Nick Parker was just drafted into the NHL—following in his father’s footsteps. Loralei Shaw is a sexy software engineer that came back home for a fresh start. They’re friends who haven’t seen each other since that night four years ago… Nashville Wolverines. His parents throw him a party—a celebration for all his accomplishments. It’s there that he comes face-to-face with Loralei Shaw. His long-time friend that he hasn’t seen or talked to since the day he left for college. And, man, has she changed.
Loralei Shaw returns home to Nashville after getting her degree. She’s offered an exciting new job and a fresh start away from her controlling ex-fiancé. Loralei has changed, physically and emotionally since she left Nashville to go to college. Everyone can see it.
When Nick and Loralei reconnect at his party, she can tell that he likes what he sees. Oh, how the tables have turned. She’s always had a huge crush on Nick, like all the rest of the girls. Now he’s the one pursuing her. Maybe she’d give him the time of day if he hadn’t left things the way he did four years ago—and broken her heart in the process.
With chemistry that’s impossible to ignore, and Nick doing all he can to break down the walls Loralei has up, could now be the right time for a second chance between them? Or will past hurts and a broken heart be too much to risk for Loralei?

Until next time… Happy Reading!
Nick was born to play hockey. When he finally gets chosen for the same team his father played on he is happy. At a congratulation party he sees his childhood friend Lorelei. He broke her heart when he left to go to college. Now 4 years later, they see each other again and both are attracted to each other. But Lorelei isn’t going to cave in that easy as she still is nurturing the heartbreak he left. Yet their chemistry can’t be denied. Nick has to prove himself to Lorelei and she has to forgive. Love hockey stories so this one I really liked.

A sweet story with nice storyline and plot. Characters well defined and nice chemistry. A sweet story that is average. Lacks depth at times.
Worth the read but feels like I have read it before.
Great storyline and character development made this book a hot and enjoyable read! I could not put it down it was that good!

An interesting well written enjoyable short hockey romance. This second chance contemporary sports storyline kept me engaged page after page. The characters were well developed with amazing chemistry. I voluntarily read and reviewed this ARC.
Lorealei and Nick were childhood friends that had one night together. The timing was wrong and in their youth they didn’t know how to handle the fallout. The separation allowed both to experience life. It showed them what they didn’t want. Nick has to earn Lora’s trust again. Cute short story with fun characters.

I enjoyed this new story in the “Rules of the Game’ series. These are all stand alone stories with some connected characters. I love this one!! These stories just keep getting better and more addicting. This is Nick and Loralei’s story! It’s a great second chance with between a hockey player and his once best friend. Nicely developed story that completely hooked me and I could not put down until the very end.
An entertaining, captivating, and interesting fast pace second chance romance and an amazing addition to the ‘Rules of the game’ series – a new generation! It is well written with intriguing characters; the chemistry between them is off the charts. This story will keep you captivated from beginning to end. Definitely recommended.

This book is the sixth in the Rules of the Games series. I absolutely love this second chance twist that the author has in store for us readers with Nick and Loralie’s story. Nick and Loralie both find themselves back in Nashville after four years. Take it a step farther and Loralie finds herself attending the party welcoming Nick home and for making the Nashville Wolverine hockey team. This should not be a big deal or awkward in any way but it is. You see four years ago, Nick and Loralie were the best friends until one night…….they weren’t. Can these two sort out the past? Do they have a future? This is a great story and thank you so much for the great twist on the characters. For those readers, who have read the whole series, pick this one up and get started. If you have not read the whole series, roll on back to book one and start there. Our main characters existence rests on the love that is found and begun in books one and two. You will not be disappointed!

Emma Tharp hits it in the net with A NEW SEASON (Rules of the Game #6). Hockey prospect Nick Parker hasn’t seen his once best friend, Loralei Shaw, since he broke her heart four years ago. Now they’re both returning home to Nashville. Nick wants a second chance, but Loralei is not going to make it easy. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for adult readers.
I love that Nick and Loralei are the kids of Cora and Derek Parker (SCORING CHANCE Book 1) and Alex and Cole Shaw (DEFENDING YOUR HEART Book 2). I also appreciate that Nick was drafted by the Wolverines who Derek and Cole played for. I love next-generation stories.
I like that both Nick and Loralei have matured in the last four years. They both had exes that caused them grief. They had some misunderstanding and now have an opportunity to clear things up. I love that they get this second chance. They have interesting obstacles to overcome. They have a lifelong friendship that evolved into more. I recommend this book to people who enjoy second chance sports romances. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Another great hockey based book in this series and once again it is a quick read that draws you in and keeps you negaged
Loralei Shaw and Nick Parker grew up together their fathers played hockey and their families socialised then one night just before Nick left for college they crossed the line. and he broke her heart when he left just leaving a note behind. She went away to college got engaged and changed completely. Now she has returned home to a new job after breaking her engagement and he has fulfilled his dreams and been signed to a professional hockey team. They meet up again at a party his parents throw to celebrate his success. What he isn’t expecting is that his playmate is now all grown up and totally hot. She may have had a crush on him when they where younger but now he is the one doing the pursuing but will she forgive him for breaking her heart and do they have a future together
So I liked this quick read, it was a sweet story. I genuinely wish it had more substance woven into it.

Nick and Loralei have known each other for their entire lives, and were great friends. Until they crossed THAT line just before they both left for college. Nick is beginning his NHL career, following in his father’s footsteps. Loralei has moved back to her hometown after college to work for a software development company. Things are awkward between them at first. Nick knows that they made a mistake four years ago, and wants to make it up to Lora and move forward with a relationship. She’s having a hard time trusting him again, but even harder is knowing that her father and sister know just how much Nick hurt her. This book has a very happy ending. I’ve loved reading this series, and am sorry to see it end. (Honestly, I’m hoping that the author will begin a new series with this next generation.)

Nick and Lorelei have k own each other all their lives and have been best friends ever since. However that all changed four years ago when one night led to heartache for Lorelei. Now four years later both are back in town after college to start their careers. When Nick sees Lora again he is instantly attracted to her but Lorelei refuses to let him hurt her again. Nick definitely has an uphill battle on his hands bit he refuses to let his second chance with Loralei go without a fight. This was a sweet book about how sometimes people get a chance to rewrite their biggest mistake. A good second chance romance.

Another great book to the series brings a second chance romance between Loralei and Nick who had a one night stand before he left her behind. The chemistry is still there but can he convince her he’s a changed man? It’s a sweet romance , is well written , moves quickly and smoothly and I enjoyed reading.

Nick and Loralei both come from hockey families and he is playing for their dads’ old team. They have history but haven’t been in touch since a one night stand before they left for different colleges now they are back in their home town. He wants to pursue her but she feels hurt from the past. I enjoyed the story of young love and challenges faced, the characters are likable and I liked the author’s writing style. I’m looking forward to more from Emma Tharp.
He once broke her heart. Now they have reconnected and she is nothing like the girl he left behind. When Nick sees Loralei at a party for him, he makes a mad dash towards her only for her to kindly walk away. He’s captivated and she’s skeptical. Will these two work out their differences to have a second chance for a happily ever after?
