This is the third book in the Wagging Tail Mystery series. Nikki, our protagonist, is preparing for a Christmas getaway with her family. As she is packing, she receives a phone call from one of her clients who cannot get out of town to get to her niece’s home for the holiday. Nikki kindly offers to drive her and Princess since she will be going the same way. Next another client calls and has no place for his German Shepherd to stay due to a last-minute request from his boss. Coco is such a great dog and well trained that Nikki offers to keep him with her for the week. Finally, Nikki and Sonia are on the road with the two dogs and snow is falling. Pretty soon they find themselves driving in a blizzard with the road closed to Sonia’s niece’s house. Nikki ends up taking everyone with her to her cabin. So far nothing is going as planned. They make it to the cabin, check in and settle in for the night. Sometime during the night, Princess wakes Nikki up to go outside. When Princess begins to dig in the snow, Nikki gets curious and finds the body of their housekeeper, Ashley. The set of events set off a chain reaction leading Nikki to delve into the murder when someone she is close to is targeted as the killer. The story is filled with excitement, as Nikki and Sonia get involved to expose the real killer. Will Nikki be able to solve they mystery before the snow buries all the evidence? Another enjoyable read from author, Cindy Bell.
I was disappointed at the end of the book. Nikki starts out on a journey to the ski resort where her brother Kyle works with her unexpected companions. she expects to join with other members of her family for Christmas. Unfortunately things do no go as expected and there is a murder. We are introduced to many characters who are unsavory and unpleasant, however, these characters are left up in the air as they do not contribute to the plot. the murderer reveals his identity while Nikki and Kyle were searching for clues.
Useful to wile away unoccupied time, definitely not mind gripping.
DNF, just could not get into this one from the start. The book description appealed, so I took the bait, but if I am not hooked right at the start, never mind. The reason I did not get into it was the circumstances of all the “coincidences” that make up the start of the mystery. Just too many to justify reading any further. I think I have read some of this author’s other books, but this one was not for me.
It was cute but nothing special. Quick read. Likable characters.
Fun read. Fast read. \
Entertaining
Thankfully it is a short book because it is a lot like all the mass produced cozy mystery books available now.
Nice read. I didn’t figure out who did it until the end. Loved the characters.
Nikki Green is excited to take a break from her pet sitting/dog walking business to spend time with her family at a ski resort over the holidays. Unfortunately things don’t go as planned when first she is caught in a snowstorm and then someone is murdered and her brother is the prime suspect. Since the snowstorm the roads are not passable and only one officer is on the scene. Nikki knows her brother is not guilty and starts her own investigation. I loved the characters and the mystery is well written. I definitely enjoyed reading this and I highly recommend it!
Loved it
This was a great mystery, easy to read, entertaining and highlights the good and not so good in people. Pets are great and save the day.
