It feels like I’ve been waiting forever for Tyler and Annie’s story – but now that it’s here, I’m not ready for it to end.
Much like with the Wicked series, Piper Lawson pulls on all your heartstrings with her poetic writing style.
“Our lives are the stories we tell about them. The stories we sing about them…. And our hearts don’t belong in cages. We’re meant to be fragile. We’re born to bleed.”
The emotion that bleeds from the pages is raw, unfiltered and consuming. I still have glassy eyes as I’m typing because damnit! It was amazing.
Annie – the little spitfire that she is – is so, so strong. The amount of shit that gets flung her way is enough to put monkeys to shame. Seriously, how she manages to stay sane is beyond me. I would have gone all “crazy lady” on those spoilt little brats by now.
Tyler – broody, broken and beautiful – I can’t even articulate how much his character calls to me. The little glimpses we get of his need for Annie are simply delicious. Their chemistry is undeniable, even though they try.
I know Piper is going to rip me apart something fierce in the next two books but, do you know what?! I will love every second of it.
When I manage to find a series that draws me in (like this one did), one that makes me confront all of those uncomfortable and heavy emotions- I cherish it.
Embrace it.
I also: Swear a lot and tell the author I’m angry.
But mostly I feel – and that is exactly what Piper has managed with this book. I am feeling ALL THE FEELS.
5 5 ‘ ‘ ! . I didnt think Piper’s works could get any better than it is already, she’s one of my favorite authors, aaaand… I was wrong. ! It has all the feels, has you on the top of your seat. It’s so beautifully written, the cover is BOMB and I’m just lost for words. Can’t wait to continue this series! It’s a must read for sure! Grab your self a copy, and get to fangirling. (Also, Piper’s WICKED series, is a must, which started before this begun, so check it out! It’s Amazing! I can’t stop thinking about it.) : . !
Rating: – Green star rating isn’t working on my iPad
Amazing!
I was three quarters of the way through the book before realizing there was a prequel so I will have to go back and read that as soon as I finish up this review. I really liked this angsty teenage love story between two former best friends who have grown apart even though they are now basically living together. Annie is the Daughter of Rock legend Jax Jamieson and she lives in the house while Tyler Adams lives in the Pool house.
Annie grew up with her Aunt and Uncle in Philadelphia and didn’t know Jax was her Dad until a few years ago. After he met his wife Haley and decided to semi-retire, he did a final album an tour and then moved them to Dallas but Annie and Tyler remained friends. Until four months ago when Jax brought Tyler to stay in the pool house to work with him in his home studio and attend Oakwood Prep for his senior year of high school. Annie is a junior at Oakwood as well.
Tyler immediately became one of the most popular students in school and Annie overhead him telling one of his conquests who asked about Annie that she was nobody special. Annie has several issues with Tyler, she misses him as a friend, she wants to be more than friends, she is jealous of him because her father works with him as a musician and she wants her father to see her as a singer but he absolutely refuses to consider it.
Tyler has problems because his abusive father keeps calling him, he misses Annie as his best friend, he thinks he isn’t good enough for her, he knows that Jax doesn’t want him making any moves on his daughter, but he is so attracted to Annie that he can’t stop thinking about her. And he feels he has to protect her from the kids that bully her in school.
There is a lot of drama in the book and and the romance is sweet but not too steamy in this first book. Though that didn’t deter from my enjoyment for once. There are some very hot kisses and dirty talk and a ton of chemistry between Tyler and Annie. I really liked the ending and can’t wait for the next book.
I haven’t yet read the story of Jax and Haley and I bought those books a while back so I hope to read those soon before this next in this series comes out. I’ve had those on my TBR for quite a while. That would be the Wicked Series (Good Girl, Bad Girl, Wicked Girl).
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts & opinions are my own.
Oh emm gee!! This book was ahhhmazzzing! I loved it!! Hands down, my favorite romance read this year!
OMG all the feels for Annie and Tyler. I have been waiting FOREVER for their story, and to say it didn’t disappoint would be an understatement. If you’ve read Piper Lawson’s Forever Wicked series (and if you haven’t, then you’re missing one of the best rockstar romances ever written), Annie is the daughter of rock legend Jax Jameison. Tyler is his protégée and had been Annie’s friend until they moved away. Now Tyler is studying with Ajax again, living in their pool house and going to the same snobby prep school as Annie.
I won’t say any more because you have to experience it first hand. The teenage bullying, the angst, first love, disappointments, romance and all the rest was so good, I finished it in one big gulp! Yes it ends on somewhat of a cliffhanger but their story is so big, it cannot be told in just one book. I think this romance will be even better than Jax and Hales. Piper, hurry up and get us book 2 please!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review, but I plan on buying the final published copy, it’s just that good!
This one gets all the stars
Books like this one are why I read NA books. Those overwhelming feelings and teenage firsts – this book has them all!
There is NOTHING like the sweetness of a first kiss & NOTHING like the crushing pain of first love.
These characters are well thought out, believable and you will be hooked on their connection. Fantastic dialogue, rich supporting characters and enough bad decisions to make you throw your kindle.
Teenagers making bad choices are my catnip. I need book 2 yesterday and I don’t care who I need to bribe to get it!
Definitely recommend.
Ok, I do have to say I love the characters and how everything played out, but oh man, talk about angsty! It lasted the whole book until like the last couple of chapters, and then BAM it went quickly.
So if you love angsty storylines, this is for you 100%. I mean I didn’t hate the book, but it was so dragged out by everything and in the end, I was like just happen already. But again, I did love the characters Tyler and Annie.
Annie lives with her Dad, who is an ex musician. He’s now settled down with a wife and a baby, Annie is just trying to get through high school. But in walks Tyler. But why is he there? Annie is trying to figure it out as well. He can’t be here. She has too much going on to deal with him too.
Tyler goes to stay with Annie’s dad so he can help him get his music career going again. But he doesn’t realise the feelings he would have for her again.
Can they finish school, and get their dreams. Him music. Her music. What will happen?
FYI it did end on a cliffhanger sort of.
Some of my fave quotes:
1. You were gonna disarm me with meadow freshness? – The laundry room scene cracked me up lol!
2. She’s nothing. Nobody. – OMG! Broke my heart right along with Annie.
3. The scene in the pool house when the cabana is out of towels. “It’s big.” – ROFL!! Poor Annie is stunned into silence.
Wow!! I could not put this book down and now I can’t wait to read the next book in this amazing trilogy. I absolutely loved Annie and Tyler’s chemistry. Tyler’s protective ways will make you swoon and Annie’s struggles in life will pull on your heartstrings. Piper Lawson does a fantastic job by making you feel these characters emotions. It was such an emotional rollercoaster reading about Annie and Tyler in high school and now I am so ready to read about their next milestone in life and see where it takes them. Highly recommended!!
OMG I CANT!!!
This book was beyond amazing!!!!!!!!!! The ANGST!!! Holy smokes! If you want enough angst to tear you to shreds, then this is the book for you. It no joke destroyed me.
And that ending!! I need book 2 ASAP!!!!
I absolutely loved this book!! It was so well written, full of emotion that will have you laughing and crying. A beautiful friends to lovers story that is somewhat forbidden.
Once I read the prequel (love notes), I knew this trilogy was going to be amazing and after reading A Love Story for Liars, I am not disappointed! This has me hook line and sinker which resulted in me being unable to put it down and binge reading the whole book in 4 hours!
Absolutely phenomenal and I am DESPERATE for the next book! I need it like I need air to breath! That ending was just tooooooo much!
But seriously, do yourself a favor and read this book! You will not be disappointed!!!
The book make you feel and the ending hurts and I need to continue on to see how this ends.
Gah! I am seriously going to HATE waiting for the next book. This sucker has it all! The angst is awesome and the roller coaster ride created from the storyline of Tyler & Annie’s love story just grips you. This is a page turner! I received this book at no cost in exchange for my honest review.
I hate who ever edits her books. Whatever software is used to transfer manuscript to mobi cuts and rips the story to shreds. It’s mostly blank pages and half scenes. Which is a shame cause she’s good. But as it stands it’s not worth reading because of the horror show that the file transfer made it.
I want this girl to be kickass. I hope she carries on been strong and shows him she’s worth so much more than he can give!
I loved this book! I completely forgot to mark it when I finished it. Annie and Tyler have so much chemsitry and I want more of them!
When you meet these two in Bad Girl, you never think what will become of them. But oh boy! Do we meet them a little grown up and whole lot more angsty! With Tyler just turning 18 to Annie trying to fight her feels for her best friend! But with every teenager’s life, there are the ones that want something from and the ones that are jealous of you. Annie has become one of my favorites! Tyler has become one of book boyfriends!!! Blue hair and all!
I can’t get enough!
As I wipe the tears from my eyes, I fight over how to rate this book. I want to rate it a 1 because I’m bitter, angry, and heartsore. I want to rate it a 3 because I didn’t realize it was not a standalone and I hate being caught off guard. I can’t rate it less than a 5 because it would be a lie.
A Love Song for Liars is too dammed good to walk away from. Whether it’s a freebie or not, you should be clambering to get this series and hold it close. It is definitely everything the blurb says and more.
This book/story/series is going to graze your hand and cause your heart rate to pick up. You will flush, blush, and unintentionally smile. As you start to gain confidence, you will outright stare at your new obsession. You will have fantasies unrequited or not. You will be drawn to the hope, the feelings, and the undeniable growing truth. You will fall in love with the words on the pages, the feelings they invoke, and the unseasonably sunny day they inspire. What you can’t/won’t/refuse is that this one book (#1 in series) is only the beginning. It’s heartaches and pain, it’s lost smiles, are only the start of this story. You have been warned. Now I’m going to binge the rest while I can!
This is a spin off of the Wicked series. I was so excited that Annie and Tyler were getting a story. I am even more stoked it’s a series! The beginning shocked me. In Wicked they were best friends with potential for more. The start of this book they seem like enemies. That had me diving in hard to find out what happened. Their story has me consumed. They are both in high school. He is with the in crowd right away. Annie is an outcast. Even thought they seem to be at odds their connection is never broken. Tyler is forever protecting her. The attraction between these two is electric! These two will frustrate you because you just want them together. And when things look like they are going to go in the way we want, bam! Curve ball thrown. The ending to this book has me picking up book two without a pause. I can’t suggest this enough. This is a great book to get lost in and I guarantee you’ll be hooked. And for fans of Wicked, get ready to see Haley and Jax as parents and it’s so much fun.
Oh Piper Lawson, you have done it again, with your new book ‘A Love Song for Liars’ I’m so in love with this story; I was on edge the whole time, you seem to love throwing my heart in the mixer?
May, is too far away, I need to know what happens next? you are the love master, and I hail to your glories romantically-tragically-perfect love trilogies.
The Love Song for Liars, book 1 of the rock star romance Rival series of 4 books by Piper Lawson. This book, which continues where The Wicked series left off; will rip emotions from you as the action of the book unfolds. You will need tissues. It is about teenage friendship to crushing, on to a love that withstands the test of time. It is a book full of hurt, misunderstandings, and parental interference. Annie and Tyler’s love story takes place over 5 years in the Rivals series that comes to a crescendo in the last few chapters of the book. It is a page-turner that I read in one sitting. There was no choice! I had kept going until I devoured the whole book. It’s a guaranteed HEA at the end of the series or I would not read it. I cannot give enough stars for Piper Lawson’s latest book, A Love Song for Dreamers, it’s worth 10+ stars. Make sure you continue to read the other books in the series: A Love Song for Rebels, book 2; A Love Song for Dreamers, book3, and A Love Song for Always, book 4.
Oh yeah! This is what I like to read, books filled with emotion and angst. My heart hurt for Annie, I wanted to bitch slap Carly and scream “grow a set” to her weak minded minions. I’m feeling a little drained after that emotional roller coaster ride. I so want the happy ending for Tyler and Annie, but there may be too many hurdles to overcome for them. Needing an outcome I just went to one-click, but had to preorder it and wait 13 days. I feel a bit like Annie always having to stay behind and wait.
