This is another thorough enjoyable book in “The Returned Lords of Grosvenor Square” series. Lord Stephen Carrington, the Duke of Edgewater, had lost his wife, leaving his children without a mother. Fortunately, he found Jenny Edgington more than adequate to fulfill that governess role of caring for and nurturing his two children until he returned home from his duties overseas. Jenny herself had lost her parents and could fully understand and know how to relate to the children’s pain. And she understands his as well. Can she help him to see that the family he needs is right in front of him? Can he trust his heart to her, and see the love she has already given to his children?
The author does a wonderful job of giving the reader a full understanding of the characters and the situation they find themselves in. Both have suffered lost, Stephen through the loss of his wife, Jenny through the loss of her parents, and the children through the loss of their mother. But Jenny has more than enough love and compassion for the children. Can she bring that love and compassion for the Duke as well, despite the difference in their stations? Grab your copy of this wonderful story and see if there is hope for happiness despite the painful tragedy that brought them all together.
I just finished reading A New Home for the Duke: A Regency Romance by Rose Pearson. This is book number four in The Returned Lords of Grosvenor Square Series. I have read them all and enjoyed them all. In this novel, a determined governess helps a young widower who is torn apart by grief after his wife passes away. In turn he pushes away his children. The governess helps heal the family and bring love back into their lives. Very heartwarming and enjoyable read. This is a clean Regency and a very quick read.
ONE WONDERFUL TREAT!!!
Oh my gosh! Man, talk about living with heartbreak. An eddy of unexpected circumstances and unpredictable events thrust all of those swirling emotions into play front and center. Rose tosses everything in one huge pot and stirs vigorously. Throws it up and watches it land with all the drama, intrigue, angst and suspense that bursts this bad boy together one beautiful piece at a time. Twists and turns abound along with a few glitches, bumps and bruises blasts this turbulent storyline and stormy plot that spins this baby to life brilliantly. The characters are authentic, imaginable with depth and personalities that’s easily relatable. The scenes are strikingly sharp and descriptive you have no problem picturing each scenario as they play out and blend smoothly. Remarkable job, Rose, thanks for sharing this little wonder with us.
Stephen a broken Duke who lost his wife sent his children back to England with a governess to watch over them. She quit as soon as she delivered them to his estate at Prestwick House. Jenny was hired as governess to the children and found a very hard time of it until the Duke returned home himself. He had been kicked out of the Army for drinking to much… there is so much more to find out what occurred in this lovely book. It has some sad, some fun and much love to find in it and I recommend this book, you will enjoy it, I did!

Another completely unique storyline from Rose Pearson. Stephen, Duke of Carrington has lost his wife to cholera in India. He sends his children home but in their grief, they are very difficult and unruly so no governess will stay. Jenny Eddington is a distant cousin and agrees to become their governess. She has recently lost all her direct family and needs a place. As the situation worsens, Stephen is sent home to deal with his estate and children. The Duke had never met anyone as straightforward as Miss Eddington. He needs her to bring his family together.

A great regency read. I loved Jenny and the Duke’s story. Both had suffered lost but found happiness together.
“A New Home for the Duke” by Rose Pearson
A clean Regency romance with a lot of love and forbearance. The story of a family suffering a deep loss and finding their way into what life may still hold in store for them. Come join Jenny, John, Mary, and Stephan in this adventure into their future. I received an ARC of this story as a gift from the author. This is my opinion.. this is a worthy read.. I do hope you will agree with me.
Jenny, just recently orphaned herself, finds employment as a Governess to two very unruly children. The two were sent home from India by their father, the Duke of Carrington, after their mother passed away. Now Jenny needs to bring these two peace after the trauma in their lives. When the Duke arrives home, he basically finds himself in a bottle. Not paying any attention to what’s going on around him and all but ignoring his children, Jenny must decide if speaking her mind is worth possibly losing her position. The Duke realizes he needs to change but he never expects the changes he faces. Can Jenny bring the Duke around or is all lost. These are great character with a truly wonderful story. A must read.

What an awesome story of loss, despair, harsh reality having to be spoken and then forgiveness, hope and love found.

This book starts off rather dark as Lord Carrington has lost his wife a while previous and not handled it well, losing himself to brandy to try to forget the memories. He also shipped his kids off to stay at his estate with caretakers while he ran away to the military, and his kids have been just avoiding their grief and taking it out the lack of attention from their father on others around them. Things are rather shocking at times on how Carrington acts really. Jenny, herself, lost her parents recently to a fire and is brought in as a governess to his kids. She understands what they’re all going through and is determined to help them, but the task proves rather difficult for her. It seemed like Carrington would never improve as the book went on, and even I was getting a little frustrated with him, but things take a beautiful turn later on, and a near-tragic event helps the momentum. This book was a little slow in things finally taking off. I might have stayed up a little too late wanting to see how it ended though, even knowing Rose’s books always have happy endings.
I have yet to read book by Rose Pearson that has not been a great story!! I loved this story so much. It was so sweet. I loved how the author handled the storyline. I look forward to reading more by this wonderful author.

A duke who is grieving for his wife becomes a drunk. His governess helps him and his 2 children find hope.
Jenny Edgington was on her way to become the governess to the Duke of Carrington’s two children, John and Mary. Their mother Martha was a distant relative of Jenny she has passed away while in India with her husband and children. The Duke was so crushed by her death he sent the children home to England but remained in service in India. When Jenny arrived at the Duke’s home both the butler and housekeeper met her at the door before she even knocked, they were so happy to see her but they did explain that the children running wild and disrespectful to all they came in contact with. Upon meeting them they showed just how little respect they had, stepping on her toes and throwing her belongings all over, Jenny was not discouraged she would find a way to help them losing their mother and the Duke not coming home had left them with no one to love them and steer them in the right direction, after all, she knew what it was to lose a loved one suddenly as both her parents had recently perished in a fire leaving her alone. In his misery, the Duke developed a drinking problem it got so bad his commanding officer sent him home he was no longer to serve his country. Once home he continued his drinking and did not talk or even acknowledge his children, which causes Jenny to speak her mind about his failings as a father, she knows she risks her job but she won’t stand by and do nothing. Enjoy reading what happens along the way.

This story involves a Duke who loses his one true love. The two also shared two children. He doesn’t handle his loss well and he fails to give his kids support needed as a result of their loss of a mother.
A Governess is hired and things really get interesting in this book.

SETTING: Touching story of Jenny, a young woman, recently orphaned, who finds employment as s governess to 2 unruly children. They were sent back to England by their father 8 months ago after their mother abruptly died. Their father, Duke of Edgewater, has not returned. In their bereavement of not only their mother, but now also of their father’s company, they are lashing out—at everyone. Jenny has great empathy with them, as she , too, has just lost both of her parents. Her insight into to their situation allows her to begin to work with John and Mary, to provide some stability in their lives.
When their father is relieved of duty (for conduct unbecoming of an officer), he returns a changed man from the father they had known, loved and depended on. Drowning his grief in alcohol, pushing himself away from his children, the situation grows grave. Is there anything that can be done to bring him to his senses?
CRITIQUE: The story makes for compelling reading—indeed, I read it straight through. Jenny, our heroine, is a strong character, well suited to handle the children. The Duke is a pitiful picture initially. You want to have sympathy for the man who just lost the light of his world, but his self-centeredness makes him seem weak, a bit hard to like initially. However, Jenny’s bold forthright words to him on several occasions are taken to heart, and he begins to make the needed changes to become the father he once was. The situation is realistic, and the writing not overly melodramatic. A clean romance, will be enjoyed by all ages.

The Duke and the governess are unlikely to form a love match. Loved this fast paced romance that both tried to fight. He is the Duke who is suffering the loss of hid dear wife and she is the governess for his children. The governess helps both the children and father over come and find each other again.
