A few Gems Amongst the Duds…

I love a good, sexy, story short. They are great palate cleansers in-between the full-length, darker novels I frequent. And Flora Ferrari is an author who has turned writing quick and easy, insta-everything novellas into a smut filled art form. Her, “A Man Who Knows What He Wants” series is a GIANT 160 plus installment serial full of fanciful, obsessive, possessive, insta-love. This series contains a staggering array of stories. And while some are definitely better than others, all are sure to make you tingle in all the right places (even though some will definitely having you rolling your eyes).

And now, Ferrari has blessed us all with boxed sets of her little lovelies, parsed out in delicious ten book sets. With this one being her second box set containing series books 11 – 20 (Policed, Driven, Lucky 13, Lumberjacked, Protector, Carpenter, Italian Stallion, Gardener, Budapest Billionaire’s Virgin, and Billionaire’s Babysitter).

Overall, this collection isn’t as good as the first. The stories contained in this one are a bit tamer, often more far fetched, and frequently flat plot wise. Below are abbreviated reviews of each book, along with my star rating for each:

“Policed”, is the story of Scarlett, a nineteen year old film student. And the womanizing, Chase, a thirty-five year old police detective who is also best friends with Scarlett’s father. They meet accidentally while he’s undercover in a seedy bar she’s drinking at researching screenplay characters. What follows in an over-the-top, makes no sense series of events, all of them ridiculous and bad. Probably the worst story I’ve read in this series yet ().

“Driven”, the story of Gage and Erica. Gage being a high profile, formula one driver, known for his good looks and winning ways both on and off the track. And Erica, the twenty year old daughter of Gage’s crew leader and best friend Dave. A woman with racing in her blood, and a determination to be successful in this male dominated world. Together, their story takes you on a journey unlike any other Ferrari has written. This one blew me away and is my absolute favorite in this collection ().

“Lucky 13”, the tale of Dylan and Addison, and what could have been a cute Navy SEAL/older man/younger woman/daughter’s best friend, forbidden insta-love story. That is if it were not for the incredibly over-the-top cheese factor present in the first few chapters. It redeems itself a bit toward the end, but for the most part this Vegas themed short is as silly as a red speedo on a horse ()

“Lumberjacked”, the silly, bordering on corny, story of Jack and Diane. He, her father’s best friend and sixth generation lumberjack with a floundering family business. She, a college senior back home after financial woes has her in need of a job. What follows is a fairly tame, pun filled, humor filled tale of insta-everything. Not the greatest story in the group, but good for a laugh or two ().

“Protector”, is a suspense riddled, navy SEAL spy thriller on steroids. And for a short story this one felt far too long. The tale of Jax and Kate. He, forcibly retired after being injured on an op. Her a seemingly kind and straightforward single Mom with a dangerous ex. However, you are very quickly thrust into the way to thick vat of “not all is as it appears” gunk that for me, often didn’t make sense and dragged this story into boredom-ville ().

“Carpenter” is an older man, younger woman, daughter of my childhood best friend insta-love tale with a hippie, surfer dude twist. A sweet, but tame story by Ferrari standards, of Christian and Avery. He a zen loving artist with a passion for woodworking. She a smart and straightforward business woman working hard to achieve her goals. And when his craft meets her savvy, their worlds ignite. ()

“Italian Stallion” is another of Ferrari’s trademark, older man/younger woman/daughter of my best friend story. The lusciously romantic tale of Roman and Lisa. He a perfect alpha specimen of old world Italian cinema leading man. She a college senior exploring europe looking for adventure. What follows is a gorgeous vision of insta-everything that is more heartfelt than most others in this collection despite a bit of cheesy, stereotypical dialogue ().

“Gardener” If there’s such a thing as a Ferrari story that’s too quick, too far fetched and out there, this one certainly fits. This older man/younger woman, military themed, Dad’s best friend, almost everything but the kitchen sink mashup is so fast paced you’ll blink and be lost. The silly and superficial story of Duke, a newly retired Navy SEAL. And Daisy, the sheltered daughter of Duke’s SEAL team member and best friend. Goes from zero to a thousand but never really gets off the ground ().

“Budapest Billionaire’s Virgin” is another dreamy, older man/younger woman tale of taboo-ish love. A bit of a hybrid mashup of sorts with a tiny seed of darkly rich yumminess featuring Tamas and Audrey. He being a renaissance advertising tycoon and dominating alpha male. And she being an innocent yet driven twenty-one year old daughter of Tamas’ best friend Adam, who sends Audrey to Budapest to intern under Tamas at the European branch of their company. What follows is a slow and more serious tale of bonding in all ways ().

“Billionaire’s Babysitter” is an interesting, albeit not fully accurate in title, tale of Cole and Anna. Cole being a hugely successful finance wizard whose life is turned upside down when his brother and his wife are killed in action leaving him as guardian to his 5 year old nephew. And Anna, a recent business school graduate dealing with the stark realities of getting at job in her field. Both unexpectedly thrust together when little nephew Benjamin runs Anna down with his bike and she doles out a bit of much needed discipline. Overall it’s cute and the most mild mannered tale in the bunch ().

Again there’s a few luscious and lively shorts in this collection, but overall it’s not the best Ferrari has to offer.

This box set includes the book 11-20 from Flora and includes the books Policed, Driven, Lucky 13, Lumberjacked, Protector, Carpenter, Italian Stallion, Gardener, Budapest Billionaire’s s Virgin and Billionaire’;s Babysitter. – I haven’t read books 1 through 10 but each is a stand alone _ just similar in the type of romance. I loved Policed the most – they are a quick read and very entertaining. Chase is an older cop who works undercover and is happy being a single guy with no commitments until he sees his friends daughter at a bar one night. Scarlett is a college student who always had a crush on Chase and uses the excuse of research for a course to get close to him and make him hers. Fantastic value, entertaining read.

All stories are about an older man with a younger woman. Even though you would think this is going to be bored, they are great stories to read. Delicious love stories filled with well-defined sex scenes, always an HEA. A must for every reader who likes a little over-the-top protective men and women who don’t let themselves go and go for what they want

Each story from this box set is a wonderful read from the very beginning. I was captivated by this box set and continuously found myself drawn to the characters. Nice plots and easy to follow. The characters had such chemistry that you could feel the sparks. In true Flora Ferrari form the characters and their personalities are unique with qualities and traits that balance out perfectly. The chemistry between the main characters is sizzling. I loved they way they came together so smoothly. The scenes are so graphic and vivid it’s easy to picture each scenario as it plays off one another beautifully. Flora Ferrari did an excellent job bringing these stories to life flawlessly.

This is a collection of insta-love stories, something which our author has a lot of experience writing and writing well.. Both our hero and heroine know what they want and they always go for it with single minded determination. Along the way there will be a few roadblocks (including the usual “wait until daddy finds out”), but when both parties want the same thing, nothing can stand in their way. Ten different stories with ten different settings and characters provides plenty of variety and entertainment.

Highly recommended.

Ten more great reads from this author’s early years. If you know this author, then you know they’re short, hot, and fun. My favorite to this day will always be Gardener. It has all the heat you can handle. Daisy’s friend Dawna has so many one liners I had to hold my sides. Daisy’s grandma is as priceless as her advice! Daisy’s dad comes around eventually to accept what fate has dained to be, but not before he makes his displeasure well known. The connection and chemistry between Daisy and Duke is palpable and undeniable. This one left it’s mark on my heart forever!

In this set we get books 11-20. Which means we get 9 more insta-love stories from this amazing author. Each of these stories have couples that realize from the very beginning that they want one another. That doesn’t mean that everything will work out instantly for them. Each of these couples need to decide what and who they are going to fight for. Example is my review from the first book Policed: n this book we meet Scarlett Smith and Chase Justice. Scarlett is in college studying for her degree in screen writing. This is her dream little did she know that while working on one of her assignments she would find another dream. The man she wants to be hers in every way. Chase is on an undercover assignment that has taken him 3 months to gather the evidence on a man. On the night he can finally end this case and take this man off the streets for good he sees Scarlett. He knows he shouldn’t go near her but there is something about her that draws him in and it is not just because she is his best friends daughter. Will these two get a HEA or will the fact that Scarlett’s dad is Chase’s best friend make that a wishful dream only? Will all these couples get their HEA or will something or someone make sure that never happens?

This brings 9 of this authors amazing stories into one place. Each of these stories does have its ups and downs I really want to tell you about. However I don’t want to ruin any of them for any other readers. I will say you will be hooked from the very beginning and not want to let go after the very last story. I would highly recommend this set to anyone and everyone.
