I found the main characters truly unlikable. The main female character was a slut who had sex with married men. The main male character was an indecisive wimp who couldn’t leave a wife that needed to be kicked out. I couldn’t finish this book because I hated the characters so much.
A strange book I couldn’t get into it sorry
The book was very slow paced and could not hold my attention. I stopped reading at about 35%.
The book nicely focuses on human emotions and relationships rather than on complex plot. Kind of like an Anne Tyler approach. It highlights the impact that the emotionally ill can have on their families. The man in this novel who walks into the hardware store has a wife who won’t leave the house, and the hardware store owner had an abusive father. They come to understand and support each other.
I almost didn’t read the whole book. It was odd and unsettling.
a pretty strange read. It certainly isn’t my favorite, but not the worst, either. I did like that the end was a bit uplifting.
Real life teality. Kinda depressing overall. Not the type of book I usually read. I did finish it though. Sad storyline.
Incredibly sad. It does haunt you due to the overwhelming sadness of the characters
So very boring. Predictable, badly written. I couldn’t even finish it.
Pretty poor, after the first 50 page I was skip reading hoping to find something that would grab me. Didn’t even finish the book
confusing
This book may be fine for some people, but not for me. I stopped reading at after maybe 30 minutes.
Not the best book I have ever read, but not the worst.
This book was so strange and boring I gave up reading it half way through.
It kept my interest enough to finish reading it. It had some unusual story lines but just an okay book.
Started out with promise but took an abrupt wrong turn about two thirds of the way into the story. Could have been so much more.
This book was weird, I finished it but didn’t really like it.
Weird
This book was easy to read, I finished it in a day but that’s really the only good thing I can say about it. Renee’s secret was pretty easy to guess. Terry’s took me a little longer and all it took was one scene in the hardware store. I wouldn’t have called either of these two characters a ‘lost soul’. More like damaged. 96% of the reviews on Amazon are 5 star, can’t agree with that. The author is a screen writer and there isn’t a lot of detail into the settings or characters. Maybe because screen writing becomes a visual medium and the details are shown not told. Could have been better; having said that it’s better than anything I could ever do so I’ll give him credit for trying.
