A Love Song for Rebels (Rivals Book 2)
Annie Jamieson is finished with high school and has made it into Vanier Arts College in New York City! Surprise, her father Jax thinks she is attending Columbia.
Tyler Adams is now in his second year at Vanier and his ultimate goal is to get his contract back from record executive Zeke and to win the Vanier Fall Showcase, getting him the ammunition he needs with Zeke and the money he needs to get out of debt.
Both Annie and Tyler have grown in ways neither of them are aware of upon their first meeting at Vanier, both carrying baggage that they aren’t willing to share with each other, Annie is hoping to prove to her father that she is grown up enough to handle the music business and Tyler hiding his feelings about Annie because of the promise he made to Jax and the hurt he put Annie through when he left Dallas over a year ago.
What hasn’t changed is the deep connection and feelings for each other. Once that admission/truth is faced we get to watch the chemistry that has drawn them to each other for so many years draw them closer. Reading the story of these two people reconnecting, finally sharing hurts and feelings with each other and coming together for an achievement that will sky rocket one of them was heartwarming. Piper Lawson has built a beautiful love story that you hope will succeed and it builds on the happiness they are building on, until time stops…and leaves us holding on for hope in Book 3.
Piper Lawson has done it again, taken our hearts and minds hoping that Annie and Tyler’s love and commitment to each other continues.
Oh my gosh!!! I’ve just finished this book and I can’t wait for book 3!!! I liked a lot book 1 from Rivals series but I loved ‘A Love Song for Rebels’. Annie and Tyler were fun to read when they were in High School but the real deal is happening in College. They’ve grown up and know better what they want and what they don’t.
I really like how things develop in this second installment. Annie still feels insecure about her possibilities in the music industry but is determined to make it work on her own. She tries to get over Tyler and focus on her studies but all of a sudden they meet again and so many feelings and memories reappear. I don’t want to give away much of the plot but Annie and Tyler love story is being epic.
Misunderstandings, new revelations, angst, hard decisions, sacrifices, and powerful feelings. Our dearest couple is going to have to deal with all of that and more. I still love the deep connection that Annie and Tyler share from the beginning and how here goes stronger and deeper. Emotionally and physically. They’re going to have a very interesting year to say the least.
Awesome second book but I need book 3 already! <3

Can I just say how much I loved Jax Jamieson…until this series. In A Love Song for Liars, we saw Annie and Tyler going through teenage angst and high school drama. Jax made me angry but in this book I think he needs a kick in the pants!
This book starts off on the first day at a prestigious music college. Annie is a freshman and Tyler in his second year. When they run into each other on the first day, it’s so awkward you just want to cry and laugh and cheer and scream.
I love how Annie has matured and grown into a strong, woman and Tyler is just…sigh, perfectly Tyler. The way they find their way back to each other is so real and raw. Piper didn’t run the usual script here of misunderstanding coming between them. These two love each other so much, they just can’t run from the other.
The ending is a cliffhanger (and oh boy is it a doozy!) but that only makes me want book 3 more! I love all the roommates too, particularly Beck. I do hope he gets his own book someday. I couldn’t decide between reading this quickly or slowly. I had to argue with myself to put it down after a few chapters so it wouldn’t be over so quickly. Love love love this series and this author!
Book two of this series and I couldn’t be more in love with Tyler and Annie if I tried but Jax Jamieson your still on my naughty list. Piper has doubled up the drama on our newly reunited couple. I loved the addition of all the new chaacters they provide some angst but also some much needed light relief. Annie and Tyler are trying to work out their feelings for each other but also the pressure college has brought. I loved Annie’s determination to follow her heart even when it puts her at odds with her dad. Tyler sweet conflicted Tyler trying to so the right thing for everyone even if it means he doesn’t get what he desreves. I loved this second installment even if it ended too soon and on a major cliffhanger.
Tyler knew that walking out of Annie’s life was what was best even though she is his everything. The last thing that he expected was to run into her on the college campus. Annie was determined to be her own person and make it in the music business without being known as Jax Jamieson’s daughter. Once Tyler and Annie reconnect with each other their connection reignites. Annie is afraid to reopen old wounds but pushing Tyler away hurts even more. Tyler has the opportunity to win back what he lost and Annie is going to do what she can to create a happily ever after.
We continue on Tyler and Annie’s epic love story. This is a slow burn with intense chemistry that will have you fanning yourself. The ending of this book will have you on the edge of your seat waiting for book three to be released. A Love Song for Rebels is the second book in the Rivals series and must be read after book one, A Love Song for Liars.

When I finished this book my first thought was “10 stars but damn I hate Piper right now” (in the best possible way)! Absolutely phenomenal! We get to see both Annie and Tyler grow up a lot in this book with Annie becoming unapologetically herself (which I felt like she needed!). My heart hurt for Tyler at times and Piper really redeemed him from his asshole behavior from Liars. And the sexy times (after SO much waiting) are on POINT!
I legit can’t wait for Dreamers!!! There is a cliffy at the end of this one that will make you want to throw your ereader…but try to restrain yourself because I have a feeling Dreamers will be EPIC!
I told you last book–I told you!
I said to hold off calling Tyler a book boyfriend because he was still doing his certification courses, and this book is why. Welcome to A Love Song For Rebels, a place where Annie Jamieson and readers go to fall in love with a fully certified Book Boyfriend: Tyler Adams.
ALSFR is book two in a three-book series, so if you haven’t read book one, A Love Song for Liars, you shouldn’t be reading this review. Don’t pass go, don’t collect two-hundred dollars, do one-click book one, and start at the beginning.
At the end of A Love Song For Liars, Annie decided to go against her father’s wishes and audition at Vanier Performance School instead of going to Columbia. And as she passes a practice room, she spies the boy who ran away from her and broke her heart for the ninty-gabillion-millionth time. That is a real number; Google it–don’t do that I made it up.
Come book two Annie is living her highlie-fe (lie + life = lie-fe) at Vanier where she wakes up every day and goes to school but tells her dad she’s at Columbia. Her mentor is none other than Tyler’s roommate, and you can imagine how long it lasts before those two stop resisting one another–hot stuff. HOT STUFF. They steamed up my Kindle, and I shamed it for flickering on and off, but then realized it was the low battery optimization screen dimmer. I am still thinking it might have been the sexy scene scandalizing it, though, because this book is everything the last book was missing.
BUT! You will hate the cliffhanger. Really, Piper Lawson!? No one likes an overachiever! You don’t need to do us dirty to hook us; we are already on the line! Another month to see how it all ends. Biting my nails to the quick. Eek!

——————————————————-
Just when I thought the cliffhanger from A Love Song For Liars couldn’t be topped, WRONG. Good lord Piper, you’re trying to give a girl a heart attack! This book starts about a year or two after the first book ends. The time jump makes all the sense in the world and Piper is excellent about filling any missing gaps in.
–
Well, I still have a girl crush on Annie, she just gets better and better. Daddy Jax doesn’t know that our girl picked Vanier over Columbia which just adds some extra tension. Annie has got some serious courage, it’s beautiful. Her compassion and selflessness never ceases to amaze me. I absolutely adore how she feels about Tyler, it seriously gets me all in my feels.
–
So Tyler is definitely an adult now and I still have the biggest crush on him. The moments he has with all the characters in this book just melt me. I seriously love everything about him, he gives off some Jax vibes but also brings so many more layers to this story. Tyler is EVERYTHING, normally I would cringe at being serenaded but the idea of Tyler doing it seems pretty appealing y’all.
–
The way Piper writes is phenomenal, I sit down to read for a little bit and before I know it I am already over 50% into the book. I obviously reach the point of no return and devour the book in one sitting. Annie and Tyler is Piper’s best work hands down. I am absolutely OBSESSED. I am still shook over the cliffhanger and I need A Love Song for Dreamers like yesterday. Seriously y’all, this series is SO. DAMN. GOOD.
Oh boy Piper knows how to write a cliffy! It’s so worth it though, and I can’t WAIT to see how Annie and Tyler’s story ends!
A Love Song for Rebels picks up after that incredible, tension-filled end of A Love Song for Liars. Annie has made a decision to pursue her dreams, her dad’s opinion be damned. Tyler’s on track to see his through too, though he hit a bit of a detour when a family tragedy struck. The last thing he expects is to run into the girl he left behind because he didn’t think he deserved her. Annie has changed though. She’s hardened from heartbreak, and Tyler is more drawn to her than ever. And though Annie tries to deny her feelings for Tyler, solely focused on her own ambitions, they come crashing together in a spectacular, HOT AF way! Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! Whew!
I love the growth of these two characters and I love love the clear devotion. We meet a few new characters that add depth to the story, and we get frustrated by some old favorites. I’m on pins and needles to see how this is going to play out! I said it last time and I will say it again…NEW ADULT CRACK! 5 delicious, anxious stars for A Love Song for Rebels!
This book catches up with Tyler and Annie as they have both moved away from her hometown, and are out to make a name for theirselves. Throughout the book we are given glimpses into the struggles that both Annie, and Tyler have gone through during their time apart.
They are both at a new school, navigating being on their own, pursueing their careers, and learning just how much they are drawn to each other. Fate keeps throwing them together even when it seems to want them to be a part.
This book continues to not only develop the main characters, but we meet some fantastic secondary characters that I have fallen in love with. I am excited to see what happens in the next book!
When I read the first book in this trilogy, A Love Song for Liars, I truly thought that I hit the jackpot. Oh boy, was I wrong because the real gem is the second book: A Love Song for Rebels! Piper Lawson blew me away with the second book. I loved it so much!
Annie and Tyler’s romance started in high school in the first book, but now Annie is in college which means the romance shifts from Young Adult to New Adult and the transition is truly blossoming for their relationship. They are older, stronger and highly focused on their careers… but when they bump into each other unexpectedly, they realize their feelings have grown and their chemistry and deep connection can’t be ignored anymore.
There’s so much going on but I can’t share much. There are new amazing secondary characters (yes, Beck looking right at you!), steamy and heart breaking moments, a lot of angst, raw emotions, drama, off the charts chemistry and I couldn’t put my Kindle down for a second.
Tyler and Annie are amazing, reckless and selfless characters. I really loved how they wear their hearts on their sleeves and how they embrace their feelings for each other and for music. By the way, I’m still not a fan of Annie’s dad but that didn’t bother me in this book. The ending crushed me, I screamed and I cried and I can’t wait to read the final installment in this trilogy. I’m also equally dreading the final book because it’ll mean I’ll have to say goodbye to Tyler and Annie and I’m definitely not ready for that.
A Love Song for Rebels is a must read for anyone who loves an angsty, beautifully written college romance. Highly recommended.
Oh! My! This book you guys!!!
Remember how A Love Song For Liars left you NEEDING more? Remember how you needed answers and wrongs to be righted? A Love Song For Rebels is going to mend your heart
A Love Song For Rebels was everything I needed it to be. Annie and Tyler are a little older, a little wiser and their love for one another is undeniable. The secondary characters are superb and easy to love. Annie’s girl squad is nothing but supportive and filled with love. Not to mention her Student Mentor is equally as fantastic
This book is HOT I caught myself trying to read around my 6 year old and I had to LEAVE THE ROOM. Chapters 12 and 13 may have melted my Kindle a tad! If you thought there was angst and tension in book one, wait until you get your hands on this! There’s no holding back once Annie and Tyler let go. It’s beautiful and sexy. Their off the charts chemistry is explosive.
A Love Song For Rebels easily gets five stars. Piper Lawson writes some of the most poetic words and she’s easily mastered the New Adult Romance genre. This book will leave you breathless and yearning for the final installment
Oh, Jax Jamieson–we loved you so much and wanted the best for you all during your books with Haley. Now that you have your daughter Annie, you seem bound and determined to be such a jerk. I have never wanted to fling my Kindle and smack someone in the face with it as bad as I have Jax Jamieson in these two books. But more than anything that reaction tells me two things: one, these stories are well written enough to elicit that kind of response, and two, I am really invested in these characters because of the writing.
Tyler and Annie are no longer in high school, and both are studying at what compares to the New School in New York. Annie is supposedly at Columbia, where “Mr. High-Handed,” Jax told her she needs to go. For an artist, he’s utterly oblivious to the artistic daughter he has right under his nose. He’s decided she’s not going to pursue that path and do what Jax wants. You know if you flipped the situation, he would fight against these constraints too. Not only is Jax mishandling Annie, but he also continues to mishandle Tyler. Tyler and Annie are uniquely talented, and they move beyond Jax’s controlling ways to where they meet both emotionally and artistically. That place is where Tyler and Annie find each other and begin their sweet love story.
There is pull and push in the tension of the novel and highly frustrating moments as you are just wanting them to stop being so darn stubborn. Tyler has had disappointment and tragedy, and you want everything for him, and that includes Annie. We have to get Jax to leave them the heck alone. And we begin to understand that right when Piper, in her usual way, leaves us with a cliffhanger to leave us all gasping. Piper has one more book to get Jax straightened out (I think an excellent butt-kicking by Haley would suffice), Annie and Tyler fixed, and more beautiful words to put to paper. I’m ready.
What an ending! I need the conclusion asap. I was so excited to start this book when it landed on my kindle. Piper Lawson had me turning the pages as fast as I could and devouring this book in one sitting.
I am not going to give anything away about this book. I will say you need to read this series. I am loving Annie and Tyler’s story and cannot wait until we get book 3. The Rivals series is a MUST READ!
Ya’ll I’m OBSESSED with this series! OBSESSED! Two years later and Tyler & Annie find themselves back in one anothers lives. Their a little more jaded, lives a little more complicated, both working towards their goals but their connection… their pull to one another remains. This book was … full of surprises AND I’m almost certain Piper Lawson is trying to kill me because THAT ENDING?!?! Gah!! I need book three like yesterday SO GOOD
I can’t get enough of Annie and Tyler!
Their story made my heart sing – and then Piper ripped it all away!
Seriously!? Like, WTAF!! I was so angry I saw it coming, I really did but I had foolishly hoped I wouldn’t get my heartbroken this time.
No such luck.
Now, I’m waiting (not so patiently Piper Lawson – tick, tock) for the final installation to see how this all plays out.
I’m only giving this book 4.5 stars because I’m too angry and sad to give it 5
When A Love Song for Rebels begins, Annie and Tyler end up at the same school, and things are understandably tense between them at first. But those feelings from before never really went away, and soon they’re falling right back into each other’s orbits. Will a relationship between them work this time around? They’re older now, hopefully a bit wiser, so perhaps things will go better for them now that they’ve matured some.
Annie and Tyler have a strong connection and this time around, it felt much more stable. It will need to be to carry them through the consequences of that damn crazy cliffhanger. Yep, cliffhanger, a really insane one. I liked this second installment – Annie and Tyler have both matured past the angsty emo teens they were previously, and it made me enjoy reading more. And now I’m anxiously awaiting A Love Song for Dreamers. I really hope it’s releasing soon because I have to know what’s going to become of this couple.
This is the second book in the Rivals series, and the continuation of Tyler, and Annie’s love story. No longer the young girl Tyler left behind heart broken, Annie is moving on with her life, and finally making choices she wants. But when her path crossed with Tyler once again, they are drawn together, and their chemistry is impossible to deny. This was beautifully written, the characters have a combustible connection, and their story kept me glued to the pages. This was steamy, passionate, emotional, gripping, intense, dramatic, and a must read!
This is the 2nd part of this amazing trilogy and Annie and Tyler’s’ story continues. These two are from totally different backgrounds, and Annie has always felt that she lives in the shadow of her rock star dad, she just wants her chance to shine. No spoilers: this is a definite must read, you will not be disappointed. This is a beautifully written story which is intense, and filled with emotions, passion, drama, suspense, and off the chart’s chemistry, which all lead to a poignant love story which had me totally enthralled throughout. I cannot wait for #3. I highly recommend this gifted authors’ work for all.
After that cliffhanger we were left with in a Love Song for Liars, I was waiting…rather impatiently I may add…for more of Annie and Tyler’s story. We all knew it wasn’t over. A love like that just doesn’t end like where it was left off at and I had to know what happened next. Where the author would take their story. A Love Song for Rebels picks up over a year after Tyler left Annie brokenhearted. Now they’re in the same city and at the same performing arts school. A place where they are both hoping their dreams become a reality. But what does that mean for the two of them? Is this their second chance or will their dreams take them in different directions? This book had it all. Tons of angst, much needed forgiveness, a beautiful sacrifice and a whole lot of love.
I love how they both were so selfless when it came to each other. Two of my favorite characters I have read in a long time. We were also introduced to some kick ass secondary characters that I just absolutely loved in this book. I did love this story and I completely love Annie and Tyler. I did hate the cliffhanger and not because I hate cliffhangers but because why oh why did you leave us like that Piper Lawson? NOOO. I need the third book now!!
