Rachel Taylor has survived so many tragedies in her life, what’s one more? But when Hurricane Gabriel takes aim at her house, ruining practically everything, she’s not sure this one won’t take her out completely. With two small children and no husband, she knows she has no choice but to accept the generosity of Derek West and his television construction crew. However, Derek isn’t in charge of … this one. Caleb James is, and Rachel’s world is about to be rocked to the foundations by this handsome, wonderful, big-hearted construction guy. The problem is, too many tragedies have taught her to not trust any good thing. Can she get her house back in one piece and keep her heart that way too?
Caleb James was not planning to be point person in front of and behind the camera, but when his boss, Derek West finds himself stretched in too many directions trying to help the people of Ridgemount clean up after the hurricane, Caleb has to step into the limelight to help out. Of course, he’s always kind of wondered what being the head of his own crew might be like, but with Derek on-set, the chances of him getting his big break have always been slim-to-none. Then, without warning, he’s in front of the camera, and his big break may just have found him. But even as he tries to navigate this new way of life, he finds himself attracted to and then falling for the home owner, a young widow with two small children who have stolen his heart. Unfortunately, his line of work is all about moving on when one project is finished. Which one will he choose, his dream job or his love for a woman who may never be able to love him back?

Great story, loveable characters. But really long.
Sweet story of two people who fell in love when they least expected it. I appreciate the spiritual themes as a Christian romance, but sometimes it felt a little over the top as a self-help book on Christian romance. There were a few things that just didn’t make sense in the storyline…… like Rachel’s age of 32? All those years from leaving college as a junior (probably about 21), and her unexpected pregnancy….now with that child 3–just didn’t add up. Also, I felt like her beating herself up about her past choices, and over the top aversion to accepting help, compliments, friendship–were just a bit much. Overall I do appreciate the author’s vision for writing more than a romance–but also the love story of God’s love for us.
Great read. Anything that this author writes is great!
Great book except to much oohing and awing over each other, otherwise great story and great advice from their Pastors . Would have given it 5 stars if not for excessive oohing and awing.
This was an exceptional read in my book, mainly because it was so much more than the typical romance. The storyline was sad but inspirational, and there was a LOT of spiritual dialogue throughout the book. At times this dialogue seemed a bit much, but it fit the plot well and was well-written. Overall, I think the real value of this book is in the aforementioned dialogue, which is more like a counseling manual or one-on-one with a spiritual advisor. A romance with spiritual lessons–an exceptional idea!
This is a wonderful book!!
Both hubby & I enjoyed this good read!
This was one of the series of Sandy Cove books by Stacy Stallings. She is a great author and I enjoy all of her books. Looking forward to reading more of them!
I like to read this author’s books.
If you like this author, you will enjoy this quick easy read.
Great but long
Wonderful & enjoyable read.
This book just dragged. It was tedious reading.
Long and drawn out too much.
Staci is a great writer and adds inspirational thoughts as part of the daily lives of the character.
I can not give this book more than 3 stars. It was WAY longer than it needed to be to get the story across,. Come on people – over 17 hours to read. It was a great story just the author made it at least 5 hours longer than it needed to be. I had a hard time to keep reading and not just delete it from my Kindle.
The book started out great but dragged too much at the back end. I also like the fact that there was no foul language in it. Some editing is also required
I found this book to be inspirational and the characters were well developed.
It was a Christian based story that I found rather realistic. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys Christian based stories of family and devotion.
I read #2 in the Grace series and enjoyed it very much. This is a Christian romance novel also, and I appreciated the spiritual references and how it was intertwined in the story. That’s about all the good I can say about this book. The author just dragged this story out about 4 times too long. I couldn’t believe how long this book was while going over the same issues time and time again. Additionally, punctuation was so bad that sentences ran together and I had to read the print 2-3 times to understand the sentence. Also, syntax was extremely poor. There were also instances of incorrect grammar, and personally I have no use for that in published material. The author really needs to take another look at the published edition.
If you like real romance Staci Stallings books are pretty awesome. I just finished A Love Like This and I’ve started Mirror Mirror. I am going to read the whole series, maybe everything by this author. If you like romance I definitely recommend this author, these books.
