What a great clean romance. I really enjoyed reading this short story, with great characters. It is the first book that I have read from Katie Carver and I can’t wait to read another one of her books. I have received a free copy of this book.
Tru Allen dreams of something more than working at the Murphy Inn in Spruce Valley and Charlie Perkins was happy to run his family farm even if he was stressed out about the delivery business he added on that’s recently losing money. They start to date and their relationship has its rocky moments from the beginning when she thought he was just a delivery driver. He wants her to follow her dreams, she’s not sure about a long distance relationship, and his new assistant is rocking the boat. I loved that Tru was a great cook who worked with what she had and that fellow chef Jonathan helped her out even though they were competing for the same job. At first I wasn’t sure about Charlie because he was so distracted, but he ends up being a true romantic. This was a clean small town romance.
Great small town romance read, I really enjoyed reading about Spruce Valley again. I enjoyed the first two books in this series and this one as just as good. Looking forward to reading more from this great town.

Tru had always dreamed of getting out of Spruce Valley and seeing what the world had to offer. She was a cook at the inn and she was offered the job of head cook when Thelma, her mentor, retired, but she still wanted more. Before she could realize her dream of leaving Spruce Valley for her dream job she met Charlie. Charlie was loved Spruce Valley and Pleasant Hills. He wanted to stay there forever. He also wanted to be with Tru forever. Tru had to decide what she wanted more; a happy ever after with Charlie or what the world saw as success but really looked more like loneliness.
This was a sweet story of realizing one’s dreams and understanding what is most important in life. The story was a clean romance with a happy ending.
I was given an arc copy of this book and I willingly offer my honest review.
Tru is well and truly at the cross roads in her life, I totally get how torn she is and then finding the perfect guy ever to fall for I think I would have been seeing a shrink well before any decisions on a career are made. Small towns, caring people, life decisions, falling in love, working out what you really want in life and hoping for a happy ever after, what more can you need in a book …. Oh yeah and good food too!!!

She’s a cook at the Inn – he owns a produce company. A mix-up over who he is nearly derails their relationship just as it begins. But Tru and Charlie try not to cause any drama as they get to know each other. She has dreams to leave town and be a big successful chef – somewhere else. He loves Pleasant Hills and its proximity to Spruce Valley. This is such a sweet story. I can just picture how cute Tru and Charlie look together. They’re both dedicated to their careers, and yet want to try to figure out how to be together. I read the first book in this series on a whim, and have fallen in love with Spruce Valley and its residents.

Charlie is content being in small town life. Tru works as a chef at the local inn. Charlie owns a produce company that delivers the produce to the inn in the next town over.
