It is time for Clayton Trent, Earl of Bentley, to take a bride. He knows exactly what he needs and the type of lady who should become his Countess. His life is orderly, scandal free and exactly the way it should be until Miss Eleanor Westin careens into him, upsetting the perfect balance of his world. She is everything his father said he should not marry. Yet, he cannot put her from his mind, not … not even when a decade old scandal threatens the very foundation of his family.
Miss Eleanor Westin has spent her life in the country on the brink of poverty and raising her siblings after the death of her parents until her grandfather finally decides to do his duty and brings her to London. Eleanor simply wants to find a gentleman who is willing to take on her family in the bargain. Love is not even a consideration if she can land security. Unfortunately, the only gentleman who has made any offer is Lord Bentley, and he will never do. If only he would stay out of her dreams so she could forget him and his intoxicating kisses.

Very enjoyable read. I found myself rooting for the characters. There were numerous times that I wanted to just smack the hero upside the head telling him to pay attention — it was that real.
Clayton Trent, Earl of Bentley is looking for a bride, his father was a violent bully who ‘drummed’ it into Clayton that he needed a quiet acquiescent bride for his ordered life. Eleanor Westin has spent the last three years looking after her siblings in the country always on the verge of poverty but is summoned to London by her paternal grandfather Lord Stanhope.
Clayton & Eleanor literally bump into each other in a ballroom & from that point onwards are drawn to each other. There are misunderstandings between the two. There are insights into the early lives of the Trent brothers. We find out that all is not what it seemed for their step mother & sister.
This is a delightful story & the change in Clayton was gradual, so very believable. Eleanor is strong & intelligent.
It left some loose ends so I’ll now be reading the next in the series to find out what happens
I’m a great fan of regency & not all authors convey regency England we.Jane Charles does this. There are some Americanisms but the Trent series is definitely a keeper.
This was a fun adventure. Clay was raised in a way that shaped his thinking into what he knew deep down he could be like. Enter Eleanor and her siblings and grandfather. Her grandfather is the sort no one wants. He is against everything about her siblings N the life she leads with them. Add some drama and subduction and you have a hit.
A Misguided Lord is an awesome historical romance by Jane Charles. Ms. Charles has provided readers with a well-written book furnished with an outstanding cast of characters. Eleanor was summoned to London by her grandfather to find a husband. She knows she needs a husband to help her take care of her brothers and sister, but she doesn’t really want one. Clayton has decided it’s time to take a wife. While he picks others as women he should court, he keeps being drawn to Eleanor. Their story is packed with drama, humor, sizzle, action and suspense. I enjoyed this book from cover to cover and look forward to reading more from Jane Charles in the future. A Misguided Lord is book 2 of the Tenacious Trents Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
This book got slow in the middle and almost lost me
Entertaining story, but seriously needs a copy editor. Far too many typos and spelling errors.
I think the characters were well thought out and consistent thru the whole book. It was an easy read but not entirely predictable, which was nice.
I love the whole “Trent’s” series. Bought all ten books and am glad I found Jane Charles as an author
Book needs to be edited for grammar .
Abrupt ending. Didn’t like that.
Less developed “pride and prejudice” with love scenes and bad dialogue
Moves slowly in some places. Struggled to finish, but a good story overall.
To slow paced. Could not finish.
Wonderful storyline. Some really glaring, painful editing mistakes.
Liked this book, I will recommend it to my friends
Eh. It wasn’t one of this author’s finest; but that could be because I couldn’t like the hero and heroine–much. Their rationale and subsequent choices at times were beyond belief.
Very pleasant and happy book.
I always enjoy a strong female character.Good romantic story
I bought the whole series and read them as soon as I got them. I felt very involved with the characters and plots.
Lots of action and twists and turns in plot. Loved it.
