A great ending to the Warlocks mini-series!
A Necromancer’s Love is the sixth and final book in The Order of the Black Oak – Warlocks mini-series. I loved this book and this series. The characters have all been wonderfully developed and intertwine in the other stories. The storyline is amazing and engaging, full of magic, vampire, danger, suspense, and romance. This is a series that I will definitely be re-reading.
I am looking forward to The Order of the Black Oak – Mont-Royal Immortals mini-series.

This is another great book in complex and dynamic world of The Order of the Black Oak. This story has great intensity and passion. Malcom and Harper are well developed characters that make the story. Harper can be a bit reckless but she not one to let somethinh/one get in her way.

Okay this is my favorite book in the series but I just couldn’t give it 5 stars Malcolm is everything a dark hero should be but my biggest problem was Harper sometimes she came of as 15 with her first crush and I don’t know why the author felt the need to focus on the clothing so much. And Harper had a really hard time letting go of things her brother was a vampire who had done really bad things really awful stuff. But Harper was all like well I can just cure him and it will wipe the slate clean uh know it doesn’t work like that. But what made this book work and made it grate was Malcolm his willingness to sacrifice and his ultimate act of Love for Harper is what made this story good.
Harper a travel blogger is trying to find her brother a hot mess of trouble so not deserving of her devotion he has managed to fall into one more bad mistake now he is a Vampire. And Harper has convinced herself she can fix him and her search brings her to Seattle were she meets Malcolm.
Malcolm has been tracking and hunting Vampires trying to find out who has been making so many of them. He thinks he’s to dark and dangerous for Harper he carries allot of guilt and many secrets and even though he can’t stand Vampire’s he is willing to help Harper and when and even older more dangerous vampire shows up he will do whatever he can to protect her. But Harper makes one fatal mistake she trust her brother now Malcolm is running out of time to save the woman he loves.
I was allowed to read and advance copy of this book via Booksprout and this is my honest review.
The sixth book and the last in this mini-series The Order of the Black Oak – Warlocks. A book that once I started I was not putting down. Harper just could not see the wrong someone close to her caused. Malcolm/Mal is in love with Harper but he has to stand back and let her handle things her way. There is suspense, drama, danger, evil, vampires, Daemon, the Tree of Life, and romance. I enjoyed reading this book. I believe that I have read all but the first two books of this series. I like this author’s spin on the paranormal world. In these warlocks, she has created a fascinating group of men to follow as they try to keep the world safe. In this particular book, she is able to create sympathy for the heroine right away; Harper is looking for her brother who has been turned into a vampire. She believes that she can cure him. (Doesn’t she read vampire books or watch vampire movies?) Malcolm is a necromancer, and she has come to him for assistance to find her brother. Little does she know that Malcolm has intimate knowledge of her brother. When we first meet Malcolm, it is through Harper’s eyes, and she sees him as this slightly scary, big man who also makes her feel safe. In the first chapter narrated from his point of view, we find him to be a very kind and compassionate person; he hates how this information about her brother is causing Harper pain. He is definitely different from a lot of necromancers that I read about in fiction. There is an instant attraction between the two of them, though neither feels they should act on it. The vampires in this book are nothing like the twinkly kind that we might be familiar with. These are dark, foul creatures, and Harper has a hard time accepting that her brother is one of these beings and no longer human. She can’t accept that she can’t help him.
Like the other books in this series, the author has drawn a complex world with three-dimensional characters that you care about and want to see succeed. If you picked up any of the other books in this series, you would most likely enjoy this installment. If you haven’t read the others in the series, this book can be read as a standalone, thought your enjoyment would be increased if you have read some of the previous books as this allows you to fully understand the world. A great paranormal read.
*SPOILERS*
I really loved reading this book, it took me less than a day to read the whole book. I was sad when it came to the end but I really loved how everything finally tied together. I wasn’t sure how I felt when Harper was possibly being turned into a vampire and I really enjoyed when Mal kept thinking about her and how she was the light of everything. To be honest I was worried that I was going to read a lot about them fighting since he gave her his essence to keep her from turning into a vampire but I was happy to see that she was very accepting and understanding about the situation. In the end it tied together really well, I like how she agrees to go anywhere as long as it was with him and accepts that she needs to let her brother go. It was sad but it needed to be done and she ended up standing up to him about everything and let him go. It was a great love story and I love the build up to it.

Once again a great book, awesome story and great characters!!! Mal is Mr. Mysterious and aloof, of course and Harper is a force to reckon with! I think we can all relate to having a younger sibling that we feel we were always trying to help get them on the right path…some of us won and some of us were not so lucky. I love how quickly Harper accepts everything that’s going on around her! Strong female heroine’s are one of my fave’s and of course must have the prerequisite hottie… Mal is it! =) Love the reference to the other Vampire who from the sounds of it just may get a nice lil visit from one of the Warlocks….side story or series????
Thank you Marie Claude-Bourque for a verra well spun romance!! Och lass am looking forward to the next book already!

This book hovered between 2 and 3 stars for me. Harper is said to be life-loving, to me she came across as stupidly reckless. She would rush headlong into many dangerous situations without a thought of the consequence or the major impact some of her decisions would create. Harper’s thoughts were its done in love so it must be good right?
This author loves to describe the clothing that they wore down to the littlest detail that added nothing to the story. At one point I thought we were going to get a dye lot number and thread count. If this were a fashion story I would get it.
Harper seemed to be caught in between being a woman with many responsibilities to a tween squealing over a good-looking guy.
Malcolm loved how Harper looked and we get copious details about how her cashmere scarf framed her perfect bosom or how he loved her wearing free floating dresses. After Harper would do something totally idiotic and he’s ready to just rip her a new one she would turn her sparkling eyes his way and her dress framing her figure just so would make him forgive her right away.
The book couldn’t seem to decide if it was supposed to be a scary book or a young adult book with these two mooning over each other.
Trying to get to the plot at times was a bit tedious as we had to wade through a lot of filler to get to the story. There are some really good parts to the story and I would think alright we are back on track and then Harper would do something idiotic again and it would just pull me out of the story. Thankfully towards the end she did seem to grow up a bit and was a bit more reserved in her actions.
There was some light sexual tension in the story as these two mooned over each other. Their final get together was ok nothing to equate to the amount of time the author used to describe their physical reactions to each other throughout the story.

This is the 3rd book I’ve read in this series and it is definitely my favorite. I love Mal. He feels like hes not worthy of love because of his half daemon blood. Harper is perfect for him. She is so full of life. The author did a wonderful job showing the big bad necromancer’s vulnerability. The book is wonderfully written and the only problem with it was it had to end. Highly reccomend this book

Magic and Mystery abounds as Mal and Harper work to uncover how her brother got turned into a vampire and got a hold of the amulet. This story is filled with deep emotions, loads of mystery and tons of magic and action.

I liked the world that was created. Loved the characters. Although Harper could be annoying at times. But I fell in love with Malcolm.
It only received 3 stars even though it was a well written book because it had exactly one steamy scene. Although it wasn’t that steamy. It was toward the end of the book. I like my books with more steam. I would recommend this to my friends that don’t require much if any steam in the books they read.

I was struck by just how blindly loyal Harper was and just how reluctant Mal was to burst her bubble. The situation may not be real but the emotional investment I have seen in battered women and addict-enabling relatives all over the place. Harper refused to see the consequences of her blind loyalty and Mal could not make her see those and because of that willful blindness, innocents suffered. This is the kind of thing that tough love is supposed to help prevent. I guess it takes a personal tragedy to tear the blinders off.

Harper is looking for her brother, Evan. Malcolm tries to make Harper see that the Evan she knew, is gone. Harper is unwilling to see the truth about Evan. Harper and Malcolm fall in love. Good book, well written!
