When the cynic… Fredi doesn’t believe in love. She might be a successful bridal gown designer but that’s just business. Sure, she’s watched her three best girlfriends fall head over heels with the men of their dreams but she’s certain that’s not in the cards for her. That doesn’t mean that she’s not interested in some fun with a handsome movie star–one who just happens to be her assigned date … happens to be her assigned date for her best friend’s wedding in Monaco.
Meets the movie star…
Zayn’s used to women falling at his feet so he’s utterly captivated by Fredi’s quick wit and her refusal to be impressed by him. Their chemistry is off the charts and their connection is something unexpected.
Sparks are about to fly…
With only a few days before Fredi disappears back to her life, Zayn is determined to convince her that she can trust him with the one thing she swore to never give anyone-her heart.

What a fun book! This is the fourth in a series about four friends who take short vacations or weekends away to fun loving cities like San Francisco, Nashville and Vegas. During each trip one of the friends meets the man of her dreams. This fourth book takes the friends out of the U.S. and to Monaco, where one of the friends is getting married. The story centers around Fredi, the only friend who hasn’t yet met her man. Fredi is cynical about love in general and doesn’t believe in romance. Rather ironic, since she is a wedding dress designer! She meets Zayn, one of the groomsmen in the wedding. Zayn is European, sophisticated, wealthy and charming. He’s also a famous European actor. He’s intrigued by Fredi because she isn’t full of pretense like so many of the women he meets as an actor. He romances her, showing her the beauty of the Côte d’Azur aboard his yacht. They hit it off, but Fredi wonders if this could be anything more than a holiday romance.
The book is a lighthearted, fun read that’s perfect for vacation reading or even just a rainy weekend when you want to just relax with a good book and escape to an exotic place.
Fredi is a wedding dress designer who is cynical about love. She has watched as her three besties, Ava, Bonni and Celia met the men of their dreams and fell in love. It was not for her. She opens her mail and gets an invitation to her friend Bonni’s wedding in Monaco. She also finds out that she is being paired up in the wedding party with European actor Zayn Phoenix, a big screen heartthrob. Zayn has heard about Fredi and becomes interested in her. Before they actually meet, Zayn e-mails Fredi and gets to know her. Once they meet, a spark fires even though Fredi tries to put it out. But Zayn is on to her. He begins to woo her and soon she falls.
I really loved this book. This is the fourth book in the series and I am sorry to see it end. I loved all of the ladies. Their friendship resonates throughout the series as they navigate their relationships. The men are kind and loving as well as patient and take into consideration the friendship between the ladies. This is a great story. I look forward to more from this author.
I love that this book takes place in Monaco. I’ve been there twice and I loved visiting there. It’s such a pretty, extravagant and somehow magical place. I can easily picture a romance taken place there. So when I was reading this book I was totally imagining myself walking through the streets I’ve actually walked before. (Although I haven’t been to the expensive stores like Prada etc.) And it was fun to actually spend time on one of the enormous boats I’ve been seeing there.. if only in my mind. LOL!
Since Fredi’s story is the last one in the series, I was really looking forward to reading about her and to find out how the one who doesn’t believe in love finally finds love herself. Unfortunately I didn’t like this story as much as I did the previous three. It was still a nice read, but I just didn’t feel their romance as much as the previous ones. Maybe because in this book Fredi and Zayn already have been talking for months, and we start the story right before they meet. I somehow felt like I missed something because of that.
Zayn’s character was fun, but I felt like I didn’t know him as much as I did the other guys in the series. I did love how much he cared for Fredi, and was working really hard to make Fredi see that they belonged together. I just wished we would have gotten to know him a little more.
That being said, I loved reading about the wedding of Bonni and Quinn. It’s so fun to keep reading about these romances throughout the series. And although I’m sad the series has come to an end, I definitely enjoyed every moment of reading about these four girlfriends.
A Match made in Monaco by Shana Gray a five-star read that will make any weekend perfect. This is number four in the Girls Weekend away series, but they can be read as stand-alone, each one tells us the story of a different friend. Where will we go next? All four friends now have someone, I’m feeling bereft. Fredi is such a strong woman, any man would be lucky to have her, even if she doesn’t think she needs one. Zayn will sweep you up in the romance and have you dreaming of Monaco. If you like your romance sweet and funny, you won’t go wrong with this one. Shana Gray has a great way with words and will make you smile and dream of dresses and places far away.
This is the 4th installment in Shana Gray’s Girls Weekend Trip Series. Fredi, the sceptic and firecracker of the group has finally met her match. Zayn is a movie star and a friend of Quinn’s who falls for her the first time they are introduced. It’s another madcap couple of days when the final girlfriend takes the tumble and falls in love despite all her protestations against the state.
A Match Made in Monaco (Girls Weekend Away) was a super enjoyable book. This is the first Shana Gray book I’ve read and I’m impressed. I loved both Fredi and Zayn and their witty, laugh out loud back and forth banter. I’m really looking forward the next installment in the series.
