It takes a certain amount of darkness to be aware of the light. The quiet, small town of Higbee is the perfect place to see the upcoming Northern Lights. People from all over the country are flocking in droves to see the brilliant cosmic show as the town celebrates this remarkable event. Matthew Cole has a reputation as a respectable, hardworking business owner and he’d like to keep it that way. … like to keep it that way. In a town where the pace of change is slow, and the people are close, he brushes off questions about his love life, and gossip about when he’s going to settle down and find a wife. Matthew however, can’t bring himself to tell the town that it’s not a wife he wants.
That all changes when aspiring artist, Skye, comes to town to see the Northern Lights. Arriving ahead of his friends to find a prime spot to view the display, an accident sees him staying on Matthew’s couch. Skye’s vibrant, liberal attitude sits poorly with the reserved and conservative Matthew until the two of them find their growing bond brings feelings that could ruin everything Matthew has worked hard for.
As the time for the Northern Lights approaches, both men will have to face not only their growing feelings for one another but the consequences of choosing love.

Opposites DO attract, especially when they’re not THAT opposite…
Spoiler Alert!
Sometimes, the hardest thing is to know for yourself who you are and what you want. And because of that, some people go through their lives without really living.
Matthew had made a life for himself in Higbee, but only by doing what others expected of him and being who they expected him to be. He knew that he wanted more – that he deserved more – but lacked the will to step out of his comfort zone…because he wasn’t ready to admit to others who and what he really was.
Skye had always felt like an outsider. Even when he found an artistic community of like minded friends, he still found himself as a bit of a loner. When a trip to see a once in a lifetime event brought him to a little, out of the way New England town…little did he know what – or who – he would find there.
What happens when two people who seem to have little in common are brought together by circumstances? What will they find out about each other…and about themselves?

I really enjoyed this one. It was a bit slow in the beginning but i found it helped build up to the story and i enjoyed how both characters both came to find each other being in the same place at the same time. I enjoyed both charcters and the the chemistry that slowly built up between them making this story a bit of a slow burn. Matthew had his his true self from the people he cared about the most for years and never imagined someone like Skye showing up in his life and changing that all for him. Meeting sky helped his realized that nothing else mattered if he didnt have someone to love and if he coukdnt truly be himself in the place he called home. Mather helped Skye realize things also and sky’s life would never be the same after meeting him. Finding eachother helped both charcaters grow in many ways they didn’t realize they needed to. This was a super sweet read and I really enjoyed it over all.
This is amusing and romantic. Matthews is a closet gay, he’s also gruff, stubborn and caring. Skye is bold, daring and vulnerable. Matthew finds Skye on the side of the road, hitchhiking alone in the middle of nowhere, so he picks him up and brings him to where his friends said that they’d meet him. They are all supposed to see the Northern Lights, but his friends got a ride. Matthew thinks Skye is too out of place for his own good and tells him so. Skye insists that he’ll be fine, he has a tent and a heater. And he doesn’t think that bears eat people, he’d look it up if he had any bars. A couple of hours later and Skye is knocking on Matthews door. Matthew feels bad for him and offers him his couch until his friends get there. There’s an interest between the two, but the town is pretty old-fashioned and intolerant, so Matthew insists on keeping their distance. Skye is cute, and clumsy and Matthew finds him more appealing the longer he’s there. Which is over a week, because his friends took that long to finally meet up with him. As Matthew gets more comfortable with Skye, it gets harder to resist him, and just when he finally gives in, everything goes bad. These two are sweet and funny together and the storyline was great.

Matthew owns an orchard by the small town of Higbee. He’s in the closet because he’s afraid the people in town won’t accept him. Skye has come to Higbee to see the Northern Lights. His tent burn down and Matthew lets him stay at his place but Skye helps him in his orchard. As they get to know each other they find they have feelings for each other. Can Matthew come out for Skye? I was surprised by this story. It was written well and the characters were developed and interesting. I loved it.
An enjoyable opposites attract story with likable characters and an engaging storyline. I enjoyed following along with the MCs as they found their happy ending.

I loved the angst and how the story built between the two main characters. They both had different ways of living their lives, but in the end they each realized that without one another they felt as if a piece of their soul was missing and their lives would never be the same again. Matthew was the hard working alpha male that enjoyed being alone, while Skye was the exact opposite. The author has a very good imagination along with the talent of description and a certain magic of drawing you in to loving his stories.
Romeo Alexander writes so well and this story is no exception. He explores a possible relationship between two very different people whose paths in life have been vastly different. Is it possible for opposites to attract? Can people from very different walks fall in love and accommodate each other’s needs? I loved this story of Matthew, the rugged outdoor farmer who loves his small-town life and is deeply closeted, and Skye, the nerdy, clumsy, rather gaudy art student desperate for acceptance but boldly out. Both of them have insecurities but can they overcome those to accommodate the feelings they are experiencing for each other?

Skye met Matthew on a lonely road trying to hitch a ride to his campsite. Skye was everything that Matthew wanted and needed in his lonely life but he could not chance letting his preference show to the town he lives in. Circumstances came up and Skye went looking for other accommodations and ended up sleeping on Matthew’s sofa. In the week before the northern lights were due to arrive Skye worked with Matthew in his apple orchard to earn his keep. Slowly Matthew found that there was much more to Skye than just snark and flash and of all things love begin to develop.
