When nobody else had faith in her, he did.
Deputy Carla Frazer has been looking for a bust that will get her promoted for years. Now she has it. Catching a member of The Five red-handed should be more than enough, despite the hatred the fop of a Sheriff holds for her. Now, all she has to do is prove his guilt. His good looks, endless money and disarming charm won’t be enough to save him from … him from jail time. Not on her watch.
Pace Aterna is more of a numbers sort of guy—well, dragon. That’s why he was put in charge of Clan Aterna’s bank accounts. All of them. So when someone tries to steal them from right under his nose, he’s the logical choice to hunt them down and bring them to justice. Dragon-style justice, not human. Now, all he has to do is find the culprit. For that though, he’s going to need help. Her help. Human help.
Carla is ready to take him in, but her boss has ordered her to drop the case. Something smells fishy, and the only place she’s going to get answers…is from her prime suspect. What Carla expected to find was a seedy criminal underworld that she could take down. Instead, she’s got a hunky dragon shifter trying to claim her, a dead body, and a whole world of paranormal trouble doing its very best to kill her.
But to get to Carla, they’re going to have to go through Pace first. It’s time this number-cruncher shows his enemies that his fire burns just as hot as that of his brothers. Because nothing will stop him from being there when his mate needs him most.

Pace is the accountant for the Aterna clan, when someone tries to steal their fortune, he must find out who the stranger is. Carla is a deputy in the town of Five Peaks, she is tired of seeing the “Five” families of the mountains continue to get out of trouble by buying their way out. She is determined to find out their secrets, even if it costs her the job she loves. She is keeping her enemies close, by allowing Pace to “help” her with the case against him. Pace is using her contacts at the station to met out where the thief is hiding. Both have an agenda, hers against him, his against whomever is trying so hard to steal their wealth. Finding his mate wasn’t at all what Pace thought would happen, though now he must figure out how to tell Carla his secrets without losing her in the process. This story was much better written, i found the characters to be much more believable and likable. Again, this story had steamy sexy scenes that are to my liking with strong alpha dragons fighting for what they want and a heroine that was strong, but open minded.
This is the second in a series and is a fun read. Carla is a deputy with aspirations; Pace is a dragon with a problem. Well, two problems since Carla has her sights set on him being the culprit in a damage claim. And there’s a dog. And a bad guy. This is a light-hearted book full of fun, danger, mystical beasts and love. Read it! It’s what you need right now!
This is the second book in the Dragons of Mount Aterna Series. If you like paranormal romances you’ll enjoy this dragon shifter. Intense and full of action, this book will grab your attention right at the beginning and keep it. Carla and Pace will grab your heart and pull you into their world. Their chemistry is explosive. A good story that I read as an arc via Bad Boy Update and voluntarily chose to review.
Carla is a cop. When she first meets Pace she arrests him. Doesn’t help that he is gorgeous, but he has a secret of some sort and she is determined to find out just what it is. Secrets. A hacker. Treasure. Murder. A mongrel of a sheriff. A doggy. And attraction. Fantastic story and I loved it.
I received this ARC from Bad Boy Update. I’m loving Riley’s latest series! Carla has worked her ass of to become a deputy and is stuck where she is until she can prove herself to the crusty old sheriff. Pace is in charge on the money/number for his clan and on a trip to their bank he finds out someone has been trying to access their accounts. They have all been hyper vigilant after what happened to his brother and now Pace has proof that there is more going on than they thought. While chasing the guy he manages to put a rather large hole into a building, a building that Carla just happens to be near. Carla knows that if she can prove one of the Five Families is up to no good she will get her promotion. Of course, nothing is as it seems with Pace and soon they end up teaming up to find this missing man. The more time they spend together they more they notice the pull between them. I love this latest drama for Clan Alterna and the spark they share that literally turns to flames!! I can’t wait for the next one!
When Deputy Carla catches Pace Aetna in the storefront that’s undergoing renovations and has just now suffered severe damage, she figures the sheriff will have to promote her now! She has caught one of the members of the rich five families that live on the five peaks surrounding her town Five Peaks red-handed. He won’t buy his way out of this! Imagine her surprise when the sheriff tells her to let him go and give the owners his contact info. She’s even more surprised a couple of days later when Pace asks to be her partner in finding the guilty party. This book has much great action as the plot brings them in repeated contact with an evil fire dragon shifter and Carla learns that Pace is also a dragon shifter and she is his mate–all within one week’s time!
Carla is a cop and she is good at her job, but her sheriff is a jerk.
When she sees Pace after he had a fight with another men and arrests him, the sheriff says she has to let him go, because he is from a special family.
Carla can’t let it go and keeps on investigating it. It brings Pace and the troubles of his back in her life.
She knows he has a secret, but will he share it with her?
And will they catch the bad guy?
Great read with action, romance, steaming hot moments and fun.
This action packed story was well written with characters that were so well detailed that I was hooked to my kindle until the turn of the very last page!
