This book was a wonderful read. I could picture the people in my mind. I had to force myself to put it down so that I could charge my reading device. I would definitely read another book from this author as well as recommend it to my friends.

A Night Rose for the Duke from Fanny Finch is another well-written clean historical romance. As we are used to from Fanny, there is plenty of drama happening and it is full of surprising twists. The story is captivating and will keep you fascinating until the end
This story is about two people (Eleanor and Charles), who have both experienced love and loss. Along with it came distrust of others and fear of being hurt again. They must both break free of their fears if they are to have a happy life. This is the kind of love story that will make you cry as I did. That’s what a well written story does to me. A good read!
The regency era mores made it fairly easy to ruin a lady’s reputation or at the very least put a stain on it. Charles Duncan, the Duke of Finchester, had closed himself off to avoid making the same mistake of his first marriage. Eleanor Ashford the Countess of Grenshire, had withdrawn from London to avoid the rumors that had been spread, labeling her as the Night Rose, the poisonous flower. Fanny Finch brings these two broken or at least badly bruised souls together, but they will have to overcome their own fear and Eleanor’s stepmother. This is a well written story with interesting characters. I love the contrast between Lady Wimbledon and the Dowager Duchess of Finchester. This is an enjoyable story.
Not a easy read. Sentences poorly written
Some people have it within them to rise above undesirable events that beset them. The heroine of this story is such an individual, and her steadfast adherence to her continued, albeit quiet deeds that encourage others, ultimately earns her the respect of those who can help her rise above the tumult.
Written by a 7th grader? Very simplistic and predictable.
They overcame a lot to find happiness.
This book was amazing.
Writing is redundant. Too repetitive and slow moving = boring. I did not finish it.
Vapid characters, saccharine sweet storyline, and yes, you will get an amen.
Don’t waste your time even skimming the blessed thing.
Enjoyed the characters and how life can turn you around! Very entertaining.
I really enjoyed the story!
Sweet romance
I throughly enjoyed this book from beginning to end. It kept my interest all the way fhrough. A great book to read, all will enjoy it.
The characters are authentic, believable and so realistic with depth and traits that blend and play off one another perfectly.
Lady Eleanor Ashford was going to the market for some shopping her brother Edwin Wimbledon was concerned about her going and wanted to know if she wanted him to come with her she told him no. That she could fight her own battles and nobody would recognize her in her drab clothing and a veil. And she promised Edwin that if there were problems she would call for him. Her companion Francis Jones was standing there watching them when her brother turned to look at her heels in love with Francis and her ladies companion flesh him and broke eye contact. She planned to see that Francis and Edwin were married by the summer it had been three years since she had been in London when her husband died in a shipwreck and rumors flew that she had caused his death because he was trying to get away from and that she had killed her mother and that she drove everyone that loved her away from it had devastated her and she ran to her home in Grenshire and took care of the people there. She was the Countess of Grenshire her husband’s nephew had inherited the title of Earl but it had been decided that until he was older she would oversee the estate and the duties in Grenshire. Eleanor did not want to listen to any more vicious rumors about her and simply wanted to have a quiet season. While attending a few balls, seeing a few plays and opera performances, and walking in the park with Frances and Edwin while hopefully keeping her identity hidden. Charles Duncan, Duke of Finchester that some 3000 pounds and some change when out of the purse in the past month but they could only account for 2000 pounds. The Dowager Duchess took the account book and looked at it and told him that all the household items they had purchased from Mr. Raleigh were marked as less than they had actually paid for them. And he asked her you didn’t make a purchase that you failed to mention and she said of course not everything she had bought with his sister Thomas had paid her son-in-law. Charles decided that Mr. Raleigh had been charging one prize and listing a second prize on the invoices his mother said that our the servants they sent to Mr. Riley’s to pick up things were saying that they cost one prize and keeping the excessive amount from what they actually paid for and the only way to know would be to check with Mr. Riley so Charles said he would. While Eleanor was at the market there was a commotion going on and she went to see what it was all about the traitor store with loaves of bread and fruit arranged in the front had an angry -looking bald man holding a young lad who looked not to be more than 10 years old and a loaf of bread in the other hand. Eleanor offered to pay five times the amount what he had stolen the traitor let the boy go instantly and Eleanor decided she would take him home and see if hitting he had any injuries and offer him home and employment in her household she couldn’t do that for every child but she could do it for this one. And then her veil falls. She was shocked and there was murmuring and people gas they called her night Rose and she felt something squeezing her hand and looked down the boy who she had rescued looked up at her reassuringly as if offering her his strength and she decided to leave. Then all of a sudden another voice came and said that was no way to speak to a lady Eleanor turned to look at him and discovered his handsome man he had seen in a while who had come to rescue her. To find out who the gentleman is and what his relationship to Eleanor might be you have to read the rest of the book. It’s a good book with lots of ups and downs…
Eleanor s life is filled with tragedy. Her mom died when she was done, the first man she loved eloped with her stepsister then when she finally found love again her husband died at see! Through all this she endured despite her hateful evil stepmother. Always happy and thankful that she had a wonderful brother especially when their father turned a dead ear to them! With her brothers encouragement she returned to London for the season after her mourning period was done. Once in London she continued to hit her appearance as the rumors started again about what bad luck she was, especially vicious rumored that it was her fault her beloved husband died. One day at the market her veil slips as she is trying to rescue an orphan from a cruel vendor! That’s when she meets a mysterious stranger and is immediately mesmerized by him. When her brother takes her to a masquerade ball she encounters the mysterious man again! When she makes a friend in the park she discovers that the mysterious man is this woman’s brother the Duke of Finchester! She soon learns this man has secrets of his own he’s not eager to share! I loved the romance between the two! They both have trust issues and secrets they don’t want to come out! I loved both families! This was a very nice easy read! I loved this book and this author!
I really enjoyed A Night Rose for the Duke. Eleanor and Charles both having suffered loss in the past. And in the present at the hands of an evil stepmother. Finally get their happy ever after. One thing I didn’t agree with was how Eleanor’s father handled Lady Wimbledon in the end. After all she’d done to his children he forgave her because of the the love he bore for her. That part just really bothered me after the way that Eleanor had suffered publicly and privately due to the evil deeds of that woman.
This is a clean read and I recommend it and all of Fanny Finch’s books.
Well written about two people who have tragedy in their lives. They meet coincidentally and through a lot of good and bad circumstances manage to change things. It is very emotional, surprising, suspenseful and so much more. Love this author. She takes all this tragedy and all and makes the characters and the story flow perfectly. I highly recommend it. I received a review copy and voluntarily review it.
