Don’t throw your kindle…
It has a slow start but picks up fairly early and was an easy read. But dang the tension! It was hot yet frustrating. The mystery and intrigue will have you reading it in one sitting. It give you all the feels. Over all it was an enjoyable read. The wrap up is satisfying but the whole book leaves me wanting more. I need more!!! Luckily it looks like I won’t have to wait long. This was my first book by this author. I will be looking at the back list.
One beautiful Lily upon their doorstep and the world as she knows it opens up yet closes down at the same time.
She begins to see what she could never see before, and her mind radiates with a thousand and one questions all which can only be answered by him..
But who is the man who watches her, and more importantly does she really want to know..?
I feel both heartbroken yet free to breathe at the same time, what an amazing read!
This book has completely exhausted me, from my emotions to my mind!
I was a nervous wreck in parts, hoping but not wanting, needing but not getting now I know exactly how Roe felt!
Roe is such a unique character that you can’t help but both admire her courage and strength, yet at the same time want to wrap your arms around her and mother her.
Now he who’s name I shall leave blank is a different kettle of fish altogether! He’s cold and calculating whilst ruthless and most definetly detrimental to your health!
Buuuut I freaking loved him!! Not sure what that says about me as a person but hey ho I loved the mystery he provided, and his deadly aura was to die for!
I cant wait to see what happens next, I just hope my heart can take it, because right now its weeping brokenly!
I have no words!!
A Lovely Obsession is… WOW! Wonderful? Amazing? Beautiful? I actually don’t even know how to describe the emotions and feelings it brings out when reading but it’s definitely powerful!
The intensity and vulnerability in Roe and Hunters relationship is beautifully tragic to read. You feel your heart breaking for the frightened and self conscious little people still within them and want to scream at them to move forward and be brave.
What a fantastic story! I cannot wait to find out what’s to come next for them because that ending has me all tied up in knots!!
It’s my first story by the author but I wanted to read her for a long time as many friends kept recommending her books.
I didn’t know what to expect and I was in for a ride. I loved the writing, it kept me reading the whole book in one sitting and the characters are not so easy to get to know them or their intentions but that’s a big plus in my cards.
Although the end of this book is somehow settled, I need the second book asap so I can have the full love story of two broken souls that love each other like no other.
.
A Lovely Obsession is the first book in the new Debt Of Passion duet. It follows 18 year old Roe and 28 year old Hunter. Roe is an orphan being raised by her uncle, she craves the closeness of a relationship but never actually lets people in. She is also Hunter’s obsession. He’s been watching her throughout her entire life… but I won’t spoil the story with any more details about their situation.
, ’ . .
I think this is my favorite of Coralee’s books. It’s gritty and hot at the same time. I liked how Roe was both weak and strong at the same time. Although there were times where I wished she fought harder or yelled at my kindle because she was doing something stupid, but it didn’t hurt the story for me.
, .
I enjoyed the push and pull between Hunter and Roe, how he fought against himself and his feelings, and how she actually allowed herself to feel something around him.
, .
Bring on book 2! I need to see how this ends!
This is book 1 of the Debt of Passion Duet.
Wow! I loved every second of this intense emotional roller coaster. The emotions pour off of every page. You’ll hate, love and love to hate throughout the pages of this phenomenal read. He’s the devil as well as her guardian angel/protector. She’s his prettiest debt and everything he wants to hate. Their past are connected in ways that set the paths of both of their lives. When Hunter’s obsession with Roe begins to turn into something more he decides to tell Roe the entire dark truth of their past. Once that truth is out there everything changes when he decides to cut ties and walk away and let her be free…
Will she lose him forever? I can’t wait to find out in book 2, A Lovely Confession.
This book had me on the edge of my seat the entire time! I can’t wait to see what happens in book 2!
A Lovely Obsession by Coralee June is a prime example of beautiful, poetic and brutally raw and passionate writing!
The first few chapters lulled me into a false sense of security, beginning to figure out who Roe was and what made her tick and then BAM!….all hell breaks loose! From then on, I could not put this incredible piece of fiction down.
The characters are so well written that I felt I was there with them, feeling all their emotions and living their truths.
The story is fast paced, intense and absolutely enthralling! Coralee can do no wrong in my eyes, but this….this is some of her best work!
This is my first time reading anything from this author, and boy was this a great read. This is the first book in the Debt of Passion Duet, and the story of Hunter, and Roe. Roe has had a hard life, she is being raised by her Uncle, trying to get through school, and she finds out she has a stalker. This book was well written, the characters have explosive chemistry, and the story captivated, and intrigued me. This book kept me glued to the pages, and I can’t wait to continue this story in book two. This was dark, intense, dramatic, suspenseful, twisted, raw, gripping, steamy, and emotional.
My first read from this author and I wasn’t disappointed, it was a great dark read.
Hunter is an assassin, a deadly killer with a deadly obsession.
Roe! A fiercely independent teen whose life gets turned upside down when she discovers she’s a debt to be watched over by the alluring and dangerous Hunter!
An intriguing read with so many twists and turns, so many secrets to be uncovered.
I’m so excited to see what the conclusion to this duet will bring.
Reviewer: Natalie
My very first read by this author. And she has wrecked me with this story. The utter suspense alone is like an intoxicating addiction. I craved every word like my next breath. Such beautiful, intricate words flowing these pages.
Hunter is my current obsession. He’s dark, sexy asf, and so possessive. I just want to grab him out of the pages and hang on for my dear life. I so badly want to be the one that eases his torment and pain.
And Roe is bad***, right from the start. She’s got alot to work through and we’ve barely scratched the surface of it all. Hunter has become her kryptonite and there’s no going back.
I’m so excited for the next book in this duet, A Lovely Confession. Its killing me to my very core to know how it all unravels. The duet is going to be the death of me, I just know it. In a completely satisfying, masochistic sort of way though.
Holy Sh*t was this an phenomenal book! I love it! CoraLee June is a genius! She writes such amazing books and A Lovely Obsession is no exception! The relationship between Roe and Hunter is so complex, emotion filled, and confusing to them both! They are both so broken from their pasts and neither knows how to cope with being loved or how to accept love, or even how to allow themselves to love! The emotions that this book evokes are plentiful! I would highly recommend this book! I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
A Lovely Obsession is the first book in the Debt of Passion Duet series. This new series is a spin-off from the Bullets series. Which in my opinion was very worth it to read! But you don’t have to this series can be read without having read The Bullets Series. Now on to A Lovely Obsession review.
This story is Roe Palmer’s and Hunter Hammond’s story. Roe has been living with her Uncle Max for the last 8 years. Her uncle is a lie and she doesn’t even know it. Then she meets Hunter and he calls Roe his “pretty debt”. Another thing that she doesn’t know why. Her life is a lie.
To Hunter, Roe has been a debt to watch over. Now she has become an “Obsession”.
A Lovely Obsession is full of twists and turns and OMG what an ending!!! This is another book/series that I couldn’t put down by CoraLee June, she is a fairly new author to me.
I am now impatiently/patiently waiting for A Lovely Confession to come out. Which will thankfully be out soon! 4.5 stars for me.
O-M-G!!!I need book two like ASAP!! I mean everything about this book, starting page one, actually the blurb. I was like “ah dang this ones keeping me up tonight.” Hunter (so appropriately named BTW) and Roe’s story is absolutely unlike ANYTHING else out there right now. It’s dark and raw and twisted. It’s gritty and suspenseful. This book will literally take you from your gut wrenched up in knots to your stomach filled with the flutter of butterflies courtesy of our main hero Hunter.
Hunter and Roe were bound by a connection that started the day she was born. Unbeknownst to her she was Hunter’s obsession, his self imposed debt, keeping her safe was his life’s mission. So from a distance he watched, she was his “prettiest debt” after all, he would do anything and everything to keep her safe. Until one day he had to come out of the shadows.
Hunter was gorgeous, yet mysterious. He was brash and controlling and a bit rough, but immediately on the flip side gentle and caring towards Roe’s safety. He was Alpha AF and brooding. Like you get the feeling he’s this damaged broken man out to get revenge for the past, but you know inside lies a gooey chocolate center that only Roe has the ability to melt. My heart broke for this character.
“Our kiss tasted like salt and sadness.”
Roe’s character is amazing. She’s tough and smart and totally bada**, all of which I don’t think she even realizes. She’s this rare gem of a girl. She’s reserved yet wild at the same time. She’s lonely, yet has her pick of the guys if she wants. She wants more from her life but she hasn’t necessarily ever thought she would have more. When she meets Hunter it’s not under great circumstances. She calls him her “stalker.” Yet she’s intrigued by this beautifully terrifying man. He’s such a contradiction. She doesn’t know if she hates him or wants him from one minute to the next? She just suspects he’s grappling with those same conflicting emotions. What happens when outside dangers threaten her safety? Can Roe handle the truth when she finds out why Hunter has had this obsession with her for all these years? How will Roe take it when Hunter makes all decisions for both of them?
“You’re releasing me of my debt. I’m releasing you of me.”
I literally ran the gamut of emotions with this book friends. There was so much chemistry and longing between these characters. GAAHH! It was phenomenal the push and pull for so long. The fight they put up. Hells yeah!! This book is packed with suspense and angst too. I was thinking and had so many theories floating around in my head. I kept internally looking around the next corner for what was going to happen next. It was so good, I couldn’t have guessed! Then the cliffhanger and the end!! NOOO this wasn’t supposed to happen this way. Now I need book two like, well yesterday!
Hunter and Roe my heart is devastated right now.
*I voluntarily reviewed an advanced complimentary copy of this book!
– Obsession!! I’m officially Obsessed. This book was everything but more. It was so full of lies, lies, and more lies. It was full of action. All those secrets led to suspense, angst, and GAH the sex! Man the banter, blood, tears, sexual tension. All the plots for revenge, I felt like I was full of frustration! For so many things at different times. The characters are fantastic and complex and I can’t wait for more! I’m literally on edge from the end of this book!!
-OMG! HOLY FREAKIN SEVENTH CIRCLE OF HADES!! I mean like grab your book and chuck your panties at the door to avoid changing them over and over!!
Cliffhanger Warning-CLIFFHANGER! CLIFFY Your heart will not be happy at the end.
Trigger Warning-This does have gang-ish/fight scenes that are a little graphic and could be considered triggers for some. If you have concerns you can PM for more information.
I am speechless. I was on the edge of my seat reading this. There are twists and turns and the suspense and the angst had my heart beating out of my chest. I can’t wait for the second book to finish this duet because it left me with my mouth wide open.
Coralee June pushed my limits and broken all boundaries in A Lovely Obsession. A raw, gritty and provocative story that is not only dark and forbidden, it is also a power packed angsty treat. If your heart craves for deviant, heartbreaking and intense romance like my black soul, A Lovely Obsession is just perfect for you.
Roe has always protected her heart from attachments and emotions because her childhood is a messed up one. She is slowly finding her normalcy living with her uncle and going through typical high school experiences. And then she finds about her stalker. Hunter is a dangerous man and he has no limits or boundaries while it comes to protecting his Pretty Debt. He is an assassin. And he has no business caring for Roe. Then why? What dangers are hiding in shadows for Roe? Can she really begin to care and expect love from a ruthless killer?
First of all, you cannot be judgemental about this story. This is a stalker romance and it is a fiction. This is not encouraging risky or reckless behaviors by young girls in any way. Now that’s out of the way, let me tell you how fabulous the storytelling is. Roe is an angry, hurt, lonely and rebellious girl who fights for her independence every way. Her fire brightens up and attracts even the most brooding and cold guy. For example Hunter. He hates her and yet he is obsessed by her. And once he comes to know about her big heart and fierce love personally rather than watching from afar, he falls for her. They have unique chemistry. This is no sweet love story. Their bond is forged by devious lies, desperate passion and impossible caring. Are we supposed to feel for a killer? But Coralee June made me fall for this broken man. My favorite kind of moments are when a strong and sassy girl brings a ruthless, arrogant and scarred man to his knees. And it so happened here. Hate and mistrust turned into an unbreakable bond and more so after the shocking revelation at the end. Well I am not happy about the ending because THAT WAS CRUEL! And the wait will be a difficult one.
A Lovely Obsession by Coralee June took me to the most depraved and twisted side of human souls. And I am addiceted. I am fascinated. I am intrigued and completely desperate for more!
Received ARC for honest review.
What an exciting read. The storyline was excellent, the intense intrigue peaking my interest immensely and is an addictive read.
The mystery and suspense was very entertaining and very enjoyable. I was completely hooked immediately from the first chapter, the writing was terrific and I loved the characters.
I was fully invested in the outcome of the story and I’m really looking forward to more from this series. Full marks from me!
Stalker or protector? Lines are definitely blurred in A Lovely Obsession by CoraLee June but surprisingly I found that I loved everything about this story, especially Roe’s “stalker” Hunter.
Roe Palmer is not an ordinary 18 year old girl and she knows it. She’s appears to others to be a little flighty, very reckless, and emotionally distant with everyone around her. In reality, scars from her past have made her scared to really live and commitment makes her run.
One night at a party she meets a mystery stranger. Drunk and depressed, Roe quickly forgets the moment but this stranger is more than he appears to be. When her world suddenly becomes chaotic and dangerous she suddenly comes face to face with her uncle’s friend Hunter Hammond who mysteriously shows up to help protect them. But to Roe, Hunter’s protection is stifling, scary, and is rooted in as much mystery as Hunter himself. Does he exhibit stalkerish behavior? Too the extreme, but Hunter sees Roe as a debt, or as he calls her his “pretty debt”, that he has to repay. There is just something intriguing about him and I love how this story slowly teases you with the sweet side of Hunter behind his cold facade.
CoraLee June has a way of stealing your heart and mind with her words. I loved the moments where we see Roe’s true feelings within her poetry. Roe is more than a damaged girl with a damaged past. She is talented and strong, and I can’t wait to find out where she goes next.
Okay so… I’m not sure how I feel about this book. I’m impressed, confused, disappointed and yet interested in reading book two. Let me try and explain:
I read reviews, watched a trailer, and had certain expectations regarding this story. None if those were met, but it did create new expectations for book two.
How can I describe the story: I’m kind of at a loss here. Is it dark? Not really. It is a high school story (like the trailer suggested)? Nope. A gang story? Not really. A older man/younger woman? Sure. I can’t seem to place this into a nice labeled box, it has a little if everything but ultimately I would say it’s a story about two lost souls trying to find peace in each other. The rest, really doesn’t matter.
The characters: Mac was a great, loving, gruff Uncle. Roe was certainly an 18 year old with a troubled past (that was really just a young girl with major issues). She came across very immature; that was an impressive notion for me because of her back story, it was authentic. Hunter tries to be a bad alpha but loses that as he never felt tough to me; strained, confused but never bad or tough. Mrs. Sellers stole her scenes and I really wanted more of her.
The plot: this was written in first person, which I love, but was very much a tell me story with very little show me. I spent so much time inside either Roe or (to a lesser extent) Hunter’s head I felt trapped. There was also too many thoughts and actions repeated. I felt they fought about the same question for a good 60% of the book, which left me feeling like the story was flat. It did pick up near the ending but with a complete flip of personalities, I felt like I had been hit was a brick wall, it utterly confused me… But I can see how it set up a second book so I’m not all the upset with it. The steamy scenes were steamy, and it’s a slow burn.
The chemistry: wasn’t there for me. I had no connection to either character, nor did I feel their connection. Had you told me these were two strangers with physical chemistry I would have believed that.
Over all: this is a real story, I could imagine the horrors within. I liked the characters relationships, their maturity vs. age/experience, I liked some of the ideas in the plot. With the small blurb from book two and with the many positives from this book, I would like to read book two. Interesting story that both captivated my interest and left me sort of indifferent. Strange mixture but intriguing none the less.
A Lovely Obsession by CoraLee June
From the moment I read the blurb I knew I had to read this book. CoraLee is a new to me author and I have to say I’ll be looking for more from her.
From the very start I was intrigued and it kept me intrigued right up to the last page. Watching the dynamic between Hunter and Roe was fascinating to say the least. This is not an ordinary boy meets girl and they fall in love story, this is dark, this is raw and this is gritty. This will take you to the dark side of life and leave you wanting more.I now eagerly await A Lovely Confession
