One little public scandal—and now they’re engaged…sort of.When Cara O’Neal finds herself dragged into a PR nightmare with A-list actor—and former crush—Brody Simmons, a pretend engagement seems to be the only way to stop the madness. But she’s not an actress, and faking anything with Brody has epic failure written all over it. It’ll take nothing short of an Oscar-worthy performance to survive … survive with her heart intact.
Brody enjoys playing the role of Cara’s adoring fiancé way more than he should. Acting like he’s in love with the pretty bookworm isn’t exactly a chore. She’s always been a good friend, but he can imagine her as more, which complicates their charade. When the lines between make-believe and reality blur, can Cara and Brody turn their fake relationship into a true happily ever after?

Loved this story!! What Cara doesn’t do for her twin sister, if it even means having a fake engagement with her high school crush, Brody. Cara’s twin sister, Caitlyn and Brody have always been an item in Hollywood, so Cara is a little confused.Soon one lie turns into more lies with the fake engagement and Brody soon begins to rethink his future.
This was a heartwarming clean romance that will have you laughing, crying and rooting for Cara. How I disliked Caitlyn, to treat her sister like she did.
This is part of a series but can be read as a stand alone. The perfect afternoon read.
A forbidden crush turns into a happily ever after.
Cara O’Neal has had a crush on actor Brody Simmons since high school, but she kept it to herself because he was dating her twin sister, Caitlin. They were Hollywood’s hottest couple. But, one night when Brody shows up at Cara’s apartment asking a favor of her, Cara learns the romance between Brody and Caitlin fizzled out a long time ago. They have just been pretending to date because of a movie series that they star in together. Now, Brody needs Cara to pretend to be his fiancé to cover for a lie Caitlin told the press. Caitlin said Brody has been seeing her sister and they are engaged. Cara soon finds herself playing the role of a lifetime, even though she isn’t an actress. The end result leaves Cara and Brody with the happily ever after they deserve.
This book was a lot of fun to read. I really got caught up in the story. I felt bad for Cara and Brody who got caught up in her Caitlin’s. But, I was glad they ended up together. They were good for each other.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I laughed, cried, and wanted to punch the evil twin. Oh what a web we weave, when we practice to deceive. What started as a little lie to help her sister, ended up causing Cara’s life to implode. The emotional distress she suffered felt real. Watching love dawn on Brody was very touching. The scenes and event coordinators at the wedding venue were great and the security team was wonderful. Wonderful read!
Frustrating!, LOL!! I loved Cara and Brody’s story! It was frustrating because I wanted someone to stand up to Caitlyn so bad every time she pulled something. But, I also got a kick out of the friendship Cara and Brody shared! This story was sweet and heartwarming and a beautiful HEA!!
I really enjoyed reading this book!
It is an engaging & emotional story.
Cara, lives a quiet life in San Francisco.
She needed to live her own life, away
from her movie star, twin sister.
Cara, is awoken by her best friend,
& movie star, Brody. He is the love
of her sister, Caitlyn’s life.
Brody, needs Cara’s help. Once again
her sister has gotten them all into
a mess. Cara, had been in love with
Brody forever. Her heart is now healing.
Because of the scandal created,
Brody asked Cara, to pretend to be engaged, till after her sister’s new movie opens.
Caitlyn started rumors about Cara & Brody. Each day’s lie, is worst than the
day before. Now Cara’s life is being threatened.
Will Cara & Brody, finally see how
they’ve always been manipulated by Caitlyn,
& stand up to her? And will
they admit what they feel for each other?
The story will draw you in, from the very beginning, & keep you reading till the end!!
I loved Cara, grew to like Brody, and still can’t stand Caitlin. Cara IMO really went above and beyond being a good sister and friend when she agreed to a fake engagement to Brody. Loved their love story – friends to forever is one of my favorite story lines. Her parents made me angry – I have twin daughters and I can’t imagine treating my daughters that way. Loved the ending but thought she forgave too soon. Her drama filled, self centered twin Caitlin IMO go off way to easy.
An excellent book, sweet and fun!
Cara. Sweet, caring Cara is one of life’s givers. Quiet, sensitive, understanding, bookloving, and always there for the people she loves. She has been in love with Brody all her life, but he’s with her very different twin sister. Cara has always played second fiddle to her twin sister, and she doesn’t mind, really. Growing up, Caitlin had been the puppet master with Brody and Cara as her marionettes. That had only worsened as they got older because they both wanted to make sure Caitlin’s anxiety didn’t send her off the deep end again. But now her twin is asking a lot of her. A lot. And this plan could be really bad for Cara’s reputation.
Caitlin, Cara’s twin sister, is one of life’s takers. A diva. She uses everyone around her to get what she wants. This new plan goes far. Very far. Lies and deceit all around.
Brody. Where does the actor end and the real man begin?
Oh it was such a sweet tale! Fairy-taley! Dual POV between Brody and Cara. I loved Cara’s POV the best, because I could relate to her so much! Oh, how I felt for her!!! An excellent book. So much fun to read about! I just looooved it!
Cara and Brody were manipulated by her movie star sister Caitlin into a fake engagement. But Caitlin’s lies didn’t end there as she smeared Cara’s character repeatedly to her public including claiming she stole Brody from her and got pregnant. She even tries to hijack their wedding. I wonder how much of that really was her PR team and how much was Caitlin’s selfish need to get what she wants and be the center of attention. The only good that came from her actions was that Cara and Brody realized their feelings for each other.
I totally enjoyed reading Cara and Brody’s sweet story in A Little Bit Engaged, a heartwarming, sweet romance by Melissa McClone, book three in her One Night to Forever series. Cara and Brody were best friends since childhood and you couldn’t help liking these two genuine characters. Cara was an out of work librarian currently working at a book store while Brody was making his mark acting in Hollywood. Cara’s twin sister Caitlin, an actress yet major drama queen, set-up Brody and Cara suggesting they were engaged, all behind her back, while she was trying to save her career and get people out to her latest movie. I struggled with Caitlin and how horrible she treated both Cara and Brody. She basically turned the world against Cara, destroying her career and life. In fact, their parents actually believed Caitlin, not even giving Cara a chance to explain what was happening. I’m glad Cara and Brody were able to savage their friendship and build a relationship on their attraction. It was nice to see a fake engagement that truly worked out for them.
Ms. McClone wrote a wonderfully sweet and moving story that is not to be missed. This story contains fun dialogue, endearing and likeable characters and the magic of love. I highly recommend A Little Bit Engaged to other readers.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
When an old crush she thought she was over shows up one night with an engagement ring and a plea for a pretend engagement, Cara agrees against her better judgment. But even Brody has no idea how an innocent charade can turn into a media circus spinning out of control until it’s too late. Cara is caught in her twin sister’s web of deceit, and even though her old feelings for Brody resurface, she has to walk away for her own sake. Brody’s eyes are opened to the truth of Cara’s sister’s orchestration and his own feelings for Cara, but is it too late to follow his heart and seek her forgiveness? I love when a fake engagement turns into a real wedding, don’t you?
This can’t-put-down friends to lovers romance is so beautifully written I felt like I was in San Francisco sharing the touching and emotional story with Cara and Brody as they went through manipulation by her drama queen twin including lies, deceit, paparazzi, surprises and so much more.
Ms. McClone has given us another winner and I can hardly wait for book four in her must-read One Night to Forever series.
A great romantic story full of surprises, heartache, paparazzi, lies, deceit, best friends, and true love. Melissa McClone knows how to write a story that immediately touches your emotions and draws you right into the characters and the story. I could not put the book down and I felt so sorry for Cara O’Neal and what her twin put her through to further her career. I received an advance copy of this book and I willingly chose to write an honest review.
A Little Bit Engaged by Melissa McClone
Cara O’Neal and Brody Simmons, are the main characters. Cara and Brody grew up together and Cara has always loved Brody. He is now an actor and has recently broke up with her sister. They play a fake wedding to take the spotlight off of her sister but her sister keeps feeding the press lies, Cara and Brody finally realized that they loved one another and that that wanted a HEA.
This book was a really enjoyable read. I recommend to anyone looking for a good book.
Cara, her gorgeous sister Caitlin, and Brody were childhood friends. Cara had been crushing on Brody for years. Caitlin and Brody became a-lister movie stars together and became a couple. Caitlin is a drama queen in more than just the movies. Brody and Cara had gotten her out of mess after mess. They agree to be fake engaged to help her this one last time. Cara and Brody were very likable characters. I loved Brody’s deep concern for how Cara was being hurt because of this fake engagement. One of my favorite characters besides the main couple was Loki, Cara’s cat. The plot had twists and turns and moved at a good pace. There are some scorching hot kisses, but nothing more. There’s a great HEA. I hope to read more of Melissa McClone’s books. I’d recommend this to sweet, clean, and wholesome romance readers. I received an ARC. I chose to write a review and share my opinion of this great romance.
There’s a smile hidden inside of every Melissa McClone novel. Behind all the crazy happenings and the clueless characters is a heartwarming story that delivers valuable lessons on life and love. A Little Bit Engaged makes complicated, simply irresistible and wildly entertaining. Brody and Cara find themselves in over their heads when a scandal disrupts their lives. Can these old friends keep their sanity while protecting their emotions from the fallout? As long as she writes, McClone will continue to be a one-click for me,
