This is entertaining, enlightening, heartfelt and lots of emotional conflict and soul searching.
Marion has been told by her father she has to meet gentlemen he finds are good matches for her. She wants to find her own match. She wants a love match.
Alexander Haddington, an Earl overhears her father talking about her and asks to be introduced to her. He is looking for a wife but is not interested in a love match, just a wife to be a companion. He saw how his mother and father interacted so he thinks love fades in time.
Someone is determined to take his interest away for Marion so they are making him sick when he is around her. I recommend this book to all who like good clean reading and who want to find out who is doing this. I think you will enjoy this book as much as I did.

This one had me going, Lady Marion’s utter dislike of Lord Haddington puzzled me; but I’m glad that even though she was reluctant at first she gave him a chance. Her friends were so awesome. I thought it was someone totally different, only towards the end did I realize the truth. Great Job, Joyce Alec!!!

Enthralling treat! Joyce nailed this bad boy with 100% on point realism that hooks you from the start and reels you in for the duration. A tumultuous wild ride with a surplus of unexpected misfortune and surprising incidents that blasts all of your emotions into play perfectly. Leaping through hoops, hurdling the trials and tribulations, witnessing the struggle our characters face as the lines blur and a bond grows into unexpected thrills and opportunity. One compelling storyline and gripping plot jolts this baby to life smoothly. All the drama, intrigue, danger and suspense make for one incredible experience. Twists and turns, ups and downs, along with a few bumps and bruises fuse this baby together piece by piece. The characters and scenes are written in true to life form that brings this little guy bursting to life delightfully. Amazing job Joyce, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.
This family-friendly mystery is an intriguing way to pass half a day and takes place in eighteenth-century London.

Why is Alexander getting ill?
Marion’s father has decided that he will decide who she will marry and this information breaks her heart. Now at different balls, she meets gentlemen her father favors. He wants Lord Haddington. Marion is a bit stand-offish and Alexander is intrigued. Then twists occur and Marion and Alexander work together to solve a mystery with their attraction growing love may be blooming. This was a quick and lovely read. Joyce Alec is one of my favorite authors it is a historical that I would have no problem letting my granddaughter read. High praise and a recommendation to check this charmer out from this reviewer I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
Marion, daughter of an Earl has just been told her farther has several gentlemen for her to meet one of these will end up being her husband. She is not pleased even after being told she could give her input on the gentlemen, she always thought she would choose the man she married based on her emotions. Alexander Haddington also an Earl was to become one of the gentlemen introduced to Marion, unlike her he believed a successful marriage was based on not having any emotional interaction with one’s spouse. Alexander’s mother wants him to marry her old friend’s daughter and Marion’s mother wants her to marry the son of her friend neither of their children wants this to happen. When Alexander started to court her he suddenly began feeling ill whenever they were together but not when their meeting was unplanned, so Marion and her friends together with Alexander try to find who is trying to prevent the marriage.

I have really started to enjoy reading regency romances. This one was an unexpected find, but I am very glad that I did. I had yet to read a regency romance mixed with mystery. This was very well done. They were twists and turns, uncertainty, great characters, and endearing romance. It was also a clean romance, which made it so very much better. I would love to read more from this author.
