagement. She helps him break the blackmailing so he is not afraid of his past.

Great Way to Relax and Get Away with This Entertaining Regency Read!
This is another winning novel by Rose Pearson. A Past to forget is book 5 of the Convenient Arrangements series. Every one of these books is a delightful, fun, and fast read. This book, like the others, is a clean and sweet Regency romance with very likable characters (except for the bad guys of course). Sometimes it takes me awhile to get “into” a new book but this book captures the reader from the first few words. In this story, an arranged marriage is made between a girl who is told she is “plain” and a troubled gentleman. Unlike many novels of arranged marriages, the two hit it off from the start and are very happy with the match. But instead of a easy road to wedded bliss, there are obstacles from the past to block the happy couple. I totally recommend this sweet and entertaining novel.
I really enjoyed this book. Rose Pearson is the queen of the Regency Era! The story of Miss Ellen Brooks and Lord Stafford is brought to life and you feel as though you are right there with them! Ms. Pearson really captured and made us feel the strong varied emotions of these characters! It was a really good original plot. I loved the evil and conniving Lady Moore. I really enjoyed this book and this series! I always love a HEA! I highly recommend this book and this series!

Oh I enjoyed this book so much. So much suspense, drama, and intrigue. Ellen is a strong amazing woman who will do what is necessary for those she loves. I couldn’t put it down, I wanted to see how Leonard got beyond his past.

Truth is the real power.
Every one has a past, but not everyone has a secret that a blackmailer can use. Sadly, Lord Stafford has just such a past, and it may cost him Miss Brooks’ respect and affections.
As novellas go, A Past to Forget by Rose Pearson is a quick and easy read without a ton of angst, and with a happy ending. Miss Brooks is a strong heroine, but Lord Stafford needed to be a bit more sure of himself. The development of both characters is very good, which makes it easy to understand their motivations. The story was easy to follow to the point of predictability. Overall I enjoyed this novella, I did hope for a more satisfying ending.
Content 411: This is a squeaky clean read that’s suitable for any age reader.

Ms. Pearson has done it again! Another delightful story filled with intrigue, mystery, and romance, I found myself immersed in the book until the very end.
She does an amazing job of creating intrigue, suspense, and mystery woven with a good dose of romance, that you cannot help but become engrossed in the story. I particularly enjoy how she brings you right into the story by providing such vivid details about the scenes taking place. I feel as if I am right there experiencing it for myself. I am always in awe of how she can write the love story with such passion, but at the same time keeping it sweet and clean. Leonard and Ellen become engaged, but due to a secret from his past, Leonard breaks off the engagement. Ellen is hurt and embarrassed, and she doesn’t know that Leonard really cares for her and the reason for his betrayal. Will she forgive him when she finds out the truth and take him back? You should definitely pick this book up and find out. Another great addition to a wonderful series! Well done, Ms. Pearson!

I am sorry that this is the last book in the series but I know that Rose Pearson will go on to something new and exciting, I can not wait! I highly recommend reading this book and the whole series! Ellen and Leonard were brought together in a match instigated by her father, who thought that his plain, outspoken daughter might not find a match on her own. Having a large scar on his face, Leonard often received looks of disgust from ladies of the ton and was most pleased when his potential betrothed accepted him without question. They were both pleased with one another and a betrothal began. Their relationship blossomed until a face from his past shows up to blackmail him and suddenly all was lost. I was disappointed in the hero as a hero he wasn’t , and more of a spineless wimp. She was much stronger of the two, and the one to take charge

Two like souls
Ellen’s tale starts with her and her mother on the way to soiree when some rather disturbing news is revealed. Leonard is meeting with Ellen’s father Lord Coulbourn and Leonard has agreed to meet Ellen the next day to see if she would do. They are content with the match that is until a monkey wrench was thrown in the mix. It was a very enjoyable read about two people who others saw one way but they saw each other in a different way. I loved the villain and how it ended for them. It was a book I am happy to recommend. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Miss Ellen Brooks is disappointed to learn that her father has arranged a marriage for her to Viscount Leonard Stafford. Ellen is somewhat on the stubborn side and Leonard is not considered a catch because of a terrible scar on his face. Ellen is relieved he is not her father’s age! She is attracted to his personality. However, he is hiding a terrible deed from his past! Will it separate them forever? A fantastic story you won’t be able to put down!

This book covers a variety of different subjects all in one. Of course, there is romance. There is also blackmail, low self-esteem, illness, strong women and problem solving. I enjoyed how the characters came together. Including a friend of Miss Brooke’s mother! A great book that you can’t put down from the first page to the last!

Rose Pearson has created two very different characters. Lord Stafford is a spineless wimp who cannot stand up to any one. Miss Ellen is the total opposite. She has spunk snd determination especially when she wants something. When Lord Stafford breaks off the engagement, Ellen is determined to find out why. What she found out surprised everyone.

Lady Ellen’s father has arranged a marriage for her to Viscount Stafford which she dreads until she meets him and realizes that they are suited. As soon as their engagement is announced Stafford changes his mind and tells her he can not marry her which happens just when he father is stricken down with a illness and is slow to recover. She is outspoken and with the help of a friend decides to find out why he has broken their engagement. Lady Moore has some damaging evidence on Stafford and now she wants him to marry her or at least support her. Suspense with romance.
Another great Regency book by Rose Pearson. I loved Lord Stafford and Miss Brooks story. Miss Brooks is just the person to help Lord Stafford overcome his past. The book captivated me from the beginning.
Allow a full morning for this family-friendly Regency arranged romance between Miss Ellen Brooks and Lord Leonard Stafford, thrown into disarray by Lady Moore.

Melodrama
I’m not sure where to begin. While I didn’t hate this book I didn’t particularly like it either. Thank goodness for supporting characters. If it weren’t for Lord Ripington and Lady Newfield who knows what would’ve become of Lord Stafford and Miss Brooks. One of the things that bothered me the most in the book was the crying off of the engagement. I understand why it played out the way it did in the book. I couldn’t get past that during that time Miss Brooks would have been completely ruined, ridiculed and shunned by the ton. And then there’s the villainess Lady Moore, she was the perfect caricature of a greedy shrew. This is my opinion with that being said I do recommend you read A Past to Forget and form your own opinion.
