Now I know the difference between a Daemon and a demon! This book was full of fun facts and information, and I enjoyed reading it. It gives a different take on vampires and introduces us to the Daemon sphere that I am sure will remain stable with Mal at the helm. Harper was a bit too much of a good girl for me initially and grew on me as the story progressed. Mal was just the right amount of he-man/paranormal and a Scot to boot. The book contained a few different types of paranormal beings, and it was nice to see a different perspective on them. I have not read the other books in the series. This one was indeed a standalone as I did not feel that anything was missing from the storyline. I will go back and read the others now, especially since this is the last one in the series.

Having read the previous Black Oak book, I was at least a little familiar with the dark and mysterious world of the Warlocks, and knew the horrific backstory of baby Elsa’s attack. That connection, and knowing how hard Mal worked to save the little banshee, automatically drew me to him and his mystery. Dark, seemingly self-imposed loneliness just exuded from him, and the idea of a woman crossing his path and pulling from the darkness is the ultimate PNR plot, no?
I had a hard time connecting with our dear Harper. Her blind loyalty to a brother who, from her own retellings, never once proved to be anything but trouble, was hard to understand. Time and again, he shows her that he isn’t worth the effort she puts forth to try to save him, but Harper is reckless in her need to fix him. Halfway through the book, I found myself rolling my eyes at her stubbornness. Bless Mal for falling for her, because, outside of her ability to see beauty in all places, I didn’t find much to hold onto there.
Overall, was an enjoyable story. From the author’s blurp, this is apparently the close to this current arch and a new one is to start. I didn’t feel like I missed all that much from the overall story haven’t not read all of the other novels, but having read the novel immediately before this one did help in understand Mal’s resolve in many things.
A Necromancer’s Love is Book 6 and final of The Order of the Black Oak – Warlocks series by Marie-Claude Bourque. This an exceptionally well written story that presents a different view of vampires, of how evil they are, as compared to the usual (would not want to meet this kind). The character development is phenomenal in that you are drawn to the two main characters and become invested in their well being. Malcolm (MMC and son of a daemon and Celtic priestess) is a member of The Order of the Black Oak – Warlock) is troubled by his non-human dark daemon side but feels he has control of it. Harper (MFC is human and sees goodness in all) is seeking her brother Evan, who has been made a vampire, believing she will be able to save him but not believing the evidence of his evilness. She enlists Mal to help her in her search. I found myself being drawn into this supernatural story and rooting for Mal and Harper to overcome the situations they are faced with even though some are created by dump choices made by Harper in an attempt to save her brother. I love how the romance between Mal and Harper grows a the story progresses. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and as it is the first I’ve read of this series as well as this author, I will be reading the first five in this series and I am looking forward to the next series The Order of the Black Oak – Mont Royal Immortals. A Necromancer’s Love is the sixth book in the Order of the Black Oak – Warlocks series, but can be read as a stand alone. Harper is on a mission to save her brother. Always a bit of a rebel, he’s turned into a vampire and Harper is determined to fine a cure. Malcolm hunts vampires, and when he hears about Harper’s cause, he can’t help but help her. But will her belief in everyone’s goodness be their downfall?
I enjoyed this book, as there’s a lot that happens, a lot created, a lot of romantic tension that builds between Harper and Malcolm. Harper is all sunshine and goodness, and I loved that quality about her. While she wasn’t afraid of digging into the darker aspects of this new to her mystical world, she still held firm in her own beliefs. Malcolm was completely drawn to her light, loyal to those he loved, and still battling internal demons when it came to his heritage. I loved that they helped compliment each other, with their lightness and darkness, and I loved that they both were protectors. I think at times, this book moved a little slowly, and as this was my first book by this author, I was concerned about how the ending was shaping up to be, but luckily, I enjoyed how it all played out in the end. I also really liked that I didn’t need to read any of the previous books to understand what was going on in this book. I enjoyed reading this book and wouldn’t mind starting from the beginning with this series!
This is the one I’ve been waiting for since the beginning. Mal is such a complicated man and seems to have everything under control and no worries or fears. Little did we know that he is gooey on the inside and full of feelings that he keeps tightly under control. He is powerful and my heartthrob. Harper, on the other hand, did not deserve him. For being so independent and “smart”, she acted really dumb. I know Evan was her brother, but she even admitted in the beginning how he is a selfish and irresponsible liar that never took responsibility for his own actions. All of the vitrol Evan s pouted at her she wrote off as being held captive. Everyone knows that sort of hate has to come from somewhere deep inside. Even after Mal showed her what happened with baby Elise, she still thought she could save him? I was so glad that she did help Mal face his demons and he gained a type of peace. I cannot wait for The Order of the Black Oak – Mont Royal Immortals. Valerian St. Amand is going to be a very interesting character. Sure hope we hear from him in the future! Looking so forward to reading about this illustrious & mysterious “Mal”! Wish had more fight scenes….it wasn’t overly cheesy & as always enjoy her writing in this series so gave it top billing. Recommended
Was given this story free as an ARC for my honest opinion and review. HAPPY READING!!
This was a great paranormal romance with a touch of steam. The story was exciting and drew you in. I really liked Mal even if Harper could be an idiot.

A love of life.
I had never read a book by this writer before but I found her writing very pleasant, easy to read. Even though this is the last part in a series, you were given enough background information to form an image of the world in which this story takes place. I thought the male character was great. How Malcolm got the feeling that he was going to live now thanks to the sunny nature of Harper while he mainly knew the shadow side of life. I found Harper’s character a bit superficial and I thought that perhaps she continued to assume good things for too long despite all the signals she received that it really isn’t just sunshine shining on her path.
All in all a nice story, a beautiful build-up of a romance in a dark world that is illuminated by their love for each other.

This was a good book, but would have been great if Harper was a bit more of an adult. Overall I enjoyed the story and the book was well written.

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! This is can NOT be the end of this series. You have done it again, Ms. Bourque. You have me hooked into a series and then….. BOO HOO!!!
I can see more stories for the future: weddings, children…. maybe future series?
I love Mal and have been waiting forever for his story. I wanted to know his origins. He thinks he is dark but his actions say something else. I was looking forward to his ancestry.
My complaint is that I still do not know how Mal is tied to the Order besides friendship. What is the ancestry involved. I also missed his normal ‘dark’ side and magic. I feel that it would not have disappeared even being so love struck.
Harper’s outlook, I understand very well. Family expectations override everything, so as a result to survive, she sees the good in everything. However, being so far away from family might have helped her to ‘see’ her brother much sooner?
This is my honest and freely given review. I did receive an ARC book.
One heck of an amazing read that is a non-stop bundle of suspense! The nail-biting storyline will keep you on edge with anticipation for making the perfect choice and a great HEA! Emotionally engrossing, witty, exciting and enjoyable! Lip-biting hot chemistry! An amazing bad boy must read that will have you rooting for Mr. Right to take a hike!

EVERYONE NEEDS LOVE – SOME WILL GO EXTRA LENGTHS TO GET IT
Malcolm, a necromancer, is half daemon and half human. He doesn’t know love. All he has experienced has been death because of his birthright. Enter Harper Grant, a woman who sees nothing but good in life. She wants to save her brother who has been turned into a vampire, the one thing that Malcolm is set to destroy at all costs. The two come to a decision and Mal tries his best to do whatever he can for Evan Grant, her brother. They enter an alliance with one of the born vampires to save Evan from an existence of murdering for blood, BUT Harper begins to see the truth in Evan’s true personality.

I loved this story. Malcolm has always been a mystery. Dark, user of necromancy magic, secretive about his parents and a loner. When he meets Harper Grant, a lifestyle blogger looking for her brother, Malcolm finds his world turned upside down. Now he must fight for the woman who brings light into his life and that means helping her brother. Lots of action, adventure and magic make for a roller coaster ride of a book. Exactly what I have come to expect from this series. I will miss these books and now have to go read them all again and again until the next adventure from this author. Well written with intriguing characters and a plot that sucks you in. I truly feel sad that this series of stories is over but I can catch up on my sleep now so I’ll be ready for the next series of books.

I enjoyed Mal’s story. He has been the one who intrigued me throughout the series. I did find Harper a bit too much of a Pollyanna at first, and some reviewers knocked her down for it. Her failings were all too human, as she could not see her beloved brother for what he had become. We all have our blind spots. Bourque has developed a rich world and I hope she revisits it in the future.

Fantasy is one of my favorite genres and this book is no exception. This book explores different realms, different beings and different hunters. With a true love mixed in. I liked the way the writing was easy to read yet still evoked the emotions that was intended. I only wish that the book were longer and went into a little more detail at the end regarding closure for the family.
