It is time for Clayton Trent, Earl of Bentley, to take a bride. He knows exactly what he needs and the type of lady who should become his Countess. His life is orderly, scandal free and exactly the way it should be until Miss Eleanor Westin careens into him, upsetting the perfect balance of his world. She is everything his father said he should not marry. Yet, he cannot put her from his mind, not … not even when a decade old scandal threatens the very foundation of his family.
Miss Eleanor Westin has spent her life in the country on the brink of poverty and raising her siblings after the death of her parents until her grandfather finally decides to do his duty and brings her to London. Eleanor simply wants to find a gentleman who is willing to take on her family in the bargain. Love is not even a consideration if she can land security. Unfortunately, the only gentleman who has made any offer is Lord Bentley, and he will never do. If only he would stay out of her dreams so she could forget him and his intoxicating kisses.

The story was wonderfully written, with characters that had depth and drew you into their world. Loved the twists and turns and especially the happy ending. The romance had just enough steamy love scenes to reflect the characters personalities. Would definitely recommend this book. Many thanks to the author for releasing the first in the series free, can’t wait to purchase her other books.
Besides just being a romance, it threw in a little quirk or two. Enjoyed it.
Believable characters who grow and change for the better throughout the story.
Too much sex. Needed more story and less sex.
Entertaining, fast read
Only now I have to read the rest of the series.
Enjoyed it.will probably read more of this author
I thought the characters were not the usual and I found that fun.
Great
If you can ignore the editing errors the story is very entertaining!
A delightful read. Great characters. Twists and turns with quiet humor.
Sweet read.
I am hooked and went on to read the rest of the series
Enjoyed reading this book. Loved the characters and story.
It was a good read
A good book to read and relax.
Good solid historical romance novel.
Things to look for in a husband – 1) wealthy & 2) MUST be willing to raise her brothers & sister; although wealthy isn’t as important as long as he can provide for the family. Those are points that Eleanor Westin is looking for since her grandfather demanded she come to London for the season & find a husband. However, she’d rather be in the country with her little family; especially since she must reside in her grandfather’s house & they must live elsewhere.
Quiet & obedient are the qualities that Clayton Trent, Earl of Bentley, desires in a bride. That fact was drummed into him at an early age by his father. Definitely not someone who is beautiful & enjoys having fun.
What happens when these 2 meet? As Eleanor turns Clayton’s world upside down will his father’s teachings hold true? Will Clayton learn that being in love is not what his father led him to believe? Will Eleanor ever find the security she’s looking for for her family? What happens when she finds the real reason her grandfather had brought her to London & can Clayton save her in time?
Be prepared to want to clobber Clayton, cry at circumstances that arise & be awestruck by the transformation of the characters in this wonderful tale by Jane Charles. Even though this is part of the Tenacious Trents series it can definitely be read as a stand-alone. On to the next Trent story!
