Wedding bells are ringing—and a widowed mother of two hopes the occasion will reunite her daughters in this captivating novel from the New York Times bestselling author of The Island House and Secrets in Summer.“A delightful beach-town tale about family relationships and second chances.”—Kirkus Reviews A few years after losing her beloved husband, Alison is doing something she never thought she … beloved husband, Alison is doing something she never thought she would do again: getting married. While placing the finishing touches on her summer nuptials, Alison is anxious to introduce her fiancé, David, to her grown daughters: Felicity, a worried married mother of two, and Jane, also married but focused on her career. The sisters have a somewhat distant relationship and Alison hopes that the wedding and the weeks leading up to the ceremony will give the siblings a chance to reconnect, as well as meet and get to know David’s grown children.
As the summer progresses, it is anything but smooth sailing. Felicity stumbles upon a terrible secret that could shatter her carefully cultivated world. Jane finds herself under the spell of her soon-to-be stepbrother, Ethan, who is as charming as he is mysterious. And even Alison is surprised (and slightly alarmed) by her new blended family. Revelations, intrigue, resentments—as the Big Day approaches, will the promise of bliss be a bust?

Nancy Thayer knows women and how they think
I love Nancy Thayer and her work!!! This is now my 9th book I’ve read by her since December!! Highly recommend!!! It’s so relaxing and I want to go to Nantucket!!!! 🙂 Her books have helped me through a 6 month acl surgery repair and rehab. Can’t thank her enough!!!!!!
As I’ve found with all of Nancy Thayer’s stories, her characters are engaging and realistic (I see myself as well as many of my own family and friends I her characters!) The story is well developed and captures your interest right away. Lots of emotional ups and downs, funny and serious moments. All the events and unexpected happenings that evolve surrounding any wedding. A truly satisfying read!
This book was good in that it kept me reading. I was kind of poleaxed, however, at how things turned out. It’s a Women’s Lit book about relationships. There’s a mom and her two grown daughters, their husbands and the children of one of the daughters. There’s the mom’s fiance, his son, his daughter and son-in-law and their two children.
Some of the characters were just plain tools–too busy to be involved with their family, not responsive to what their spouse wants, cheaters and just lousy people. I get that life is like that; families are like that. However, the happenings at the end of the story were just hard to reconcile. They just weren’t likely or what you could possibly believe would happen in those relationships. The book was good until the end.
Easy summer read. Two families trying to combine into one with grown children. Married couples going through crisis’ we all go through at one time or other during married life.
Always a great beach read.
Author Nancy Thayer’s beloved beachside tales are a genre all their own–atmospheric, compelling, romantic contemporary women’s fiction. Once you read one–you can’t wait to read another. A love worth having is always worth fighting for, and no matter what your age, when chemistry strikes, it’s hard to resist. Can Alison and David hold on to those breathless, giddy moments and feelings of hope and joyful hearts as all around them becomes a kaleidoscope of change? “A Nantucket Wedding” is a wonderful romantic read–perfect for lovers of contemporary women’s fiction.

My 12th book by Nancy Thayer, I just love her novels. This one involves bringing two families together, now the kids are grown ups with husbands/kids of their own so you would think it would go smoothly!! I just know I would want to smack Poppy across the face so many times and that is what I love about Nancy Thayer’s writing, she makes them seem so real!! Sit down on a beach, by the pool, by the fireplace or where ever you enjoy reading and dive in.
