The Wall Street Journal bestselling series continues as Mercy Kilpatrick becomes embedded in the nightmare of a terrorist conspiracy. The job: infiltrate a militia amassing illegal firearms in an isolated forest community. FBI agent Mercy Kilpatrick is the ideal candidate. She knows Oregon. She’s near the compound. And having been raised among survivalists, Mercy understands the mind-set of … understands the mind-set of fanatics. Lay low, follow rules, do nothing to sound an alarm, and relinquish all contact with the outside world. She’s ready to blend in.
As Mercy disappears into the winter hills, something just as foreboding emerges. Mercy’s fiancé, Eagle’s Nest police chief Truman Daly, is faced with a puzzling series of murders—three men dumped in random locations after execution-style shootings.
Now, for Mercy, trapped in a culture where suspicion is second nature, and betrayal is punishable to the extreme, there is no way out. No way to call for help. And as plans for a catastrophic terrorist event escalate, there may be no way to stop them. Even if Mercy dies trying.

Kendra Elliot finishes her Mercy Killpatrick series with an adrenaline fueled bang that will leave you on the edge of your seat praying for a happily ever after for her and her little family. Mercy is chosen to go undercover with a group of peppers where there is a very real threat of a terrorist plot that might just be to much for Mercy to handle. Whilst no one is told exactly where she will be going, they do know that there will be no contact, which is very hard on all of them, especially Mercy and Truman. Bodies keep turning up all over Trumans town, and he is trying to stay busy, until his case brings him to Mercys and that’s when he discovers where she really is. It’s brilliant and terrifying, satisfying and epic and it truly is the perfect ending to Mercy and her eccentric family and friends and I truly hope we see them again soon. Just a little visit will do nicely!
A MERCIFUL PROMISE (Mercy Kilpatrick Book #6) by Kendra Elliot is another edge-of-your-seat mystery/suspense/FBI thriller and I am sad to say the final book in the series. If you love an action-packed series with a uniquely strong female protagonist then this is the series for you.
FBI Agent Mercy Kilpatrick is asked to go undercover by the ATF when their agent becomes ill. She will be paired with another ATF agent already infiltrated into an anti-government group they believe have stolen firearms to sell for some unknown plot.
At the same time that Mercy has gone undercover, Truman is made aware of a puzzling series of murders. They are all men, shot once in the head and dumped in random locations. When the third victim turns out to be the agent Mercy was with on assignment, the ATF, FBI and Truman all come together to find Mercy and shut down the camp.
I have been putting off reading and reviewing this book because I have not wanted to leave Mercy and Truman’s world behind. Mercy has changed so much over these six books. She was so isolated starting in book one and now she has so many people she loves and that care about her. Truman is the perfect match for her. He has always understood what makes Mercy unique. All the characters, good and bad are realistic and seem as though they could walk right off the page. The plot pulls you in and the tension continues to build with unexpected twists while moving at a faster and faster pace to the ultimate climax. I was very happy when I read the last chapter that tied up Mercy and Truman’s lives together moving into the future even as I still want to visit.
I highly recommend this Mercy Kilpatrick book, the entire series and this author!
A Merciful Promise by author Kendra Elliot is the final installment in the wonderful Mercy Kilpatrick series. Mercy is an FBI agent who is engaged to be married in three months to the only man she has ever trusted and loved, Truman. She is approached by the ATF to go deep undercover to help extract information about a threatening attack on the ATF by an extremist survivalist group known as America’s Preserve. Mercy will not be allowed to tell anyone where she is going or what the assignment involves, even Truman. Meanwhile, Truman is seeking answers concerning a dead body which was dumped on Britta’s Vale’s land. Britta is very cool, even though she has suffered previously, she is a very strong woman.
Once Mercy has arrived at the compound, she realizes this assignment has huge risks and problems. Her contact embedded within the group, Chad, seems a bit suspicious and Mercy does not feel as if she can completely trust him. There are children in the compound who are not receiving healthcare or proper nourishment. Things soon go from bad to much worse as Mercy cannot make herself play the compliant girlfriend as she watches atrocious treatment of the people living in the group. The punishment for any disobedience is swift and extreme. I won’t post spoilers but soon Mercy is using all of her skills and endurance to survive!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
A Merciful Promise is the final book in the Mercy Kilpatrick series and would be better read as part of the series to get the feel for Mercy’s backstory. The ATF have an undercover case that only Mercy seems to have the skill set to fill. Mercy should be preparing for her wedding but instead she’s pretending to be a nurse in a militia compound looking for stolen guns. Truman is hit with a series of murders to investigate when he just wants Mercy back in his arms. Twisting and turning, the story moves from one dangerous situation to another for Mercy as she fights the bad guys and the clock to earn her HEA. Suspenseful and fast paced, the story pleases as it brings Mercy’s story to a satisfying close. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.
WOW! Mercy goes out with a bang. This is a fast paced nerve wracking action adventure that shows us just how very far Mercy has grown and thank goodness she has something to live for, to keep going for because she will be tested. This is an exciting finale to a fantastic series and I for one will miss Mercy and Truman.
4 star Review A Merciful Promise (Mercy Kilpatrick #6) by Kendra Elliot
Kendra Elliott os a new author to me. I had no idea going in to this book that it was the last book in the series. From my reading experience it would be best to read them in order.
The is a romantic suspense story and I enjoyed getting to know these characters. With fast paced action and a thrilling story line you cannot help but be drawn into the world created by Kendra Elliott.
Mercy Kilpatrick is an FBI agent who goes undercover in Oregon with a military group to find evidence and information on their plans. Not even her fiancee Eagle’s Nest police chief Truman Daly has an idea where she is or the nature of the job she is on.
Complications arise when Mercy is cut off from the outside world with only herself to depend on. Will Mercy be able keep her cover or will her truth be discovered?
I was invested in the story and couldn’t wait to see how it all panned out. The characters were strong and easy to relate too. The suspense and danger felt real and I enjoyed watching Mercy handle herself in the difficult and dangerous situations she faced.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley.
Mercy is a FBI agent who has been asked by ATF to go undercover in a militia group. She can tell no one not even her fiancé, Truman. He’s a cop and knows sometimes Mercy can’t give him details. But when dead bodies start showing up, Truman thinks they are related. Mercy is trying to find out what the group is up to and where the stolen guns are. Cam Mercy keep her cover or will she be outed and punished?
Short review but I didn’t want to give anything away. A totally edge of your seat story with action and suspense. This is the last of this series and this is the first one I’ve read. This book will keep you hooked and reading until the end.

What do you say – this was a great book and a great ending to a series . I love how Kendra Elliot in twined the teens in their ceremony. This was the best book out of the series yet. In my opinion.
THIS REVIEW IS FOR BOTH THE AUDIOBOOK AND EBOOK VERSIONS
Absolutely loved this book, perfect ending. Great action scenes and the perfect balance of emotional scenes as well. The narrator done an amazing job bringing life to this story. I definitely recommend this book. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series as well as Kendra’s other series. Excited to see what this author does next because I am sure it will be great.
This is the way to end a series! Mercy has been tasked to go undercover with a militia. She has no backup and no communication and no one, not even Trumann, knows where she is except the ATF. Unbelievable! Everything goes bad and her cover is blown. Now it is her turn to be on the run and Trumann to be hunting for her. This was so good and the narrator was perfect throughout. I was captivated from beginning to end.
Mercy and Truman are law enforcement agents. Mercy works for the FBI and Truman is local sheriff.
Love this series.
Heart poundingly great read!
OMGoodness did this one scare the pants off me! Mercy and Truman fighting the bad guys gets personal this time.
The last in the Mercy Kilpatrick series … so sad. I’ve reallly enjoyed this series and the final book did not disappoint. Highly recommend this series!
Thank you #netgalley and #montlakeromance for the eARC.
Pulse-pounding, non-stop suspense. I loved it from the first paragraph and could not put it down. Extremely well written with characters that are so real and, due to their jobs, put in extreme situations yet finding a love and need for one another that they can not deny. A beautiful HEA however I’m a bit sad that this is the last in the Mercy Kilpatrick series, they are all 5 stars. I’m a little late in the game in finding Ms. Elliot’s work but am forever grateful that I did.
I am sad to see the story of Mercy come to a close, but I thoroughly enjoyed her wild ride! During the first pages of this series, I wasn’t sure how I felt about Mercy, but Elliot did a wonderful job of developing a hard to reach character into a likeable one that will be sorely missed. I thought this was the best paced book of the series (and by best, I mean fast. I love to keep those pages turning!). Mercy was behind enemy lines with no viable route of escape, which kept a knot in your stomach with each new revelation. Although I wish we’d had more time, I glad many of the story’s conflicts came full circle, (Spoilers) particularly the reconciliation between Mercy and her father.
All in all, I own the entire series, they look beautiful on my bookshelf, and I would recommend them to most anyone. For a secular author, Elliot has kept this series fairly clean. In this particular book, there is language (which I don’t tend to notice), but the sexual content is extremely mild. That cannot be said about all of Elliot’s work, so this gets an A+ from me for my Christian friends.
This is the first book I’ve read in this series, jumping in for a book club read, and I really enjoyed it and plan to go back and start at the beginning. I listened in audiobook form, and thought the narrator did a great job as well.
I was so sad to learn that this would be the final book in this series! I’ve really enjoyed all of these reads and I can’t wait to see what the author has in store next for her readers! That being said, this book ended the series with a bang!
I really liked the fact that Mercy and Truman were apart for much of this story. It showcased the strengths and weaknesses of both characters and also conveyed just how strong the bond between the two of them really is. Mercy really shines in this book! Her upbringing is finally aligned with her career and she can use the skills that she was taught to help her navigate her assignment.
The plot was engaging, interesting, and most of all, suspenseful! I loved how it twisted, turned and seemed to surprise you at every turn! It was very difficult to put the book down for breaks!
I would highly recommend both this series and this installment of it!
Kendra Elliott is a new author to me ad when I picked up this book I had no idea it was the final book in the series and with that being said I think I would have got so much more from it if I had read the previous books. This is a romantic suspense and I really enjoyed getting to know this group of characters, it’s a well written fast paced story and I was drawn in from the first page and I will be going back and reading the previous books in this series.
The sixth and final book in the Mercy Fitzpatrick series, A Merciful Promise sees Mercy go undercover in a militia group when the ATF need some help in a hurry. Their agent is due to go in the following day and has come down with shingles, and Mercy is the only agent in the FBI or ATF who fits the bill physically. Her ‘be prepared’ philosophy makes it a no-brainer; she can think on her feet and fit in with the militia members almost seamlessly.
With Mercy completely out of contact, her fiancé Truman is at something of a loose end – at least, until the bodies start turning up. Three in all, naked males who were apparently executed at close range. When the murder cases tie back suddenly and shockingly to Mercy’s undercover operation, Truman might just be the only one who can help her.
I’ve really enjoyed this whole series, and this is an absolutely stellar final installment. Mercy is at her best when forced into survival situations and she got to really shine here. The bloated cast which got on my nerves a bit in the last couple of books is pared back here to focus primarily on Mercy and Truman, and it really works well.

I still can’t believe this is the end! The last book in the Mercy Kilpatrick series is easily the most exciting. Mercy spends most of the story undercover in an isolated and secretive community. The book flips between Mercy’s increasingly terrifying experiences and Truman investigating a string of murders back home. It’s a frightening read and as Mercy’s situation became more dangerous, I found myself racing to the end in a single sitting.
I really enjoyed Mercy in this book, but I was a little bit sad to see less of her family and friends. The interplay between Mercy and Truman in their respective jobs is usually one of my favourite elements to these stories and I really love their partnership. For most of this book, Mercy has no ability to contact anyone outside of the compound, so we don’t get as much of the family and relationship time as we usually do. We do get to know the various cult members and we get to see more of the FBI agents who are usually on the periphery of the books.
From sick kids and pregnant women without medical treatment to the disturbingly charismatic leader and his heavily armed followers, the cult Mercy infiltrates is seriously creepy. And every time I started wondering if the whole scenario was a little exaggerated, the characters would reference similar groups and scenarios from real life. From the start of the series, I’ve found the preppers, survivalists, and other isolated groups equal parts disturbing and fascinating. This final story makes these groups a central focus and it makes for riveting reading.
I’ve really loved this series. The rural Oregon setting is not something I’ve encountered in other crime series and I feel like the books introduced me to a whole new part of America that I’d never before considered. I’ve loved the characters from the start. Mercy is fabulous and the slightly hotchpotch chosen family she and Truman have cobbled together is pretty special. I also like that Mercy never compromises herself for her relationship with Truman.

I am sad that this is the end of the Mercy Kilpatrick series.
Mercy is tasked with an assignment that she has reservations about from the beginning. It is an ill-thought out plan that Mercy knows will bring back her past.
Mercy grew up in a prepper community. She knows that her assignment isn’t for that, but rather a cult. While undercover, Mercy has to decide who can be trusted and what the group is hiding. Because she’s thrown into this last minute, she’s not even sure if she can trust her own partner.
Truman, having his own job and issues arise, also knows that Mercy is in danger. He can feel it. Trying to juggle his own job and feelings of dread. Truman knows that giving up is not an option. Finding Mercy is his goal, and nothing will stop him.
I enjoyed this a lot. I do wish that Mercy’s dad had been more part of the story. We caught a glimpse of him, but I thought he would have been so much help in this story. Overall, it was a great series and I am sad to see it end.

First, I can’t believe that this is the end of the Mercy Kilpatrick series. Second, Kendra Elliot has written a story that I couldn’t help but stay up most of the night reading.
Mercy walks into this op knowing exactly what she’s up against. She’s lived with preppers her entire life. She also knows the difference between a prepper community and a cult and she fears the person in charge of this little compound has more of a god complex than he does a prepper spirit.
Truman has a bad feeling about the whole operation, he knows that Mercy is not 100% yet but he also realizes that Mercy is strong-willed and will do everything in her power to stay safe.
When the raid goes down and Mercy is nowhere to be found, Truman refuses to give up hope that Mercy is safe. He defies the FBI and hires his own search and rescue team. If there is one thing in life he knows, it’s that Mercy can survive just about anything. He just doesn’t know if he can survive without her.Reviews by the Wicked Reads Review Team
