Some promises are hard to keep… brother’s life. He also never expected to break a promise. But some promises are hard to keep, especially when he finds out the secrets she’s keeping.
I enjoyed this book. I felt Sarah and Phillip are both strong characters trying to overcome their own problems. When Phillip kidnaps Sarah to save his brother from dying he doesn’t realize how strong willed Sarah actually is. A little more romance would have been nice throughout the book.

It was okay, sweet but hardly any romance.

I couldn’t finish it. The author started out really strong, painting a beautiful picture of the protagonist on the cliffs of Scotland, but then followed it up with redundant statements about her drunkard father, claiming her mother’s death was her sister’s fault but never explaining why, and just bad writing. The only good thing I can say is this book helped me purge nine books from my digital TBR pile.

I would like to rate “A Laird’s Promise” (nook) as 3-1/2 stars rather than just 3 stars. I enjoyed the story but was distracted by a few discrepancies and repetions. With a few tweaks, the book should be at least 4 stars.

This book only took me a few hours to finish and is a light read. If you are looking for a clean romance set in historical Scotland, this book is worth a look.
A Highland laird abducts a healer who lives in a village far from his realm. Philip is a protecter of women and he is not proud of his behavior but his brother needs Sarah’s care. This was a good read and held my interest because the characters were believable in their evilness, goodness, love and loyalty. The explanation of herbs, roots and bark used in healing was interesting.
