Be sure to read the author’s note for a special announcement! This is book 2 in the Aces High MC – Charleston Series and this is a series that should be read in order.LucyI fell in love with Charles “Double-D” Brothers when I was just 16 years old. He was 19 and had just patched into the Aces High MC in Charleston, SC. The falling in love part didn’t matter though, because our life – our love – … because our life – our love – wasn’t destined to be an easy one. Then again, nothing worth having ever is. In the beginning – I was too young, he was too wild, and my family was able to send me away to keep us apart. Later, when I was 20 and he was 23 our paths crossed again. This time he was the one ready for me, but I wasn’t quite there yet. I allowed the club whores and rumors to drive me away, and then I let my pride and more lies keep me away despite the secret I took with me.
Double-D
The perfect woman was out there waiting for me to find her – again. Twice I’d lost her now, and twice it had been avoidable. It’s a damn shame that life had a nasty habit of screwing me over because we were far from done with the roller coaster we’d been on so far. It didn’t matter though. The ride could keep on getting bumpier, and I’d never jump off. She was worth every single thing I had to endure just to feel her in my arms at the end of the day. If only I could keep her from running again…
This is not an insta-love story. It’s the story of a lifetime.
As with The Other Princes (Aces High MC – Charleston Book 1) this is a different book in the MC Romance sub-genre. It deals heavily with internal family issues and less with outside club vs club drama.

Wow oh wow, very happy to read the back story of these two, how they met, what broke them up and to finally made up. There’s a lot of betrayal going on in this book, characters are beyond mess up but I’m also beyond piss, it’s all could’ve been avoided but sadly it didn’t. Don’t get me wrong I feel for him, what happened to him was an injustice, no matter how you look at it, he was assaulted point blank. This family suffered so much pain just to get a little bit of love for themselves, it’s gut wrenching, sad, but most all so good. Yes, I know I’ve contradicted myself but what can I say, I love what I love. Why don’t you give this series a try my fellow readers, I dare ya
Outstanding & Narration Heartfelt & Amazing!
A Love So Hard
Aces High MC – Charleston, Book 2
By: Christine Michelle, Christine M. Butler
Narrated by: Sarah Puckett, Michael Norman Johnson
I was not sure how Christine Michelle was going to top the 1st book in her “Aces High MC” series, “The Other Princess” which I loved but she did and I loved this one just as much, if not more than that one. She penned another beautiful, captivating story that grabs your heart and takes you on an emotional rollercoaster ride. The first book was Ever’s story, this book is CJ aka “Double-D” and Lucy’s story, her Dad and Step-Mom, who we met in the first book. Their story is a great one, a great love, it was not always easy for them, there were struggles from the start, obstacles and barriers came between them and kept them apart. But they were definitely meant to be and the chemistry between them is undeniable, but can that be enough for then. I loved how their story plays out, it is well plotted and it has a natural flow to it. The authors descriptive writing is amazing, she brings you into the story, right along side the characters, so you can see and feel what they do. There is never a dull moment in this book, there is plenty of drama, personal, family and club, as well as angst, heartbreaking moments, heartfelt ones and some hot romance. It was great to see more of the club dynamics as well as their family dynamics. Christine Michelle, thank you for another amazing story, I am loving this series, the characters and their stories. hope the rest of the series comes to audio soon.
I listened to the Audible edition, Sarah Puckett and Michael Norman Johnson are fantastic narrators and voice artists. They bring the characters to life giving each their own voice and personality as well as heart and attitude. Their portrayal of the characters is spot on, they truly grasped their persona captured all their emotions and projected it into their performance. They sounded as I pictured them to, Sarah’s Lucy and Michael’s CJ was amazing. They are entertaining storytellers, you could hear how much heart they put into their work, it enhances the story to another level of greatness. Thank you for this great listen.
This is the second book of the Aces High MC – Charleston Series. You have to listen to this Series in order. Double-D (CJ) and Lucy’s story is emotional and beautiful. There’s a lot going on in this story: drama, jealousy, family issues, motorcycle club issues, misunderstandings, lies, secrets, and heartbreaking scenes. We follow Lucy and CJ in their emotional lifetime journey in the MC, as a couple, and after that as parents of Tobby, Ever, and Anna. They share a strong and undeniable chemistry. Their love story is solid, and forever. Lucy is a wonderful strong woman. CJ is handsome, caring and protective. I am glad the author given us their full story. Sarah Puckett and Michael Norman Johnson did an amazing job with the narration. I enjoyed it. Looking forward to listen to the next book in the Series, The Princess and the Prospect, Anna’s story.
A story of life. How a betrayal, jealousy in the mc club, can devastate a forever love. how a father wants to protect his daughter from being involved with someone in the MC. Lucy running from what she thought was the worst betrayal she saw. But things are not always as its seems.
A story with twists, surprise, a devastating shocker that can destroy Lucy and DD/CJ for the rest of their lives.
What a rollercoaster of emotions. I cried along with Lucy, felt the anguish and despair in DD/CJ. Sarah Puckett and Michael Norman Johnson live the story. They ARE the characters. I could feel all the hate, jealousy, love despair in each person.

This is now HANDS DOWN one of my all time favorite series to date. Definitely up in my top 5 favorite MC series! I cannot praise this series enough, not to even mention the author! This series is soooo emotional, and sooo real, I really started experiencing a lot of different emotions. It isn’t often that a book will really draw me in emotionally and hit those “so called” feels, but this series does. Is it a light read? Ohh, definitely not. By any means. But it really makes you think… I seriously don’t know what else to say. This series is EVERYTHING.
If you liked The Other Princess AT ALL, you have to read this. I don’t care if you didn’t like Double D, go read it right now!!
Christine does an amazing job of redeeming a flawed character in the eyes of her readers. It deserves a real chance! I think you’ll find that, even though you won’t discover a way to excuse all of Double D’s actions, this book makes his actions make a lot more sense.
*this is not a paid review, but want readers to know that I do edit for her and know her personally. This is an honest review.*
I would recommend reading The Other Princess before reading this story. Make sure that you boxes of tissues next to you. I love reading this story of Double – D and Momma Luce when they were younger to their present.
I LOVED IT!
Reading this book I kept thinking this should have been book #1 instead of The Other Princess. It was so great getting to know Double-D and Lucy’s back story. This book had me by the heartstrings right from the first chapter and it didn’t take long to have me crying. At times I cried so hard I couldn’t see to read and at times I was laughing out loud. I fell in love with these characters in book 1. Questions I had in book 1 were answered in this book unfortunately it was not the answer I thought it would be. It was absolutely heartbreakingly. I was devastated. Some of this book was repetitive of book 1 but we are getting it from a different pov. The heart ache that Double-D and Lucy go through throughout their marriage is more that anyone should have to endure. As the story goes on I fell more and more in love with these two, they definetly had my Nook heating up. I’m talking off the charts smokin HOT! Anna’s little shocker made me smile because it couldn’t have come at a better time. I can’t wait to find out what trials this club go through next. At times the heartbreak was almost overwhelming but I loved ever minute of it. I highly recommend this series to everyone.
If you like books about the MC life you will love hers. She is an awesome writer and the stories draw you in. Check her page for reading order if her series. You won’t regret it!!
I absolutely loved this book! Cried my eyes out as the characters crept deep into my heart. I hated the H but on the other hand I didn’t like the h either – they both did such stupid things, so totally human. And then Christine Michelle turned it all around and I ended up loving them both. What a ride! Highly recommended!
Oh my emotions!!! I did a lot of crying while reading this book. This series just sucks you in emotionally. CJ (Double D) and Lucy go threw a lot but their love for each other makes them stronger. I just love all the characters. I can’t wait to read what happens next.
