The first time somebody tried to kill him was an accident. The second time was deliberate. Now Paul Mulchrone finds himself on the run with nobody to turn to except a nurse who has read one-too-many crime novels and a renegade copper with a penchant for violence. Together they must solve one of the most notorious crimes in Irish history . . . . . . or else they’ll be history. A Man With One of … history.
A Man With One of Those Faces is the first book in Caimh McDonnell’s Dublin Trilogy, which melds fast-paced action with a distinctly Irish acerbic wit.

I’m of Irish descent but know very little about the life there. The book was particularly interesting to me for that reason. The mystery was pretty good although i generally don’t look for suspense or violence in my bedtime reading.
Enjoyable easy to read book that keeps you guessing.
This was an interesting story. I continued to read it because I am very familiar with the setting and because the protagonist grows in strength, ability and responsibility with the story. Otherwise I would not enjoy a story about someone who basically has nothing and aspires to nothing.
Enjoyable!
So much fun I had to read the rest of the trilogy.
Hapless, but not helpless, the characters are genuinely interesting and funny.
Very funny. Great characters.
It just did not grab my attention and keep it. There was in interesting set up in the beginning, but our “hero” is repeatedly too simultaneously feckless and unscrupulous to maintain a level of caring about his fate. At about 75% of the way through I set it aside waiting until I might be more “in the mood” for it, and three books later I’m still not there.
This is one book of a four book of the Dublin Trilogy. After Book 2, he wrote a prequel – like Star wars. Read it first. It is sharp of Irish wit and banter that will have the reader laughing out loud.
Very entertaining great read
For me it was to slow and the characters were not interesting enough.
The first of a 4-part (sic) trilogy that is strange, captivating and unpredictable. Really makes you want to read what else the author has done and that’s rare for me. The characters are unique. The next books only get better
I found myself laughing out loud more than once while reading this book. What a fun read! Main character Paul is such a loser: nobody cares for him or even likes him much ; he’s sort of like , well, a nobody with an entirely forgettable face and personality. We meet him as he fakes visits to nursing home patients in atonement for some past sins. Imagine his surprise when one of the elderly comes at him with a knife and tries to kill him. Paul is wounded and is helped by one of the nurses, but as they sort things out in the room they realize the patient is dead, probably of a heart attack. Now what? And , subsequently, why is someone now trying to kill Paul and the nurse? It’s wonderfully disconnected, confusing, and yet hilariously entertaining , almost like a Stephanie Plum novel. Good fun. Enjoy!
I enjoyed the characters, especially Bunny.
I had a little trouble getting started but once I got into it I thought it was great!
I loved this book and look forward to reading more of his writing. He’s funny, droll, typical Irish wit. Found myself laughing out loud even when the good guys were in dire situations. Its a good thriller written tongue in cheek. Brighten up your day and give this a whirl.
A strange book but extremely enjoyable. Too violent to be a comedy but too funny to be a thriller. It was a great read and won’t be the last time I choose this author.
Kind of fun at a YA level.
Just wasn’t my cup of tea.
If you liked Chinatown, and are interested in the machinations of real estate and politicians, along with a very nice guy bored out of his gourd who learns that he has a lot more going for him that he ever thought, you’ll love this book.
As I started reading it, I realized I’d read it before, but I enjoyed it just as much the second time around. That’s a rare thing for me.
