All the freaking stars.
I have been very impatiently waiting for this book, ever since I finished forever wicked.
I fell so hard for Tyler and Annie, that I literally read through the night cause I wasn’t willing to put this book down.
The ending had me sobbing. I knew it was coming, but that didn’t help at all in easing the shattering of my soul.
My heart isn’t built for these kind of books, how am I supposed to go on with my life for the next month until Rebels comes out? How???
5 stars and a 24 fret rosewood guitar
A Love Song for Liars by Piper Lawson definitely captured my interest.
When I first saw the cover for this novel I was intrigued. First, it is absolutely stunning. The photo and the colouring just capture vision immediately. Second, it combines some of my all time favourite romance tropes. COMBINED!!!
Tyler is a character that you will absolutely die over. He is charming and will make you believe that there are good guys out there, who can, despite a person’s past, change for the better.
Annie is a sweetheart that you will instantly fall in love with. She is sweet, and unique, and a great girl to be with Tyler.
I loved that these two characters had a friendship before they formed a relationship. It made the connection and chemistry between them all the more powerful and real. They fit perfectly together.
Annie is this sweet character that you can’t help but connect with.
4.5/ Stars!
What a fantastic read! Once I started, I couldn’t put the book down…LITERALLY!!!!
It is full of all the things I love…angst, drama, romance, and lots of chemistry!!!! Tyler and Annie are also characters that I could connect with. Their romance tugged at my heartstrings!!! It was a slow-burn yet full of heat!
Tyler lives with Annie and her family. Her father is a legendary rockstar who saw talent in Tyler, and he wants to help him have a career in the industry. He only has one request…don’t entertain any romantic thoughts about his daughter. It shouldn’t be too hard since it appears that they can’t stand one another. But, appearances can be deceiving.
Annie and Tyler used to be friends until he broke her heart by turning his back on her. Despite the fact of who her father is, many of her classmates don’t like her, especially one girl in particular. Now, Annie hates Tyler yet she also longs for him at times. It especially gets harder when he begins doing nice things for her.
It also seems like Tyler doesn’t harbor any feelings, negative or positive for Annie. However, he is a complicated character who hides a lot, and he is very good at it. He does see Annie as so much more than a friend, and it is getting harder to hide that fact!
This is a book that illustrates that opposites do attract! Annie is rich, and Tyler came from nothing. He wants to hide from the limelight, despite the fact that he can’t with his talent. Annie longs to be seen. She is pretty much an open book and that is the thing I liked most about her. Tyler is a master at hiding secrets and feelings! Even though they don’t have much in common, they share distrust and abandonment issues which impacts how they function both individually and as a new couple. This could be the one thing that will end up tearing them apart.
These two just got started when the book ended, and oh my, what an ending! I can hardly stand waiting for the next book in the series. I’m looking forward to seeing what direction these two are going to take, both as individuals and a couple. I know one thing for sure, the author will make it interesting!!!!
This first installment of Tyler and Annie gives you the back grin how they got started as teenagers and sets the stage of the hurt and separation. It’s teenagers living in a world where they are operating and acting with adult hurts and feelings. Both have been hurt by the adults and situations in their lives and are trying to come to grips with that. They are young and that is clearly shown in the emotional reactions they have to each other and their friends. As they grow and experience more in life this should change. Looking forward to the rest of the series.
Annie Jamieson’s dad, Jax, is a former rock star and he wants Annie as far away from that lifestyle and doesn’t want her future to involve music. Unfortunately, Annie just wants to be noticed by her dad and wants him to be proud of him the way he is with Tyler Adams.
Tyler Adams has moved into the pool house of Jax in order to learn from him and allow Jax’s connections secure his future. He is trying to stay as far away from Annie as he can, per Jax’s orders, until he can graduate and make something of himself.
When Annie struggles with the class bully, Carly and her minions, she must try and face them head on and continue to follow her dreams of the lead in the musical in order to finally catch her dad’s attention. Yet will Tyler find himself in the middle when Carly begins to set her attention on him? How much is Annie willing to risk or will she find a way to overcome it all?
This was such a good book and I didn’t realize it was the beginning of a series so I was shocked at the events at the end!
I loved Annie and I hated that her dad tried to control what she did with her life due to his own experiences. I understand that he didn’t want her in that lifestyle but it didn’t mean that she was going to do the things that he did. I also felt bad that Annie was struggling to be seen in her house. I understood why she cared so much about Tyler and I hated that she was going through so much at school.
I got why Tyler felt like he owed Jax so much but I felt bad at how he knew he cared about Annie but couldn’t really do anything about it. Yet he also went out with a few other girls which really hurt Annie.
I was happy when Annie tried to show Tyler how much she cared with a certain gift but I was heartbroken when Tyler tried to fix everything that Annie was going through at school himself instead of letting her fight for herself.
Towards the end of the book I was so mad at Carly for what she did to Annie right before the show and then I was even madder at how Jax’s decision shattered Annie’s heart.
The very end left me with my jaw on the floor!!

I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
I absolutely loved this book, it’s book one in the Rivals series, this story was beautifully written with plenty of drama and angst. The characters are well developed and likable.
Prep school, mean girls (and boys), music and opposites.
This is a bully read (not my trope of choice) but it’s well done. Angsty and very YA/NA.
Annie is the rich girl, wants to be on stage, good girl who hates Tyler. He’s poor, tatted, has a guitar and is now the prince of the bullies.
So of course they are like opposite magnets.
When the Wicked girl ended I didn’t suspect that there will be more. And there is in A love song for liars we once again read about a sexy musician and a girl who is so much different than the others. Annie and Tyler meet again in very different circumstances and practically living under the same roof. Anni has already a lot in her life and school and Tyler coming back makes everything even harder. The past from Tyler stays in the shadows and there a lot of him that stays hidden. What surprised me the most and not in a positive way is Jax and his attitude toward Annie. This read is a great New Adult read full of drama, friendship, and love and I am waiting for the second book with anticipation.
I received this e-book from the Author and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
When I read the prequel to Tyler and Annie’s story, I was 100%+ in, in, in. And the continuation did not disappoint!
The characters are so real! You may remember them from your school days.
Plenty of emotion.
This is a great one-sitting, rainy day, or beach read! Cannot wait for the next in the series!
I received an advanced reader copy, and this is my honest and voluntary review.
What an amazing start to the trilogy!
Piper Lawson has broken my heart as surely as she warmed it in the first book of this school bully Trilogy, Love Song for Liars. While it’s not my typical go-to read, and I loathe cliff-hangers, she had me absolutely hooked from the start of Annie and Tyler’s story.
Annie was a character who hid her vulnerabilities well, and what I loved about Ms Lawson’s writing was to give her a positive mental attitude with which to fight back. She hadn’t had an easy start to life, and had developed a healthy coping strategy. When she said these words to Tyler,
” For everything in life that sucks, there’s something beautiful if you know where to look.”
I had even more admiration for her. She’s also struggling to chomp at the bit of her father’s overprotectiveness and apparent hypocrisy. I don’t blame her, and damn she was trying hard to find her feet in a family where she didn’t believe she fitted.
Unfortunately for her though, mental resilience isn’t toughening her up in a world that can treat people badly, and it was pretty much at this point where my heart began to break for the final time. Having others fight her battles for her wasn’t protecting her, and isn’t what love is about. And Jax Jamieson, her father was behind the scenes trying to organise her life.
Tyler is definitely a beautifully written as the aspiring young musician and even as he has demons of his own pulling him in all directions, I loved when he and Annie managed to rekindle their initial friendship when they began to talk honestly with each other. Hell’s teeth, it was beautiful to feel the chemistry of their burgeoning sexual attraction as they had grown from adolescence into young adults, through into love, until Ms Piper, the offer of fame and a music contract, and Jax, ripped the rug out from under us all. That ending damn near killed me. I’m only alive because I need to read more.
Then, there is one huge shocker of a question that I’m wanting an answer to as well! 4.5 Stars.
As soon as I found out about the Rivals Trilogy I could not contain my excitement! I’ve been meaning to pick up Ms.Lawson’s work for the longest time and I’m so happy that I finally got the chance to with this first Rivals book! I had to finish it in one sitting. I enjoyed it!
This first book in Annie and Tyler’s journey pulled me in from the start! I loved getting to know them and dig deeper. I really liked how these two characters brought out my emotions and how I felt so much throughout this first part in their story.
I can’t wait to find out what happens next with these characters!
With A Love Song for Liars, Ms.Lawson has created such an awesome read! I’m still thinking about this book! I’ll be counting down the days until A Love Song for Rebels releases!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from Wildfire Marketing Solutions / the author*
A Love Song for Liars (Rivals Book 1)
Having caught up with Annie and Tyler in Love Notes: A prequel, this book takes us into the lives on Annie (Jax Jamieson’s teenage daughter) and Tyler Adams, the teenager that Jax took under his supervision when the family was in Philadelphia. Now he is back, living in the family pool house and going to the same private school Annie attends.
Piper Lawson gives the reader a great view of the problems teens face every day in school, be it public or private, pressure of grades, expectations and the one thing that consistently hangs over the heads of children teens or not, bullying. Annie not only deals with being bullied by a group of girls, she is dealing with her own personal issues. Not easy being the teenage daughter of a Rock god and having your best friend from back east, at your school getting nothing but positive attention.
The tension between Annie and Tyler builds through the story and the fact that Tyler has made a promise to Jax doesn’t help because he can’t let Annie know his deal with her father.
When you add the pressures both of them are under at school as well as those self-imposed pressures they put on themselves, it isn’t hard for any one to relate to this young couple.
This is one of those, once you start page one reads, you can’t put it down. I’m counting the weeks until Book two is out and we can join up with Annie and Tyler again.
It was an amazing story full of amazing twists and turns! I had to read it in one sitting!
As a fan of books entailing musicians the synopsis of this read had me intrigued. The 3.5 stars story is a good start to the series that is filled with bullies, angst, and being more for oneself. Tyler Adams is living in the same household as famous rockstar legend, Jax Jamieson. He has always had a relationship with his daughter, Annie Jamieson; however, after being away for awhile; times have changed and being on different spectrums of the popular crowd makes their relationship challenging between them and everyone around them. Who to trust, who to believe, and where your loyalties are some of the constant questions on play.
I just recently realized that there is a prequel to this series titles Love Notes (Rivals #0.5). Going back to that book helps set the story and fills some gap especially for a new reader to this author like me. Although I enjoy the read I felt it was missing a little something to get the feels to affect me more.
That cliffhanger has me itching to see what will happen between Tyler and Annie. The back and forth and the rivals and lies will have you wanting answers and stat!
YES, YES, YEESSSSS!!! I have been waiting it seems like a lifetime for this one, well not as long as I was thinking. Tyler and Annie’s story is finally here!! It is nice to read a NA book once in a while to get away from what I usually read and this one was perfect!! But in true form Piper loves to keep you hanging at then end.
These 2 just pull at your heart and you are cheering for them throughout the book. It also takes me back to HS when you kinda wanted the popular kids to like you but you also wanted to be invisible. You can just feel the angst and drama that Tyler and Annie have to deal with in hiding their feelings.
I am biding my time for the next one to come out because I need more of these 2 ASAP. You can lie to yourself but not your heart!
This is the first book in the Rivals series, and story of Tyler, and Annie. This was another hit form this author, she gives us a a whirl wind of emotions, and keeps us coming back for more. This was well written, the characters have great chemistry, and I can’t wait to read the next book. This was intense, dramatic, and emotional.
I have been waiting for this story since I finished Forever Wicked and again after I finished Love Notes and I wasn’t disappointed at all. Loved Annie and Tyler so much. Their relationship will take you on such an emotional ride and it is only book 1. I was so blown away while I was reading their story. Ms. Lawson has a way of dropping you in the world of her characters and you are going to feel everything that they are feeling. You are going to get angry for them and at them. You will cry along with them. You will fall in love with them. All I can say is that I need book 2 right now. I have to know what is happening with them. Awesome story but be warned it will end on a cliffhanger. You need to grab this book and delve into the world of Annie and Tyler. You won’t be disappointed but you will be craving book 2 when you are finished.
I read an early review copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
I need the next book now!! Tyler and Annie’s story gave me all the feels and was chalk full of angst and chemistry. Tyler and Annie were best friends and now he’s in her pool house under while being her dads protege and Annie isn’t happy about it. In a way it’s so effortless for Tyler to have what Annie wants but he doesn’t really want it. He just wants one thing or so he thinks. Can’t wait for more!!!
A phenomenally written story with amazing characters and a fabulous storyline. A Love Song for Liars is an intense emotional roller coaster ride and I loved every second of it. This story pulled me in deep by my heartstrings in the very beginning, it felt like I was living every emotional moment right there next to the characters. This book was so much more than I had originally expected and I cannot wait to read more of this series.
A Love Song for Liars is an engrossing page-turner that will have you hooked from beginning to end. I absolutely loved the Wicked trilogy and was so excited to start this Rivals trilogy and I was not disappointed. This novel will give you all the feels as it takes you on Tyler and Annie’s journey and you will love following these characters as they mature. The story was angsty and entertaining, filled with drama, heartache, sweet, and swoon-worthy moments. This gripping tale was well-written, with likable characters and a plot that will consume you, and it all ends in a cliff hanger that will leave you anxious for more. I can’t wait for book 2. A Love Song for Liars was a fantastic read and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of NA romance.
