“Mrs. Pollifax gives Agatha Christie’s Miss Marple a rival to reckon with.”—Toronto Star“What we are looking for—aside from the stolen Plutonium, Mrs. Pollifax—is evil in its purest form.” Mrs. Pollifax was leading a very full life: Garden Club, karate, yoga—and a little spying now and then. This time the mysterious Mr. Carstairs sent her to Switzerland—to a famous health resort where the world’s … Switzerland—to a famous health resort where the world’s intelligence agents had gathered.
The mission: to track down a missing package of plutonium. Just enough to make a small atom bomb.

I am a huge fan of the Mrs. Pollifax series. This is good but not one of my favorites. I still recommend it.
I have loved Mrs. Pollifax for longer than I remember. Enough said!
I love this book, so much that also have in paperback. Mrs Pollifax is a delightful character who always wins in the end. Before she wins she is pursued by the bad guys, is captured and of course rescued. Who rescues her is a major surprise. You will enjoy this book.
Formula writing but always entertaining. As a senior I would love to do the unexpected as she does
I have LOVED Ms. Polifax since I first discovered her (too) many years ago. Gilman’s books are wonderful, with the internet I have discovered that she wrote some of the books I enjoyed in 7& 8th grade too (Girl in buckskin)
A LOVELY CHARACTER TO FOLLOW.
One of a great series!
Gilman does a wonderful job of developing the characters throughout. Mrs. Pollifax always manages to get herself out of whatever predicament she finds herself in.
I always enjoy these books. An easy and delightful read.
Mrs pollifax are always fun to read but with a good plot and she makes the characters real
Mrs. Pollifax is always entertaining.
Suspend reality! Mrs. Pollifax at the hands of Dorothy Gilmore is at it again. British to the core, and totally delightful. When the story drags for a moment, just skip over a bit and continue farther along. Well worth the ridiculous journey.
Easy, light hearted reading.
Dorothy Gilman’s Mrs. Pollifax series are classics! Hers were the first mystery series I read years ago, and they still entertain mystery lovers today. Engaging plot and characters, along with interesting local color make this and others in her series an easy read.
Another great adventure for Mrs. Pollifax.
I have enjoyed Mrs. Pollifax for many years. Her method of arriving at the job she is in, is particularly entertaining. She gets herself in many challenging entanglements, particularly for a Senior Citizen. Don’t want to give away her position, but a reader of fun, challenging mysteries will enjoy it.
Fun read. Love the characters
A Palm…Mrs Pollifax is just one in a series of charming yet intriguing series. Mrs. Pollifax is an unlikely hero you can’t not like. You will root for her and her unsuspecting supporting characters as Mrs. Pollifax stumbles into some amazing dilemmas. I have read them all and wish there were more,
I like these books. An easy read and some good twists.
I truly appreciate this author. She concerns that life isn’t over until it is over.
