“With her signature blend of raw primal passion and emotion, Addison Cain brings us a hot read guaranteed to warm up anyone’s winter night!” –Zoe Blake, USA TODAY bestselling author An assassin’s vow of chastity must never waver. To crave the flesh is to be distracted. To fail. Yet desire takes hold of reason each time he looks at River, his uninvited savior—the crass woman offering him shelter … his uninvited savior—the crass woman offering him shelter through a raging blizzard.
Stranded together in her cabin, it’s impossible to resist. The way her lips part as she sleeps, those soft brown eyes gazing at the fire… and a tongue sharper than any blade he’s buried in a target’s ribs.
He’s never known a woman, but her? He’s going to learn every last inch of River before the snow breaks.
A Night by my Fire is a stand-alone novella that contains no cliffhangers. Need to warm up in front of a fire? Wrap yourself in a soft blanket and enjoy!

I loved this book. It was really different, the way the story is told and written as well as the build up and relationship. The end made be sad, it probably shouldn’t have because the characters weren’t. But, I felt a loss of them, for them. I loved that both of their points of view were told in the same scenes. This was really good.
Addison Cain has treated us to a holiday story. If by holiday story, I mean a story about a woman saving an ungrateful man’s life, and then the two of them are forced into confinement in a teeny-tiny abode to wait out a storm, then Merry Christmas to me, and you, and you, and yes, you too. This is a fun story. Yes, there’s life and death and threats and all sorts of things going on, but it’s also exactly how I would picture a scenario like that going down. Truly. River is amazing and strong and I really want to know her backstory. Stephen is all sorts of a hot mess, which is quite the opposite of what we’re used to with stories like these. And I loved that she never got his name. If you’re looking for a satisfying read that isn’t all chocolate and roses, then grab your copy of “A Night by my Fire.”
OMG! What just happened!
“A Night by My Fire” is an intense sexual thriller. The main characters, River a hermit living in the mountains, and Stephen an unwillingly retired assassin, meet when River saves his life. The intense by-play of these two protagonists is suspenseful and funny. This is a well-written short read that will leave you wanting MORE. The not so HEA surprise ending will leave you with plenty of questions and eagerly anticipating the next installment. I highly recommend this read,

This was just what I needed for this time of year. The plot was different yet intriguing! The characters were drawing you into the twisted chemistry that they were experiencing with one another. Their past helping River and Stephen find their way to each other through the darkness that they suffered. You’ll fall into their world without hesitation.
This a really amazing short story about River, a openmouthed woman living in solitude, and Stephen a should be dead agent. Perfectly heated for a winter night. Even when it’s not her usual genre, Addison Cain does an incredible job of writing an addictive story, where you just want more.
Woo this was a bit of a different book from what I’m used to with this author, but it was still an interesting read! It never fails that when the ending comes I’m never ready! Lol
I loved that the guy was the virgin in this one. But of course it doesn’t stop him from making the woman feel good! Definitely steamy and even tho it was a quick read it was still addicting!
Addison brings you in with another romance, but with major differences then her usual horror and gore. Night by Fire brings you 2 strangers and a blizzard with a little bit of raw sexual excitement. I was incredibly impressed how well Addison could transition into another genre without skipping a beat. I was completely captivated and hope we see a second installment in the nesr future.
Addison Cain’s novella A Night by my Fire, is full of surprises! Our heroin, River, is a treat! she is independent, dirty, feisty and doesn’t give a dime about how she looks. Yet, we don’t learn much about how she came to live and be the way she is. It is our “hero”, Stephan, who is always noticing and criticizing her for her lack of womanly graces. Our hero is mysterious, we dont learn a lot about him and I wished we had, since he seem to have and intense and interesting background. In the end the story leaves you wanting more and hopefully Cain will write a follow up to let us know if we get HEA.
I give only 4 stars because we are missing background that would make us understand the characters better.
A pleasant Surprise
One thing that can always be said about this author is that she is always reinventing herself. Regardless of what subgenre that she writes, she always crafts a story that is unique and strangely all her own. Her ability to create characters and stories that are sure to have a different element that is is not often written about is astounding.
This was a quick read. Very different than what I am used to from this author but still a nice read. It has a little bit of everything; humor, steam, and interesting characters. The ending was different than I was expecting and I wish that the story was longer (this is nothing new since I always want more words from this author). I hope that she maybe someday revisits this novella and expands on it.
This got interesting real quick. For a story with not a lot details it was amazing. I also hoping there is more from River and Stephen. With the abrupt leaving from Stephen gets the story unfinished.
This is a must read, this story has a strong independent women and an Alpha man. This is a steamy, great story with great characters. This story left me wanting more of this love story.

I loved this read and hated to see it end! River lives in a harsh and brutal world and rescues Stephen before he freezes in the harsh tundra weather. She nurses him back to health and sparks fly between them but Stephen has a lot of secrets. Will he stay with her or leave her? Fast-paced intense read with amazing chemistry and intriguing characters. I was hooked from beginning to end and would love to know more about Stephen.
All I can say is wow. I’m not giving anything away, you’ll have to read it for yourself!
Loved this short read! The author knows how to make every word count in this story. While a storm rages outside, there is a different kind of storm raging inside the small cabin owned by the independent survivalist woman. I am so intrigued by the man she saves. The characters were fresh and surprising; the plot was complete but left me wanting more. This story is the convergence of two unique characters and I desperate to learn both their stories before this point.
Beautifully written.

When I started reading I couldn’t put it down.Addison Cain is magnifysent and amazing writer.I cannot wait to read more of there books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book. Can’t wait for the next book.
Recluse River rescues the injured and unconscious Stephen from a drowning death. But is he grateful? Nope. All the big brute seems capable of is complaining and threatening her. That is, until the day Stephen realises he’s a virile male and River’s a young female … and from that moment onward, there are no rules but those he chooses to make.
A Night by my Fire is an intense, intriguing and steamy story that will leave you wanting more
A rare non dark, non horror story from the author. It is a very easy going story with two unusual characters. The ending is unexpected and opened. Can’t wait to read the second part.
I am always excited to dig into a new book by Addison Cain. She has written such different books across various genres and, while they are all unique, I can always distinguish her distinct brand of storytelling. This novella is no different. This is a story of River and Stephan, the recluse and the stranger and their unlikely and unconventional relationship. While it might not have a traditional ending (as many other Addison’s works), it is rife with humor, survival and scorching heat.
From the very beginning I was sucked in. This was something I was so not expecting, even from Addison Cain! The pace is fast and unforgiving. Just how it’s intended I’m sure. River’s sharp wit and the strangers boldness was a perfect mix. Not for the faint of heart that’s for sure.
Though I must admit even though there is no cliffhanger, I’m still left wanting more. These two characters were just the little break I needed to get out of my rut.
Not Your Mama’s Romance – Loved it!!
River lives remotely in the wilderness. Her cabin has no modern comforts, and each day’s task is to complete activities which provide food and warmth for survival. When she fishes a man out of a lake and nurses him back to health, she gets a surly response rather than a thank you.
Stephen, originally an orphan, was raised to be a soldier. Failure meant death. Except River intervened.
A fascinating vignette of two loners coming together, with a clash of wills and a increase of pulse. Loved it and would recommend it!
