So Gooood!
I loved this book from the first word! A mix between inspirational, suspense and a Great western made for the best book I’ve read in a long time.
Different spin on the mail order bride. loved the story line of the competition continuing to the town of the groom!
A Mail-Order Heart by Janelle Daniels was entertaining and a short read. The author did a great job in defining the characters. The book involves a gold miner, Ivan, who corresponded with nine women for a mail-order bride. The twist is the nine woman didn’t know about each other. All nine women arrived by train on the same day only to find out that Ivan had died. The sheriff arrived at the train station to find nine women with different backgrounds and personalities arguing with each other over Ivan. The Mayor decided the nine women would live in Ivan’s house for safety reasons and they all owned Ivan’s gold mine. They were given the choice of staying and learning how to mine gold or leave or to be courted by the decent eligible men. From here on the story gets interesting. I recommend reading this book to learn of the women’s trials and tribulations of what life is like in a gold mining town full of single men. You won’t be disappointed.
its interesting and i need news
Easy reading
Suprising story line. Enjoyable.
Cute but too much passionate unnecessary kissing and descriptions. May be how people live but don’t want to read it.
A great read
A great mail order bride western romance.
I’m hooked on these books. I’ve got to pray for a way to buy them all. lol Honestly, they’re great. Although short, the storyline is good and so are the characters. What makes them special is the writing. Janelle Daniels writes in such a way that the story comes to life. If you enjoy historical western romance, I recommend this to you.
KU. This was an OK read. Nothing spectacular, nothing horrible. More of a novella in terms of both length (2 hrs to read) and lack of character/plot development, but nothing horrible and the editing seemed to be adequate (though I do remember a few typos/poor phrasing). Borrowed via KU, so not bad. The premise is fun and maybe it suffers from first book world building and subsequent books will be better, though I’m not sure I’m inclined to continue given how stacked my TBR shelf is. Romance is sweet. The most the characters do is kiss and make a few internal dialogue comments about appreciating the other MC’s looks.
She will get you hooked on this series’s!
An interesting premise, very reminiscent of the 1960’s show The Brides. I love watching reruns of that show; I only wish I could say the same about this book.
The omniscient POV is great for stories like this, and I love how the women are anything but weak. By introducing all the female characters in the series there wasn’t character development. All I can really tell you about the two main characters in this book is that she came from a large family in New York City and he used to be a miner but is now the sheriff. Too often I found myself wondering why a character would behave the way he did.
The plot, as I said is okay; I haven’t read enough western romances to say for certain that it was solid or an overused premise. Daniels doesn’t trust her readers enough though, telling the story rather than showing. When I read something like this, I like to use my imagination to turn the book into a movie for my brain. You can’t do this with this book.
There is a fair amount of foreshadowing so you know who the main characters will be for the next book, but it’s rather clumsily done.
It’s a very quick read that doesn’t require a lot of brain work, making it perfect for reading on the train commute or waiting for your kid’s dance/gymnastics/sport practice.
Good easy book to read and enjoyable
Cute historical romance, which is a nice little break from all the sci-fi/urban fantasy/paranormal/crime thriller that I typically read. Will I continue with the series? I don’t know – maybe. Eight more stories just like this one might be a bit much for me.
A nice story. I rate it a 5
Cute little story. Easy read
Good book to read
Sometimes the best made plans do not always work out as we planned
I liked the fact that the sheriff was the one caught and wedded.
