The Wall Street Journal bestselling series continues as Mercy Kilpatrick becomes embedded in the nightmare of a terrorist conspiracy. The job: infiltrate a militia amassing illegal firearms in an isolated forest community. FBI agent Mercy Kilpatrick is the ideal candidate. She knows Oregon. She’s near the compound. And having been raised among survivalists, Mercy understands the mind-set of … understands the mind-set of fanatics. Lay low, follow rules, do nothing to sound an alarm, and relinquish all contact with the outside world. She’s ready to blend in.
As Mercy disappears into the winter hills, something just as foreboding emerges. Mercy’s fiancé, Eagle’s Nest police chief Truman Daly, is faced with a puzzling series of murders—three men dumped in random locations after execution-style shootings.
Now, for Mercy, trapped in a culture where suspicion is second nature, and betrayal is punishable to the extreme, there is no way out. No way to call for help. And as plans for a catastrophic terrorist event escalate, there may be no way to stop them. Even if Mercy dies trying.

This was one of the best series I’ve ever read. The information about “preppers” was so interesting and was incorporated so well into each book. I’m going to miss “Mercy and Truman” and only wish there was more to come.
The last of the Mercy books. Again skillfully written by Kendra Elliot. I found it was well worth reading. Once again we find Mercy and Truman following their own careers as FBI and Police Chief respectively. Mercy is sent out on a undercover assignment by the ATF. An assignment that she can’t even tell Truman, her finance, where she is or have any contact with him or anyone else. A dangerous assignment. Truman is called out repeatedly as partially clothed dead men are found in the fields, in his district and neighboring districts. They know the men were killed in the same manner but why and who would do this and who are the men? In the meantime Mercy is joining another agent deep undercover in an isolated compound of 40 or so individuals, men and women, suspected of being illegal-arms buying militia. The current agent needs help finding out what this group plans to do and where are the alleged stolen guns they are suspected of having and selling to get money.. Whispers of something big happening soon are floating around. But only the most trusted members know. The compound, run by a man who has the type of personality that others follow. Even if it means happily living in dirty, cold and scarcely supplied conditions. A man who forbids phones, communication with the outside and rules with an iron hand. If you do well and please him you get to be branded by him. If you do anything he says is illegal a second offense gets you whipped. Mercy challenges the leader from the beginning much to the dismay of her supposed boyfriend the other agent.undercover. It earns her food rations taken away for 36 hours for daring to help a sick child her first offense. When the other undercover agent gets sent on a mission away from the compound Mercy is on her own. She must find out what the ATF wants to know and get out of there. She is beginning to fear for her safety. Unfortunately before the other agent was sent away he didn’t get to show her where the only hidden communication to the outside world and the only hope of help. is hidden. When he doesn’t return she knows she’s in trouble. Has her cover been exposed? How will she get out. She sets out to find answers as quick as she can without getting caught. But way too soon things get out of hand.
I like reading about Mercy and Truman and will miss them. I hope to find their characters in future books. I thank NetGalley and Kendra for allowing me to read and review this ARC. This review is my honest opinion.
A Merciful Promise is the final book in the Mercy Kilpatrick series by Kendra Elliot and wowza talk about going out with a bang! This story engaged me right from the start and I devoured it as fast as I could with work and family. It was a nail-biting, edge of my seat, yelling at the pages kind of story.
This story was very fast-paced and jam-packed with action, suspense and finally resolution to some of the issues plaguing Mercy throughout the series. An excellent ending to one of my favorite series. I cannot wait to see what the author has in store for us next.
This is the final book in the Mercy Kilpatrick series. It can be read as a stand-alone but will benefit the reader to be read as a part of the series.
Mercy finds herself undercover, alone, and with no means of communication. The militia group she’s infiltrated is suspected of dealing arms and conspiring against the Government. They do not take lightly to outsiders and punish those who break the rules, severely. Truman is beside himself when he finds out Mercy’s assignment has went sideways and he finds himself willing to do whatever it takes to find his fiancé.
Kendra Elliot ends the series with an emotional, action packed narrative. As usual, her characters are wrought with depth and the plot line is primarily character driven. In this installment, the crime/police procedural takes a minor back seat to the emotional aspect of the characters as Elliot leads the foretelling of their futures and wraps up the storyline of the series. 4 stars.
A Merciful Promise is the last book in this author’s Mercy Kilpatrick series. I think I’ve missed two books in this series, but despite that, I haven’t been lost at all. So suffice it to say that all of these books can be read as stand alone books. I’ll be rectifying the missing books situation shortly, though!
Romantic suspense is my absolute favorite subgenre of romance. And Kendra Elliot up near the top of my automatic 1-click authors. So when I say that this book was the perfect ending to this series, I’m not kidding. Mercy and Truman have never had a typical relationship. There have been many twists and turns, and I’m not sure either one ever really believed they would get their happily ever after.
NICUnurse’s Rating: While this wasn’t my most favorite of all the Mercy Kilpatrick books, it still was a really great read. I think Ollie’s story was my favorite. In typical Kendra Elliot style, she kept me guessing until the end. And that, for me, is the highest praise I can give a romantic suspense author! Nora Roberts trained me well, lol. I give A Merciful Promise by Kendra Elliot 4.5 out of 5 stars! Grab your copy today…and don’t miss the other five Mercy Kilpatrick books, either. Now…I’m off to read the two that I’ve somehow missed!
This was a great ending to this series. I am really sad to see this series end. Mercy gets pulled into another dangerous situation. Truman is looking for a killer. Little do both know they are dealing with the same people. I loved the wedding at the end. If you have enjoyed the other books in this series you will enjoy this one also.
*I received a free copy of this book via the NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
This last book in the Mercy Kilpatrick series is a thrilling and satisfying end to a great series. It is an action packed story full of tension, danger, suspense, intrigue and emotion. Mercy is a survivor. In this story both her physical and mental survival skills are severely challenged and Truman has to face the anxiety and agony of not knowing if the women he loves is alive or dead. The authors vivid writing makes you feel the emotions the characters are going through and you experience the desperation, fear, despair and love right along with them. Even though this is a fitting end to a well written series, I will still really miss Mercy and her cobbled together family.
A heart pounding sixth adventure as F.B.I. Special Agent Mercy Kilpatrick reluctantly agrees to go undercover in a militia compound. She will assist an undercover A.T.F. agent who is already embedded in the compound, searching for information about stolen weapons and a possible terrorist attack. Things begin to go wrong shortly after Mercy arrives and there is no way to contact her fiancé, Eagle’s Nest Police Chief Truman Daly or her F.B.I. team. While Truman is concerned about Mercy’s safety, especially not knowing the what and where of her out of town assignment, he is dealing with three separate men who have been murdered. The bodies have been dumped in three separate areas, shot execution style. When authorities decide to take action against the compound, will Mercy be found alive? Once Truman realizes the danger Mercy is in, neither the F.B.I or A.T.F. will be able to keep him away from searching for Mercy. She is a strong, capable woman and agent and uses her strength of will to do what she has to do to survive. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. A MERCIFUL PROMISE. Kendra Elliott
…..Mercy.Kilpatrick book 6
Mercy FBI agent just been told she would be going undercover to an illegal arms buying militia group..The last time, she almost lost her life.No time to prepare or let anyone know. There were children involved, so she finally agreed. Truman is busy dealing with dead bodies, then a case brings him the news of where Mercy is at. Powerful, tense plot, one loves Truman and Mercy. The final book in this series will not disappoint the readers if captures you to the end. Another great series by this author,
This is the 6th and final in the Mercy Kilpatrick series so it ties up some things for the main characters. It can be read as a stand alone but is better if you have some of the background from other books to make it more smooth reading. Great characters easy to connect with them. This book took a little while to get into but once I did I found it hard to put down. The story is about and FBI agent and ATF Agent that go undercover as a couple at a Militia compound. It has a bit of everything suspense, murder and mayhem quick moving more of a reality story as you can relate to the goings on.
A Spectacular Suspense .
I really enjoyed reading this story .
I’m sad to see this outstanding series end . I look forward to reading the next series from Kendra Elliot . This story is action packed and off the chart Suspenseful . I read it straight through till the end it’s so good . Mercy goes undercover into a militia/cult and most of these people are absolutely psychopaths or brain washed . I was on the edge of my seat with all the twists and turns . The story is so unpredictable . Mercy is one strong , tough and definitely fearless woman . I think this is definitely a five star read . Truman has no communication with Mercy while she’s undercover . Soon The undercover job and Truman’s murder case are connected . Mercy is in more danger then anyone thought . This is one of the best Suspense /romance I’ve read . It’s fantastically written just all out amazing . I highly recommend taking the time to read . A favorite of 2019 .
FBI Special Agent Mercy Kilpatrick has found herself in some tight spots in the past but this time her situation is defintely deadly. It all started when she was called into the office of her boss and was introduced to two ATF agents. They were desperate for help. When they told her the job was going undercover into a secluded group they thought had stolen a lot of guns from an ATF facility she said, “NO” loud and clear. She nearly died the last time she dealt with a militia group. Of course, Mercy is talked into it! This was a very tough situation – no contact with the outside world except the agent already in-place had a hidden satellite phone. Mercy is pretending to be the agent-in-place’s girlfriend, a nurse who will be beneficial to the community, submissive and ready to dedicate herself to the cause. Mercy Kilpatrick submissive? No way! That’s not Mercy and she manages to “rock the boat” her first day in the compound. Not good! She is being watched closely now. How is she going to discover the “Big Plan” this group, America’s Preserve has hatched?
A Merciful Promise by Kendra Elliot is the sixth book in her Mercy Kilpatrick series. Alas it is the last book in the series. Mercy comes from a “prepper” family and has a unique background and strength of character. I have totallly enjoyed this series and this last book continues the suspense and twists and turns perpetrated throughout the entire series. This story is full of action and emotional moments too. Mercy’s fiance Eagle’s Nest Police Chief Truman Daly plays a major role in this book. His love for Mercy is strong throughout. They make the perfect couple and I am very glad they get their HEA. I highly recommend this book!
Mercy goes undercover in a remote militia/cult community to find and stop a terrorist plot. Truman is left with no way to communicate or even know where she is. Bodies start getting dumped and Truman is trying to connect the dots.I can’t believe this is the last book in this series. I’m going to miss them so much. This book was super fast paced. Lots of nail biting, edge of your seat suspense. I’m very happy with the way the series ended just sad to see them go.I know Ms Elliot will come up with another great series to read in the future. She never disappoints.
First, I have to say that I’m so sad that this is the last book in the series! I have so enjoyed following Mercy Kilpatrick’s story. While I’ve really liked all of the books in the series, this was my favorite. Without going into too much detail (no spoilers!), I’ll just say that it brought to a conclusion some outstanding questions that I had and I really liked how the author concluded both this book and this series.
This was a fast-paced book that kept me on the edge of my seat, while also blending some of the softer, more personal, aspects of Mercy’s life – especially her relationship with her family and her blossoming relationship with Truman.
Thank you to Montlake Romance and NetGalley for providing a copy for review.
This last book was not how I was anticipating Mercy’s journey coming to an end but it wrapped up the series nicely and had a satisfying conclusion. As always, this final installment of Elliot’s Mercy Kilpatrick Series was gripping and a page-turner from start to finish. When I first picked up my Kindle and opened this story, I had planned on just reading a few chapters then picking it up the next evening to finish but I ended up staying up half the night and read it in its entirety. I was just unable to put it down to go to bed. I kept saying ‘just one more chapter’ or ‘oh, I need to see real quick what happens next here’ and it just kept going and going until I was on the last page around 2:30 am. The last few chapters of the book were really intense with a harrowing experience for Mercy, as well as an emotionally heightened one for Truman so I just could not stop; I had to know the outcome. With the story being told from both Mercy and Truman’s POV’s it provided a stronger connection to the characters and their emotional states and interactions and I enjoyed the way Elliot connected both their investigations towards the end. It was also nice to see all the loose ends carried throughout the series tied up. The book was well-written, well-paced, intense and suspenseful with an interesting storyline and engaging characters. I would definitely recommend the Mercy Kilpatrick Series to any suspense, mystery, crime/thriller reader.
*Thank you to the publisher for the advanced copy I received via NetGalley. I have voluntarily read and reviewed this book and I am providing my honest review.
Being honest up front, I love Kendra Elliot and I love everything she does. This series pulled me every which way from book 1. I highly recommend reading them in order. You learn the back ground, watch the growth and along the way become their friends, and invested. Thank you Montlake, NetGalley and Kendra Elliot for this Arc. My heart is still tripping with the intrigue, the suspense and the depth of Truman’s love. There is brutality which is is real in the world, there is family, dysfunctional and trying. When Truman takes her dad to task I was right there yelling go Truman! I wanted to see Eden and her mom in their conclusion. I did have sniffles and tears as Mercy made peace in heart and her and Truman step out into their lives with their version of family and I am holding on to the words that Kendra wrote we could see them pop up down the road as secondary characters. Please on please yes. I voluntarily leave this review, all thoughts and opinions are my own. I need to go reread, I miss them already.
The final book in the series has Mercy Kilpatrick having to go undercover in a segregated community that borders on being a fanatical cult.
There are many things about being a survivalist that Mercy still embraces but how this leader runs his community and treats the women and children is the one of things Mercy despised about her upbringing. Having to play subservient is tough for the strong and independent FBI agent. And it’s even tougher for her when she is just months away from marrying police chief Truman Daly whom she could not tell where she was going or how long she would be gone for.
I remember starting the first book in the series wary of a heroine like Mercy because of her background. But it only took till the end of that book to fall in love with her and her man Truman and the rest of the series. It’s always sad when a series ends but it at least ends very satisfying. Looking forward to whatever comes next from this author.
