Where do you even find a wife, anyway? Like, if you were really looking? If you’d made up your mind that what you really wanted was a solid relationship, with a woman you could trust with your life? your money? all your stuff? your heart?Ryan:I’ve never been looking to play Prince Charming in some girl’s fairy tale but maybe it would be nice to meet someone. A girl that I can stand to talk to for … stand to talk to for longer than it takes to get in her pants. A girl I want to keep around after I’ve gotten into her pants, one that I’d like to have stick around. Forever.
Kimberly:
All I ever wanted was to get married: Have a big party and be a princess for a day, but it turns out that happily ever after is a lot like team sports– girls like me just don’t get picked first.
A professional match-maker can find me a man, but planning a wedding turns out to be a lot more stressful than I’d expected.
Maybe I don’t want to play princess after all.

All she has heard about and helped out with for the past year if her BFF’s wedding. Kimberly (Kim) loves her friend dearly but this wedding stuff really makes her a bit jealous and a bit crazy. She decides to take that final step and sign up on Raven’s site. Today is the day she finally meets her future husband. Nervous isn’t the only word to describe her feelings, but all of that will soon change.
For the past year all Ryan has heard about and been living with is his bestie’s wedding, how awesome the future bride is. Not really too upset about it, but then it starts to get closer to the wedding and there are second thoughts about settling down and finding himself a wife. The whirlwind of everything has started to die down a bit, he meets her today, the process has taken a little longer than he wanted but signing up on Raven’s site has taken a lot of the work away from him. He can’t wait to meet her, he can’t wait to start something with her.
Ryan’s brother is texting some girl while he is supposed to be here for Ryan. The other members of his team, as well as his brother, really like Kim. So why is this so nerve wracking? When she starts walking towards them, he recognizes everyone from her team, so that gorgeous red haired one is her….he is completely at a loss of words. Stunned into silence….amazing. Kim is about to walk away from him as he can’t even put a sentence together. Her mom is pushing her severely about grandbabies and all. It is too much. So at this bowling alley where there is no alcohol, per Raven’s guidelines for the first date, things start a bit rough, and end a bit shakier than should be. Constant snide comments about women in general from Ryan’s brother, Kim’s mom constantly talking about the wedding and the babies….too too much. Kim asks Ryan for his phone number, and he writes it on her hand (something funny happened with her cell earlier.) When Ryan sees Kim coming out of the ladies room, he notices that the situation has turned.
After talking to one another a bit, there is a first real date. Ryan has a claiming moment and Kim likes it. After the date, this is where the two of them are about to find out what all their chemistry is all about. It is smoking hot. They fit like a glove in all the departments, especially this one. They are swept up in the tide of all the emotions, the crazy schedule with helping their friend’s wedding, and the pressure being put on them. There is a brief moment that takes place, leaving both Kim and Ryan heartbroken and hurting. But things start changing. Their friend’s give advice and now it seems even Ryan’s brother is giving advice, actually good advice. “Go and get her/him back.” As if they weren’t already thinking it, but the “snap out of it” moment sometimes is best coming from a bestie…right?!
Ryan picks the perfect time to no longer allow this to keep up. The wedding day of their friends. He searches out and finds Kim, and there is some talk, there is A LOT of passion, and there is an agreement and understanding. Healing begins and gets even hotter….oh yes, these two start hot and that never fades. Back together and well into the happily ever after stage….and all is just perfect for them. So much happens and so quickly between these two, it is filled with laughter, a twinge of tears, a bit of “what the heck are you thinking?” and a whole lot of aaawwwwws.
Loved it
Another great story from Raven Swaan’s matchmaking service. Loved Ryan’s and Kim.
Kim is helping her best friend Kay plan her wedding. Ryan is mystified by his best friend Brent and his enthusiasm for planning his up coming wedding. Kim can’t help bring jealous. She has been planning her own wedding since she was 9. Ryan wants what Brent has with Kay.
Raven pairs Ryan and Kay. Though she is Kay’s maid of honor and Ryan is Brent’s best man, they hadn’t met yet. Their first date was awkward. Away from their families they feel like they’ve know each other for ever. Pressure from their families to set a date and set up a nursery, with watching their best friends struggling through their wedding planning, have Ryan and Kim second guessing their engagement. They have only know each other a month, and maybe they were just caught up in the whirlwind that is Brent and Kay.
Sweet and steamy. Would have loved an epilogue in Vegas, with Elvis officiating and Raven and Duncan as witnesses.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book. Bought it because I loved it and will be reading again.
Arc review For honest review. Ryan and Kimberly both get together after a match maker for people who want to get married and their friends is going to throw the same but they are having second thoughts awesome
