“Mrs. Pollifax gives Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple a rival to reckon with.”—Toronto Star“What we are looking for—aside from the stolen Plutonium, Mrs. Pollifax—is evil in its purest form.” Mrs. Pollifax was leading a very full life: Garden Club, karate, yoga—and a little spying now and then. This time the mysterious Mr. Carstairs sent her to Switzerland—to a famous health resort where the world’s … Switzerland—to a famous health resort where the world’s intelligence agents had gathered.
The mission: to track down a missing package of plutonium. Just enough to make a small atom bomb.
It was a job that suited Mrs. Pollifax’s talents. She was good with people—and good at sniffing out their secrets.
But it was not until she became enchanted with Robin, the young jewel thief, that her new adventure really began. . . .

Mrs. Pollifax does it again in her own charming style. I love this series!
All the Mrs P books are good, this one is especially good.
Fun, light spy-murder mystery w/elderly female protagonist, who keeps geraniums and exercises daily.
Truly fun! Mrs Poillifax is a great character and I love her books! I just wish all of them were available as nook books but they stop after 6 (I think) and then go to number 11. Whay aren’t the rest available?
It was fun to read and the characters we’re interesting. Mrs. Pollifax is a bit reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple. She’s smart and resourceful as well as intuitive.
I love Mrs. Pollifax.
I LOVE this series. I have read and re-read it many times over the years. Having been written over 30 years ago, does nothing to diminish the story, the relevance, the people; as a matter of fact, it shows very clearly how history repeats itself. I read this when I was younger and loved the series. And I’ve re-read the entire series several times since, it is ageless and timeless. I have grown fonder and more understanding of Mrs Polifax as I’ve gotten older, though. She’s lovable and relatable. There are many younger characters she deals with, teams up with, mentors and learns from throughout this series. Every character is so 3-dimensional, they become old friends, people you remember fondly and miss when the series ends. (Hence the re-reading every couple years or so.) I’ve never grown bored or thought that I remember the plot too well to read so often. The plots are so well thought out, so relevant to the time (as well as today) and so complex that you get pulled in to them again and again.
I feel that, though I may look back on my life that wasn’t full of the adventure and excitement that Mrs Polifax so desired, I will be content in having lived vicariously through her.
Long live Mrs Polifax.
I love Mrs. Pillofax!
I enjoy the unlikelihood of this CIA agent. (Or is it FBI?)
This is a great read if you want a fun relaxing book. Always learn something from these books. Her characters are always wonderfully developed.
I reread all the Pollifax books every few years. As enjoyable each time through as the first time. Gilman wrote other adult and YA books under Gilman and Gilman Butters and i’ve collected them in hardback which I rarely do. Mrs. pollifax is no spring chicken, but she’s no shrinking violet—plenty of danger, adventures, international intrigue, and romance.
Love Mrs, Pollifax. She manages to get into the most delightful predicaments – and then get herself out while saving the world.
Although the Mrs Polifax series has been around for quite a while, this Is the first time I have read one of the series. I am totally enamoured with this delightful heroine. Looking forward to getting more of these books!
Classic Mrs. P
Love love love Mrs Pollifax!
Love the whole series.
Another incredible spy romp by my favorite Garden club grandmotherly spy. Who also happens to know karate.
Spying the cure for severe boredom and depression.
I love Mrs. Pollifax.
I love the spontaneity of this totally witty Mrs Pollifax.
How can anyone not love and be entertained by the indomitable Mrs Polifax!
Another great adventure for Mrs. Pollifax!
