This is a well written book by an excellent author it is very entertaining. Olivia Digby grew up without thinking much of society’s rules she didn’t go about in society. After her mother’s death she raised and cared for her two younger sisters and took care of her father. When she had reached the age that she either needed to get married or to find a job a rich old lady who was the grandmother of an Earl asked her to come to tea at her house. She went in the old lady wanted her to marry her grandson she agreed to meet him and see what happens. Nathaniel Norton the ladie’s grandson had been told by his grandmother that he needed to find a lady that he could truly love and marry her. So he couldn’t understand why she wanted him to meet Olivia and marry her. So he met Olivia and treated her very very badly which made Olivia very angry and she decided to see neither one of them again. Nathaniel’s grandmother forced him to go and apologize to her and see if she wouldn’t let him court her. He apologized very graciously and while he was doing so her father came in the front door and eavesdropped on them and when he heard what it happened he burst into the parlor and told her she was to have nothing to do with him and for him to leave, and then he left the front parlor. Olivia followed Nathaniel out the door and agreed to be courted by him therefore disobeying her father. The questions to be answered by reading the book are why Nathaniel’s grandmother wanted him to marry Olivia, and why Olivia’s father wanted her to have nothing to do with him. It’s a very good book…
A Historical Regency Romance Book it is well written, with a great storyline. Olivia Digby and Nathaniel Norton meet through his Grandmother, but what they do not know is that there is more to their meeting. I enjoyed reading their story and finding out what the mystery was.
A charming romance.
Does Olivia and Nathaniel have a fairy godmother? Okay maybe it is Nathaniel grandmother but it works for me. This is a charming romance of a lady who is very good at telling fairytales to her sisters how she can not believe in them herself. The author has made her character work for what he wanted a great job. I really enjoyed the story. I recommend this one it is a very good story.
What a wonderful sweet romance between a commoner and an Earl. I really enjoyed all the characters. They were sincere, honest, trustworthy, kind, hardworking, self-sacrificing and loving. There truly was no evil villain in the story save a woman from the Earl’s past that tried to get between him and his beloved. It is a story of societal expectations being cast aside for the opportunity of true love. The H/h’s relationship is sorely tested more than once with disastrous results. But none of the faux pas were maliciously intended. They also had to deal with the heroine’s father who vehemently disapproved of the relationship. But with each hurdle they somehow managed to get through them. There is also a mystery in the story. The reason the H/h met was because of the Earl’s grandmother. But no knew why she would pluck an unknown commoner to be courted by her grandson. The mystery was revealed in the end and it was such an unexpected bombshell. It made everything fall into place and make sense. I love the way the story ended and continued with the extended epilogue five years down the road. I just wished the story could go on and on. I did not want to let go of the characters. I really became so fond of them. An excellent read that I highly recommend.
