Jaded Army medic Ryan Malone never expected his next mission would bring him back from Afghanistan to tiny Wishful, Mississippi. His great uncle’s health is failing and the cantankerous old coot has pushed everyone in the family away. Ryan is their last resort to get Uncle Percy to move into assisted living before he breaks a hip—or something worse. He’s looking to get in, get it done, and get … back out. That definitely doesn’t include taking time out for a sweet-faced waitress with a heart bigger than the Atlantic.
Interior designer Hannah Wheeler is a long way from the high-powered clients of her old Atlanta firm. Despite the fact that she’s currently spending her days waiting tables, she’s discovered she really enjoys the small-town life she found with her sister. This Christmas season, she’s finally ready to introduce Wishful to her true capabilities by using her skills to spread some holiday spirit. But with Ryan and Percy, she’s definitely got her work cut out for her.
Will Hannah’s evergreen cheer thaw their frosty hearts and remind these two that the most important part of the holidays is family?

The pull of Ryan and Hannah was immediate. I also loved Uncle Percy and Miss Betty. Kait Nolan is an amazing author with a talent to hook a reader from the beginning. Can’t wait to read more of their series.

After an accident,Hannah relocated and started building her life in the town of Wishful. She is currently working as a waitress, but plans to restart her career as an Interior designer. While decorating the Christmas tree at the diner she notices a scruffy, down on his luck looking army veteran. She invites him in for coffee.
Ryan is on leave from the Army to check on his uncle, Percy and once he is satisfied with the situation he is back overseas.
Hannah and Ryan meet again, when Hannah is hired to decorate Percy’s house for Christmas as a secret gift from one of the Casserole Patrol ladies. As Hannah and Ryan spend time together, Ryan starts to rethink his future and what he wants.
I loved reading a lot like Christmas. Hannah is such a positive and optimistic person that it puts you also in a good mood. And Ryan as a caring and sweet Army Medic is a perfect match for her. I enjoyed the way their relationship develops and though this is a novella, it covered everything that a full length novel would.
Can’t wait to see who is next to fall in love in the town of Wishful.
Once again, the author gives us another wonderful and touching story in her Wishful Romance series.
This one belongs to Delta Force medic Ryan Malone and interior designer Hannah Wheeler.
Hannah moved to Wishful after an accident in Atlanta to stay with her sister. during her recovery. Doing better and hoping to restore her career, she is working as a waitress at the local cafe. When she sees through the window a man that looks like a homeless vet, she invites him in for coffee and pays for his meal. Little does she know that he just going back from overseas with the intent of checking up on an adopted elderly “uncle”.
As their friendship develops Ryan’s walls begin to come down and he starts questioning his future . A reality of many deployed troops experience.
The plot was engaging, the characters complex and though at times heartbreaking it was also a heartwarming story.
Kudos to the author for another great story in this series.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
Another well-written visit to small town Wishful. Love the characters and storyline. Kait makes you want to visit this charming little town with it sometimes quirky but lovable townspeople.
Really enjoyed this visit to Wishful. Hannah is a great character and I really enjoyed that she knows herself and what she wants. She is not some pitiful hurt or unloved heroine. I like that her outlook on life is so positive and she is a genuinely nice person. Ryan is a wonderful foil for her. He thinks he knows what he wants, but he is aware that he has some issues. And both of them are willing to open up and talk about what they want. I’d love to see Percy show up again along with the casserole patrol. A warm your heart read for the holidays. Couldn’t put it down.

Kait Nolan, ‘A Lot like Christmas’,
A Wishful Novella.
As ARC reader I received this book for free and promised an honest review. Here it is.
English isn’t my first language. Sorry for errors.
Rating: 5 (of 5) stars.
In general: Nice small-town love story.
Main characters:
– Hannah Wheeler.
Waitress at Dinner Belles Diner. Studied interior design and had a good, but
stressful job in Atlanta. After a car accident she went to little country-town
Wishful to live with her sister. She likes living in Wishful and perhaps she
wants to stay in the small town. Then Hannah has the ambition to start there
an event planning business.
– Ryan Malone (27).
On deployment in Afghanistan as a medical sergeant. In Wishful to look after
uncle Percy, an old man. Two years ago Percy’s wife died and afterwards uncle
Percy neglected his health and his social contacts. Ryan’s mother (and sister of
Percy) is very worried about the lonely man and asked her son to take his
leave and look after the health of his uncle.
Ryan and Hannah meet at uncle Percy’s home. Hannah is there to make the house nice for Christmas and Ryan has to stay with his uncle because uncle Percy stubbornly refuses medical examinations. And Ryan has enough work to do recovering the neglected house.
Ryan and Hannah like each other but both hesitate to fall in love. Ryan has to return to Afghanistan and Hannah isn’t certain of her future in Wishful. But when the head tells ‘no’, the heart can have other feelings.
Author Kait Nolan writes with love and insight about the development of their relationship. And creates a lot of credible and sympathetic characters living in Wishful, the small town in which a lot of her books are situated. Again the reader gets a ‘feel good’ experience when he sympathizes with the inhabitants of this town in the country where many people are interested in the other inhabitants and give help to those who need it. All in all: a pleasure to read this small town love story.

Kait Nolan doesn’t disappoint. A Lot Like Christmas is a touching story with wonderful characters. Hannah and Ryan’s story keeps you turning pages until the end.
When I saw this was another Kait Nolan book, I knew it would be great. This Wishful story is about Hannah and Ryan – how they met, fell hard and fast for each other, came apart, and finally got their wish! It’s a wonderful Christmas story that can be read quickly. Makes you want to move to Wishful for the people, the love and the fountain!
